This article is to be used as a supplement to the instructions included with the turbo kit, which can be a bit confusing and does not have color pictures. Tools Needed: • YOU WILL NEED ALL THE TOOLS LISTED IN THE ENGINE REMOVAL ARTICLE, WHICH YOU CAN FIND THE LINK TO BELOW! • Sockets 10 mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm • 6” extension • Ratchet • 45 degree pliers • E8 Torx • Wrench 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm wrench Preparation: This article will show you how to remove the stock turbochargers and install the GReddy Twin Turbo kit. However, you will also need to download our ‘GT-R Engine Removal and Reinstallation’ article, which can be found here: http://www.speedforsale.com/pages.php?vid=185 Instructions: 1. Remove the hard pipe to turbo inlet pipe from the intake hose. Do this by removing 2 10mm bolts from the pipe, and removing the hose from the valve cover. 2. Remove the turbo outlet hard pipe. Remove the 12mm bolt on the stay. Loosen the hose clamps from the turbo and remove the 10mm nut from the wire harness stay. 3. Remove the turbo suction pipe by remove 2 12mm nuts, and the actuator reference hose from the plastic retaining clip. 4. Remove the head shields from the turbos. (9 10mm bolts per side) 5. Remove the A/F sensor connectors from the wire harness. Spray the exhaust nuts with PB blaster or other quality rust penetrant. Remove the 5 14 mm exhaust nuts. Remove the 14mm nut from the down pipe stay. And then remove the downpipes from turbos. 6. Remove the actuator boost reference lines from the actuators 7. Remove the oil return lines by loosening the clamp and removing 10mm bolt from stay. 8. Remove the 17mm coolant banjo bolt from block 9. Remove the coolant return by disconnecting the 2 rubber lines and 1 10mm bolt on stay. Note that you will curl the upper coolant line over and reconnect where second return came into the metal pipe to bypass the watercooling on the greddy turbos. 10. Remove 17mm oil pressure feed from the back of cylinder head 11. Remove the 6 14mm nuts to release the manifold. Slowly lift away from engine. 12. Using a E8 torx bit to remove the OEM studs from cylinder head 13. Install new stainless steel studs in head by using the lock nut method. Thread one nut onto the stud by finger, and then thread a second nut onto the stud. Once they make contact they will lock and allow you to install the stud. 14. using the provided M12 bolt and cooper washer plug the old coolant feed on the block.. (as cheap insurance, use liquid thread sealant on the bolts). 15. For the oil feed line, using the supplied fittings and cooper washer, install into the pressure feed at the back of the engine. Use a light coating of liquid thread sealer as insurance against leaks. 16. Set new manifold in place. Finger tighten the bolts. 17. Following the Greddy instructions, apply the reflective heat shield to the bell housing. 18. NOTE: When you prepare to install the waste gate, make sure that both reference ports are not blocked. They come preclocked from greddy and can only install one way. Install the waste gates to the manifolds using the studs and nuts provided. Only tighten finger tight to allow for alignment. 19. Prepare the turbo for installation. Install the oil feed banjo with copper washers and gently tighten the oil feed line. The line will “go away” from the engine. For the oil return, gently apply a thin coating of FIPG material to the gasket for a leak free seal. 20. Install the studs into the manifold for turbo mounting. Mount the turbo and tighten the nuts finger tight. 21. pipe. Connect the oil feed to the block. Also install the oil return line to the greddy 22. Install the down pipe to the turbo and the waste gate. It is easier to start the 4 bolts for the waste gate and then tighten to the turbo. Once you ensure there is no interference with the engine, you can tighten the nut and bolt hardware. 23. Install the stay for the waste gate and down pipe to the bell housing. 24. Install the discharge pipe, with smallest reducer hose, with #32 clamp 25. seal Install the crank case fitting to the turbo inlet pipe, use thread sealant for leak free 26. Install the turbo inlet pipe using the large reducer coupler with #48, #44 clamps 27. Using the provided hose to install the turbo breather, using small clamps. 28. Install the o2 senor back to the downpipes, make sure to use anti-seize on the o2 sensor thread. Heat wrap the o2 sensor wire to prevent from melting. 29. Note for driver side installation: The transmission coolant bracket will need to be removed to clear the waste gate.. Be sure to provide ample temperature with provided heat reflection material. 30. If you wish to bypass the coolant for the throttle bodies, on the drivers side you can route the coolant line like this.
