Historic Sites & Landmarks — More than 140
structures of historic significance throughout Boerne,
many within easy walking distances, include two on the
National Register of Historic Places. Thirty-five minutes
north of Boerne on Old Highway 9 is the Old Tunnel
Wildlife Management Area, which is home to 1 to 3 million Mexican Free-tail Bats between April and September.
This site, located in Kendall County, is managed by the
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
