President’s Message
Dear Chamber Member,
We are pleased to present the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce Buyers’ Guide
and Membership Directory for 2012-13. It has been prepared as a service to our members
and to the business and residential communities of the Greater La Porte area.
The Chamber of Commerce is a member driven, non-profit business organization
committed to supporting the area business community. Our goals include developing
programs to assist the efforts of local businesses, creating partnerships with government
and residents and enhancing our area’s overall quality of life.
We hope you will use the book to boost our local economy and support those businesses
that have contributed to the community.

Mike Seitz, I.O.M.,
ABOUT US
President
Michael B. Seitz has 18 years of Chamber experience. He previously served as Vice President of Existing
Business Development and Membership Services for the St. Joseph County Chamber of Commerce
and as President of the Logansport Chamber of Commerce. Mike holds an undergraduate degree in
Public Administration from Indiana University and graduated from the United States Chamber of
Commerce Institute. Mike also attended the Certified Economic Developers program at the University
of Kentucky. Mike is responsible for the full range of Chamber and Foundation activities. Contact Mike

Ashley Hawkins,
Director of Marketing and Communications
Ashley Hawkins is the Chamber’s Director of Marketing and Communications. She graduated from
Ball State University with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Advertising and Public Relations.
Ashley is responsible for the development and implementation of new communications-related projects,
enhancement and maintenance of the Chamber’s website as well as the development of all marketing
materials. Ashley also coordinates Chamber events and activities. Contact Ashley for information about

Rita Mrozinski,
Director of Membership Services
Rita M. Mrozinski has 24 years of professional banking and 17 years of management under her belt.
Rita has been a proud resident of La Porte County for the last 25 years. Rita is very excited to expand the
possibilities and membership of the Chamber!
Rita is responsible for the advances of goals and positive, professional image of the Chamber by acting
as a major link between the Chamber, its members and the general public. Rita also contributes to
the team effort of the staff by accomplishing related projects, programs or events, as needed. Rita also
manages the accounts payable and receivable for the Chamber and the La Porte Economic Advancement Foundation. Don’t

U.S. Chamber Accreditation
The Greater La Porte Chamber
of Commerce was awarded 4
Star Accreditation by the U.S.
Chamber of Commerce in 2005.
For more than 40 years, the
U.S. Chamber of Commerce has offered the Accreditation
program to recognize chambers that stand out from the
crowd. As the only program of its kind in the country, U.S.
Chamber Accreditation validates an organization as having
solid programs, clear organizational procedures, and as being
a catalyst for positive action in the community. To achieve
accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in
their operations and programs, including areas of governance,
government affairs, and technology. This extensive selfreview can take an organization from three to six months to
complete.
The Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce was first granted
accreditation status in 1978 for its “effective marshalling and
organization of community’s volunteer business leadership;
for its objective evaluation of needs and the responsible
planning necessary to community betterment in all its
many phases; and for its productive and continued action to
promote and strengthen the principals of free enterprise and
community self-reliance.” Re-accreditation was achieved in
1984, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2005 in recognition of continued
dedication to serving La Porte’s business community.

Chamber Website: www.lpchamber.com The Chamber’s website is a valuable tool for business. It offers
viewers the opportunity to search the directory of members and their contact information, view the
chamber calendar of events, order chamber publications, research economic development information
and links, contact local and state government officials and much more.
Referrals: The Chamber receives numerous phone calls and visitors who ask where to shop or stay, and
what to do in La Porte. The Chamber promotes its member businesses by giving out contact information
on members only.
Networking: The Chamber sponsors and hosts a variety of events such as Business After Hours, Ribbon
Cutting Ceremonies, Bagels & Business Breakfast Meetings, a Play Day Golf Outing, an Elected Officials
Reception, a Crazy 8’s Golf Outing, an Annual Meeting Dinner, Seminars, and many more. These events
provide members with the opportunity to meet and interact with fellow business leaders.
Business Advocacy: Through local government contact, the news media, and local lobbying, the
Chamber represents the pro growth, pro business voice of its members. The Chamber’s Government
Affairs Committee receives regular updates from local, state and federal representatives as to ongoing
legislative issues affecting business.
Broadcast Fax and Email Service: This quick and easy service allows members to send their company’s
promotional or informational flyer to the entire Chamber membership via fax or email.
Bulk Mailing Service: For those member businesses that do not have a bulk mail permit, the Chamber
will loan out its permit number allowing a direct mailing to be sent to the entire Chamber membership
saving money.
Chamber Buck Gift Certificates: The Chamber sponsors a gift certificate program designed to encourage
the community to “Shop La Porte.” The certificates, sold at the Chamber, allow recipients to purchase
goods and services from participating member businesses.
