In Track & Field, unlike any other sport, there are NO DIVISIONS at the state level! All athletes compete from all schools in just one division. This makes qualifying for and competing in the California State Track & Field Meet one of the most significant achievements in high school sports! Calvin has had 2 other athletes qualify for the state meet in our history. This season we had TWO athletes qualify for state! Our first ever girl to qualify, and our first athlete on the track! Congratulations Brian Marcus! State Qualifier in the 300 Hurdles! Congratulations Sara Wagenveld! State Qualifier in the Pole Vault! 2015 Best Efforts by Athlete, Girls Team Jacqui Balt - 11th Grade Discus - 1kg High Jump Long Jump Triple Jump 72' 4.00 4' 8.00 15' 6.00 34' 3.00 Shannon Broek - 10th Grade 100 Meters 15.00a 200 Meters 31.76a 400 Meters 71.62a 400 Meters - Approximately 60 schools with enrollments of approximately 2000 & under compete in Division 2. Qualifying for CIF FINALS (Div 2) requires an athlete to place in the top 2 at the Conference Championships, then the top 9 at CIF Prelims, competing against athletes from these 60 schools. CIF Finals awards medals to the top 6 finishers . Medaling in the CIF Finals is the general standard to place an athlete into the Calvin Christian Track & Field Hall of Fame. Coaches discretion applies to ensure performances are legitimate. Some athletes from years prior to this structure are placed into the Hall of Fame based on their performances as compared to current day marks and standards. This standard is a basic framework and is used as a foundation. Coaches judgement also applies, ensuring the marks achieved are worthy of Hall of Fame status. Other factors used to compare the quality of marks achieved include CIF qualifying standards and the Hungarian Tables of relative comparison.
