FRED KELLY STADIUM Master Plan - Orange Unified School District
FRED KELLY STADIUM Master Plan Building Connections to the Future… HISTORY OF FRED KELLY STADIUM Orange Unified School District's Fred Kelly Stadium next to El Modena High School was rededicated on June 11, 2005. An artificial infield and all weather track were installed at the stadium with a combination of funds, which included the Community Foundation of Orange. The stadium was originally built in 1969 and was named after Fred Kelly who attended Orange Union High School and won an Olympic Gold Medal in the 110‐meter high hurdles in the 1912 games. He was also USC's first Olympic Gold Medalist. 2 COMMUNITY INPUT WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS Acknowledgement of the Participants DISTRICT AND HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF and FACULTY LEADERS Mike Christensen ‐ Superintendent of Schools Joe Sorrera ‐ Assistant Superintendent Business Services Gary Slump ‐ Program Manager, Parsons Kerrie Torres ‐ Executive Director Secondary Education Dustin Saxton ‐ Principal, El Modena High School Brent McKee ‐ Assistant Principal, El Modena High School Steve Bernard ‐ Athletic Director, El Modena High School Kimberly Fricker ‐ Principal, Canyon High School Pat Bendzick‐ Athletic Director, Canyon High School Ed Howard ‐ Principal, Villa Park High School Tom Fox ‐ Athletic Director, Villa Park High School Ernesto Gonzales ‐ Principal, Orange High School Sheryl Anderson ‐ Athletic Director, Orange High School 3 SITE LOCATION N o r t h P r o s p e c t S p r i n g El Modena High School Fred Kelly Stadium E a s t C h a p m a n 4 EXISTING CONDITIONS • Study indicates Aging Concrete Bleachers (1969) Reaching End of Useful Structural Life • ADA Accessibility would require Significant Intervention • Support Buildings are Aging and Inadequate • Inadequate Facilities for Visiting Teams • Unattractive Entrance and Inconvenient Drop‐Off • Office of Civil Rights Complaint 5 EXISTING CONDITIONS DETERIORATING BERM 6 EXISTING CONDITIONS LACK OF ADA ACCESS 7 EXISTING CONDITIONS LACK OF ADA ACCESS 8 EXISTING CONDITIONS INADEQUATE ENTRIES 9 EXISTING CONDITIONS OUTDATED AMENITIES 10 EXISTING CONDITIONS INADEQUATE SUPPORT SPACES 11 PROCESS • Testing Options • Prototype Components • Pre‐engineered Stadium Seating Prototypes 12 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN OPEN SPACE AND CIRCULATION 13 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN SAFETY & SECURITY 14 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN 15 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN • Re‐configure Parking and Drop‐Off 16 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN • • Re‐configure Parking and Drop‐Off Improve Pedestrian Access 17 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN • • • Re‐configure Parking and Drop‐Off Improve Pedestrian Access New Home and Visitor Stadia 18 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN • • • • Re‐configure Parking and Drop‐Off Improve Pedestrian Access New Home and Visitor Stadia New Team Rooms, Concession Stands, Restrooms and Ticket Booths 19 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN • • • • • Re‐configure Parking and Drop‐Off Improve Pedestrian Access New Home and Visitor Stadia New Team Rooms, Concession Stands, Restrooms and Ticket Booths Potential El Modena High Projects Reconfigure Softball and Practice Field 20 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN • • • • • • Re‐configure Parking and Drop‐ Off Improve Pedestrian Access New Home and Visitor Stadia New Team Rooms, Concession Stands, Restrooms and Ticket Booths Potential El Modena High Projects Reconfigure Softball and Practice Field New Weight Room and Storage for El Modena High 21 OFFICE OF CIVIL RIGHTS RESOLUTION OVERVIEW 4 5 3 3 1 3 4 5 3 2 1 2 3 4 5 Mandatory Upgrades Accessible Parking Passenger Loading Accessible Entry Accessible Water Fountain Accessible Men's & Women's Toilet Rooms ` Accessible Home & Visitor Bleachers Accessible Press Box (Elevator) Accessible Path of Travel to Parking & Campus Accessible Signage Accessible Path of Travel 22 STADIUM MASTER PLAN OVERVIEW 23 STADIUM MASTER PLAN OVERVIEW NEW VISITOR STADIUM (1700 seats) NEW HOME STADIUM (3300 seats) 24 STADIUM MASTER PLAN OVERVIEW NEW VISITOR STADIUM (1700 seats) NEW HOME STADIUM (3300 seats) NEW VISITOR CONCESSIONS NEW HOME CONCESSIONS 25 STADIUM MASTER PLAN OVERVIEW NEW TEAM ROOM NEW VISITOR STADIUM (1700 seats) NEW HOME STADIUM (3300 seats) NEW VISITOR CONCESSIONS NEW HOME CONCESSIONS NEW TEAM ROOM 26 STADIUM MASTER PLAN OVERVIEW NEW TEAM ROOM NEW VISITOR STADIUM (1700 seats) NEW HOME STADIUM (3300 seats) NEW TEAM ROOM NEW VISITOR CONCESSIONS NEW HOME CONCESSIONS NEW PRESS BOX, ELEVATOR 27 STADIUM MASTER PLAN OVERVIEW NEW TEAM ROOM NEW VISITOR CONCESSIONS NEW VISITOR STADIUM (1700 seats) NEW HOME CONCESSIONS NEW HOME STADIUM (3300 seats) NEW TEAM ROOM POTENTIAL WEIGHT ROOM and STORAGE NEW PRESS BOX, ELEVATOR 28 PRELIMINARY COST ESTIMATE 29 PROPOSED MASTER PLAN STADIUM VIRTUAL TOUR 30 FRED KELLY STADIUM Master Plan Building Connections to the Future…
