Jan-Mar 2016 25 Comforting Angels at GVK CSIA Airport What does one feel enroute the airport? I So what better than having those lovable pets to soothe the frazzled nerves of the hassled passengers by that pat, a cuddle and an embrace? 26 Jan-Mar 2016 s it the excitement of the upcoming adventure imagining the picturesque locales? Or perhaps a little anxiousness about the first day at a dream job in a global city? Or maybe a heavy heart thinking of the many good-byes at the airport. Either way, the physical stress caused by the preparation of the trip, braving the city’s traffic to reach the airport in time and clearing the security and immigration processes sometimes tends to dampen the spirit. And for some, the monotony of the same journey introduces an element of boredom as well. So how can the airport assist the passengers as they prepare for their upcoming journey? Probably by some extra care, that warmth or by walking that extra mile along, making the passengers feel at home. We, at CSIA, took upon ourselves the challenge to come up with a creative way of delighting our passengers. We walked around the length and breadth Employees’ Contribution GVK CSIA’s Comforting Angels: Customer Feedback “I think this is the sweetest thing to happen to the airport! Loved meeting Peppe & Sunshine! So happy and charged up before the travel!” “Interacted with 2 true Animal Angels Peppe & Sunshine. Really adorable and brought a big smile on our faces. They are truly lovable and cute.” Manjari Fadnis, Passenger Aarti Bhatia, Passenger of the airport, experienced every nook and corner, went through all the possible permutations of what the passengers go through to come up with a unique solution that the passengers would love and embrace. And we finally eureka-ed a solution that would create delightful moments for our travellers. As Ben Williams said, “There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.” So what better than having those lovable pets to soothe the frazzled nerves of the hassled passengers by that pat, a cuddle and an embrace? Sounds like a win-win proposition? After winning global recognition for the robust infrastructure that T2 boasts of, we have set our sights on winning accolades with this unique initiative. In line with this, we have initiated a pilot project at the boarding gates that allows trained therapy dogs, also known as ‘Comforting Angels’ to interact with the passengers for some cuddling, hugging and patting. We have joined hands with Animal Angels - the only organization in India that works in the field of HumanAnimal Interaction and in the field of Animal Assisted Therapy. This team of expert professionals provides comfort, acceptance and unconditional love through these therapeutic furry angels which are skilled and trained to help people alleviate anxiety and cope with depression and nervousness about the long-distance travel. The warm hugs, wagging tails and sloppy licks of these little soldiers just end up cheering children, wheelchair bound passengers, crying babies and the travellers exhausted from long flights, layovers, waiting time and transits. Yet again, they prove to be a man’s best friends!! It captures all updates across our verticals. In the last issue, I enjoyed reading the stories – ‘Redefining Hospitality’ and ‘Racket Buddy’ the most. Also, the festive greetings shared by the Corporate Communications Team are the best. Many employees here use these to wish their family and friends. Providing information on ‘Significant Days of the Month’ is also very useful.” Mr R.
