Since OSC’s beginning in 2004, we have met hundreds of brave heroes; each one facing great challenges with determination and strength. OSC understands that we have 1% of the population protecting the other 99% of us. They put their lives on the line each and every day. OSC is proud to serve those that selflessly serve and protect us. History OSC began in 2004 when President and Founder, Cindy McGrew learned of seven soldiers that were injured and en route to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). She Immediately sent emails to the families to offer her support and assistance. From that day, life long bonds and friendships developed. Not long afterwards, Cindy was joined by her friends, Debbie and Alaina Sacramo, in her daily visits to WRNMMC. Over the years, OSC has grown. This simple mission became something much larger than they had imagined. Mission statement “We are patriotic citizens committed to serving our wounded, injured and ill combat veterans. We support Veterans and their families by building relationships and identifying and supporting immediate needs and interests. We are dedicated to promoting public awareness of the many sacrifices made by our Armed Forces.” Our Programs Retreats Operation Second Chance recognizes the stress families experience from combat-related trauma and the importance of strong family support. One of the many ways OSC assists our wounded, ill, and injured heroes and their families is by providing retreats that facilitate this part of their recovery process. We offer two different types of retreats; We provide short local overnight trips to those who need a quick getaway, and week-long retreats held in Maryland, Texas, Florida, Colorado, Montana, South Dakota, and Alaska (with many more being planned) for those veterans who are further along in their recovery. All OSC retreats are all-inclusive and have no cost to our recovering service members and their families.
