I am constantly amazed at how God opens doors at just the right time! I have been involved in ministry in many aspects throughout my life, but students hold a special place in my heart. High school was a time when God placed Christian role models in my life that helped awaken me not only to His love but to my own potential as a leader. I remember looking up to them; observing them in their walk with Christ. I attended college at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO and those four years were some of the most formative for my faith. I served as an intern, a worship leader, and a small group leader in my campus ministry. I learned the importance of discipleship. I learned how to communicate my faith in both words and actions. During my time at Truman, I felt God nudging my heart to pursue youth ministry. I thought He meant as a volunteer and I am forever grateful to a wonderful woman who challenged my thinking by asking “Why can’t you be the youth pastor?” Since then, God has given me many opportunities to minister to students. He has given me a desire to build relationships with them, to build them up and to provide opportunities that will awaken their hearts to the transforming love of Christ. I am excited to work with such a supportive staff and congregation. Thank you all for the way you are serving our students and please keep us in your prayers as we pursue Christ together! NOTE:: Due to difficulty we had with publishing someone's name and medical condition in the newsletter and thereby making that information available on the web, we have decided to only include in the newsletter the names of those in need of prayer. We trust that God already knows the specifics of each need. Thanks for your understanding. Pastor Wade June 1 - Please pray for Donna as she recuperates from a fall. Our music department is officially kicking off efforts to fund the purchase of a full grand piano for our Sanctuary. The new piano will enhance our worship in many ways, including giving a fuller, clearer voice to Michael Schneider's impeccable playing. It also serves to give greater clarity to the hymns, will serve us better for recording purposes and will attract a high caliber of guest musicians. The current piano is staying as well, allowing for the great musical opportunities that multiple instruments can bring. We are seeking a total of $25,000 to purchase, service and move the new piano. This week we'll begin our "Adopt A Key" campaign. We've divided the full sum of the cost into $285 per piano key, but even the smallest amount will help to get us closer to our goal. Keep an eye out for our progress banner as we work our way towards filling in all 88 keys! For questions about the new piano and how to donate, please contact Trevor Shaw or Michael Schneider. Brunner Many years ago, I had the privilege of singing in an excellent church choir. One year, the director of a college came to give us voice lessons. I learned that when middle C is struck on the piano, the bones of the inner ear vibrate exactly 256 times per second. Our ears open to receive the music in and around us. We think as many as 50,000 thoughts a day. When we walk, we use about 200 muscles. The mystery of our birth, the mystery of the love we feel, the mystery of our identity are unfathomable. Each of us is an incredible example of creation. We are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Everyday life isn’t everyday. The surface of what we see and hear isn’t all there is. When we laugh, when we cry, when we feel something happening inside, we open ourselves to the possibilities of seeing God more deeply. The potential of the life that we have been given is breathtaking — when we pay attention. The possibilities are endless. The music of the presence of God is everywhere. If we open our ears, we can hear it. Yes, God is near. Listen to the music of God’s presence.
