Experienced instructors will evaluate each swimmer’s strengths and weaknesses. Emphasis is placed on stroke drills and progression, with surface videotaping and review. We will focus on one of the four strokes each day, and the last day will focus on flip turns and the individual medley. This program will enhance the swimmer’s self-esteem and develop focus and sportsmanship. This camp is not a learn-to-swim program. Summer league swimmers wanting stroke refinement as they head into their championship season should not miss this opportunity. Junior Lifeguard Camp provides an enjoyable pre-certification program for young teens on how to handle themselves safely in a variety of water situations. They will enjoy working as part of a team as they tackle challenges and practice key maneuvers. Fun, safety, and new skills are all part of this exciting program. We will be spending our days at the ranch, so kids should get ready to saddle up for some fun! Campers of all levels will be riding daily and learning new skills. Gymkhana events such as barrel racing, pole bending and a flag race are just some of the games on horseback! We will focus on horse and rider safety, health care, nutrition, breeds and conformation. Learning how to groom and saddle a horse is just the beginning of this exciting week, where beginner, intermediate and advanced CHA-level instruction is taught by certified safety-trained instructors. Susan Kamlan started Iron Horse Christian Youth Ranch in 2003, featuring youth education/mentoring classes and riding instruction. The ranch has inside and outside riding arenas, an obstacle trail course, a jumping course, a dressage riding area and Gymkhana event areas, along with numerous stables and a shaded playground area. Prerequisites: Each participant must be able to complete 50 yards of continuous swimming in each of the four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. Participants do not need to be registered USS swimmers to participate. Prerequisites: Your child must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle, tread water for one minute, and swim underwater. for 10 feet. This is a fun camp to spark interest in lifeguarding and improve personal water safety and is not a lifeguard certification program. GROUP SWIM LESSONS FOR VILLASPORT CAMPERS Frames 2 – 5, 7 – 10 Monday – Thursday only 8:15am – 8:40am Campers can take advantage of swim lessons before camp begins. Campers will check into VillaKids at 8:00am and be escorted to and from swim lessons. Group lessons follow our Starfish Swimming curriculum, which emphasizes water safety and encourages skills development by providing effective awards of achievement as the junior swimmer advances his or her skills. Levels Red Frog through Stroke School are offered to campers. # Before Care available for children 12 and under ∆ After Care available for children 12 and under * Lunch available CAMP FAQ What are camp counselor qualifications and staffing ratios? All of the VillaKids camp counselors have passed background checks and are CPR/First Aid certified. Camps are staffed in accordance with state requirements. In general, this means that staffing levels are based on the ages of the children in each group and the activities being conducted. Do you administer swim tests for children? For camps that include swimming, parental permission is required via the Admission Form. Non-swimmers will be provided with alternative activities. Campers with parental permission will be given a deep-water swim test. Children who do not pass or elect not to take the test will be required to wear a VillaSport life jacket and will be restricted to the shallow end. A safety talk will be provided to all shallow-end and deep-end swimmers. Lifeguards and camp counselors will supervise camp swimmers. To register, please visit www.villasport.com/cs/camp
