Thank you all for taking a chance on the weather and joining us for our Annual Family Picnic ~ Fiesta!!!!!! The food was just perfect, not too spicy, yet a little Tex-Mexy! Our true Texans had nothing but good things to say; therefore, I trust it was just right! Now, as we head into the fall season, we settle down a bit. With school starting and families falling back into a routine, we want to wish all of your grandchildren a great, successful school year. With that being said, we will celebrate our very special grandparents on Sunday, September 11th, with music by Lamar Pilsing and sweet treats for all!!! Please invite your grandchildren or great-grandchildren to enjoy the festivities with you! It will be a nice change of pace and it’s always fun to see the little ones. The city of Kirkwood also celebrates the season with the Annual Greentree Festival and Parade. Please join us on the third floor (apartment 320 & 322) to watch the festivities from the respective balconies. Nancy D. is so kind to open her home for us to enjoy the parade (Saturday, September 17th, at 10:00 am) from her balcony! You won’t want to miss it!!!! Be sure to watch your calendars for all of the goings on in-house and about town! You don’t want to miss out on the great fun Crystal has planned!!! Have a wonderful September!!! Wednesday, September 7: Joey B’s Wednesday, September 21: Zia’s This Wednesday we will dine Italian style at Joey B’s. Be sure to try their famous St. Louis style pizza covered in Provel cheese and an ice cold beer! Here you will find delicious sandwiches, soups and much, much more! See ya there! This Wednesday we will visit a St. Louis icon! Zia’s on the Hill is known for their delicious Italian cuisine. The menu is full of wonderful selections that can please a crowd. From toasted ravioli to the meatball sandwich, Zia’s hits the ball out of the park ... meatball that is! Be sure to RSVP in the book for this delightful outing. Wednesday, September 28: Eckert’s Belleville Farm Wednesday, September 14: Falcon Diner and Ameristar Casino Our trip to Lazy River Grill and Lone Elk was most memorable! We saw such a variety of animals and had such an adventure! Check Out Our Website! www.adamsplacestl.com The Falcon Diner is about as authentic as a diner can be! The atmosphere is full of streamlined Art Deco-style details and the menu is a classic, from hearty breakfasts to sublime late night dinners. Then, we’ll venture into the casino to test our luck!!! Eckert’s offers favorites such as chicken ‘n dumplings and country fried steak. They also serve a variety of other satisfying meals, including signature sandwiches, burgers and fish platters, as well as appetizers and desserts. Be sure to leave room for one-of-a-kind, mouthwatering fried biscuits served with apple butter. Eckert’s savory soups, salads and sandwiches are sure to satisfy everyone. 3 Kings in the Corner Luncheon Happy Labor Day!! Labor Day will be observed on Monday, September 5, this year! The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated in 1882. Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. The Festival is held every year in Kirkwood Park, at the corner of Geyer Road and Adams Avenue. The Greentree Festival is an annual event for Kirkwood area residents that enhances community spirit! The parade kicks off on Saturday, September 17, at 10:00 a.m. More details will follow! Chair Yoga Chair Yoga with Carol is every Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Adams Club Room. Chair Yoga can be incredibly beneficial for people with mobility issues! Blood Pressure Clinic A nurse from Seniors Home Care will be here every other Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Wellness Center on the third floor for blood pressure screenings and to answer all your health-related questions. Massages With Katie Loosen those muscles and stimulate circulation by getting a massage from Massage Therapist Katie on Wednesdays, September 7 and September 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aerial Travelogues With Steve Galati Enjoy a slide show presentation highlighting some of our nation’s most famous attractions using photos taken from his small plane at low altitudes.
