Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at our annual Equipment Swap between 5:00
and 7:00 pm at W. G. Sportsplex. Novice-Open regular fees are $360.00.
Come Try Ringette
is planned for Friday, May 23, 2008
at Langley Twin Rinks (5700
Langley Bypass) starting at 5:15 pm.
If you know anyone that is interested
in coming out and trying ringette,
bring them out. They can sign up for
at www.cometryringette.ca or for
more information, call Debbie
Schwartz at 604-576-0051 or email
us at fvringette@hotmail.com.
“Come Try Ringette” or our “Bring a
Friend” events have always been a
great way to introduce new players
to our sport. We held our first
“Come Try Ringette” event on
Sunday March 2, 2008 at Twin All participants must wear Helmets,
Rinks. We had about 18 participants. Skates and Gloves. Skate rentals will
be provided if you don’t have your
Our next “Come Try Ringette” event
own. Sticks will also be provided.
We would like to thank Carter
Haakenson, our Ice Scheduler for
the past four seasons. Carter has
chosen to take a step back this
season. Thank you Carter for your
all your years of service. We will
also be sorry to see Annette Lebus
and Tanya Braithwaite leave our
executive this season.
We would like to officially welcome
Lynette Lacasse to the executive.
Though Lynette assumed the
position of Ways and Means that
was left vacant at last year’s AGM,
her position was made official this
year. Ways and Means operate as a
committee this season and though
Lynette will head the committee, Joe
Campisi and Rod Keleny have
volunteered to take on the
Sponsorship portion of Ways and
Means.
We would like welcome Mike
Bellsmith as our new Ice Scheduler
and Mitch Schwartz as our new
Director of Coaching. Both are new
to the executive but neither are new
to volunteering in our association.
Welcome Mike and Mitch.
We’re looking
forward to a
great year !
Provincial Championships
Lower mainland League Champions
Five of our Fraser Valley teams attended their respective
Provincial Championships in this season. Petite A,
Tween A, Tween B, Petite B and Petite C.
Congratulations once again goes out to our Petite B
“THUNDER” and Petite C “ICE MELTERS”.
Congratulations to the three Fraser Valley teams that
brought home medals from Provincials this season.
Our Tween A “FURY” team coached by Leanne Fawcett
won the Silver Medal at the A Provincials in Quesenel
this season. They also earned the Fair Play award.
Our Petite B team “THUNDER” coached by Tori
Gunning won the Gold Medal and Championship
Banner at the B Provincials in Surrey this season.
Our Petite C team “Ice Melters”, coached by Lorraine
Zimpelmann, won the Gold Medal and the
Championship Banner at the C Provincials held in
Surrey.
These teams not only won their respective Provincial
Championships but they also earned their division’s
Lower Mainland League Banner this season.
Way to go!!!
PCRMRA - Bunny Tournament
The annual year end Bunny Tournament was hosted by
Port Coquitlam/Ridge Meadows Ringette Association
this season. Both of our Fraser Valley Bunny teams
attended the tournament held in early March.
They played four round robin games and had a lot of
Fun. Reports say that the improvement in the Bunny
players this season is remarkable.
May Day Parade
In order to promote our “Come Try Ringette” event and
get our association out in the community, Fraser Valley
Ringette will be participating in the Fort Langley May
Day Parade. The parade will be on Monday, May 19,
2008 at 11:00 am. This year the parade will start at the
Lions Hall and end at the National Historic Site.
Players can walk or Roller Blade. Roller Bladers must
wear Helmets. Please bring your OLD sticks to play
ringette on route.
Please contact Debbie Schwartz 604-576-0051 or
idebbie@shaw.ca to let her know if you can help out.
President’s Cup
We were starting to get a little nervous that there
wouldn’t be a year end tournament for the Novice
Division this season.
In February Coquilam/Port Moody Ringette association
came to the rescue and resurrected their Teddy Bear
Tournament. All three of our Novice teams rushed to
enter, as did many other associations.
The players had a great time showcasing their talent and
showing their parents and coaches how much they
improved over the year.
Please come out and join us!
