Andalusia - the jewel of southern Spain. From its sparkling beaches to its snow-covered
Sierra Nevada mountain range, there is a seemingly endless ribbon of winding roads, fl anked by
farmland abundant with olive and citrus orchards and fields of sunflowers. Known for its beauty,
charm, music and romance, it is the home of the famous Andalusian stallion and the birthplace of
Flamenco dancing.
Captured perfectly in cast aluminum and powder-coated in a rich Cordoba fi nish are the
architectural influences of the Moors – their handsome grillwork windows and wrought iron
balustrades and gates. Equally evident is the seafaring influence of billowing sails from a place
that is the nexus of oceanic exploration. Its regal canvas canopies and tassels epitomize the coastal

The spiritual culture of Bali began long ago and still flourishes today. Folklore portrays this
island paradise as the earthly home of the Gods, rich with villages, temples, gardens and
beaches. Denpasar, the capital city of Bali, Indonesia, was once a market area at the turn of the
20th century, then later an early home to the tourist trade of the 1920s and 1930s. Courtyard
homes and gardens may still be discovered beyond temple gate entrances across the island.
Denpasar superbly conveys the exotic island experience of Bali with its meticulously hand-woven
Hularo ® fi ber over powder-coated aluminum frames in the textural colors of Borneo and
Timor. Sweeping arcs and romantic spiral volutes resonate the artistry, color and diversity of the
island’s villages and people with Dutch and Indonesian Colonial period references to authentic
Balinese architecture.

KYOTO
The legendary gardens of Kyoto are among the national treasures of Japan. Regarded as one of
the nation’s historical and cultural centers, Kyoto exemplifies the elegance and quietude of Asia’s
past. Echoing our longing for an oasis of peace and beauty, this collection is imbued with the
Japanese sensibility known as “shibui” meaning understated and refi ned, so it may complement its
surroundings in nature.
Inspired interpretations of traditional elements found in the architecture of teahouses, shoji screens
and tatami mats form the centerpiece of this new modern classic. The powder-coated cast and
extruded aluminum framework is remarkably fi nished in the rich and aged appearance of raku
pottery. The unique aesthetic of crackle-glazed ceramics originated in Asia during the 1500s,
where teachings reveal a Japanese Emperor commissioned a potter to produce special vessels for a
400-year old Zen tea ceremony.

In the mid-1700s, exotic treks and travels throughout the Orient became quite popular.
As travelers began to romanticize and document these unusual and fascinating experiences,
the legendary furniture designer Thomas Chippendale began adapting Chinese-inspired
creations to English proportions, observing the use of classic lines and timeless designs that
became known as the Chinese Chippendale style.
Orient takes us back in time to this romantic and historical era, when travel to exotic locales
was not particularly easy, yet regarded as a must for socialites and artists seeking discovery
and wonderment. Extensively detailed fretwork and latticework define the Chinese pattern
that is the dominant characteristic of Chinese Chippendale design. The framework of Orient
is uniquely crafted of powder-coated aluminum cast from real bamboo and then formed and
recast to create an authentic design aesthetic with a tortoise shell finish.

To fully appreciate Century’s Punta Cana collection, one must first know a bit
about the life of the man who inspired it.
Oscar de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic. When he was 18 years old,
de la Renta left his homeland for Spain to study art at the Academy of San
Fernando in Madrid. He soon became interested in the world of design and found
himself an apprenticeship with legendary couturier Christóbal Balenciaga.
Later, he moved to Paris, where he took a job with Antonio Castillo’s house of
Lanvin. Then, in 1963, he arrived in New York and began designing for Elizabeth
Arden. In 1965, de la Renta launched his own ready-to-wear label. Over the years
he has dressed royalty, First Ladies, Hollywood celebrities and socialites.
De la Renta has not restricted himself to the fashion arena, which is proven
through the design of Punta Cana, an outdoor collection produced exclusively by
Century Furniture.
Inspired by his Dominican resort retreat, the Punta Cana collection features
many natural elements that, when brought together, offer pure elegance and
uncompromising luxury.

Punta Cana by Oscar de la Renta features a mélange of cast stone and faux rattan reflecting an
attitude of relaxed island living.
This collection is remarkable for its scope and variety—from sophisticated 18th Century
inspired teak pieces, to casually inviting upholstery, to Caribbean woven rattan designs. Each
item incorporates individually hand-woven wickerwork, which is made of an innovative resin
called Hularo ®.
The Hularo ® synthetic fibers are made from fully-dyed polyethylene materials, which are very
strong, environmentally friendly, 100% toxic free, recyclable and maintenance free.
The material contains U V inhibitors preventing the woven fibers from drying out in the sun
or fading in color. The lightweight, powder-coated aluminum frame gives excellent stability.
This durable combination of materials creates furniture that is weather-resistant, colorfast
and rust resistant.

This collection was created by one of the greatest
design talents alive today, Oscar de la Renta.
It is based on the actual furniture and the
architecture of his home and gardens in Punta
Cana, in the Dominican Republic.
• Each piece is handmade and requires 40 to 50
hours of labor.
• The herringbone and cane weaving patterns
used in this design are labor intensive and
beautiful to behold.
• The Hularo® fiber is the premier resin weaving
material worldwide; superior in content, color,
UV stability and weather-resistance. It has a very
long life and is made from recyclable material.
• The extruded shape of the Hularo® weaving
material is flat not round for an extremely soft
