Social Nights were held at Mi Ranchito and McVey’s Restaurant and the number of members and guests increased with each outing. At year end, the Chamber held 71 active members. New to the Chamber in 2014 were: Lowell Carpets & Coverings, Tiger Plumbing, Cedar Creek Health Campus, Franciscan Alliance Services, Oxford/Sagamore Mortgage Services, A+ Tax & Accounting Services and Signature Banquets. The Chamber participated/ contributed towards the following events: Labor Day Fest & Parade, 3rd Annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction Event, Halloween Hoopla, Holiday Magic & Tree Lighting Festivities, Franciscan Alliance Ribbon Cutting & Cedar Creek Health Campus Ribbon Cutting. Sophia Mazuria received the 2014 LHS $500 Scholarship Award. The Chamber was also a member in the Buy Local NWI Initiative. New member benefits for 2014 included: Notary services, Member of the Month spotlights and Chamber conference room in addition to the updated services on the website. Technically speaking, the Chamber website received a complete update to include an interactive calendar for member events as well as a 3rd Annual Wine Tasting held at Signature Banquets Franciscan Alliance Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Message From the President Member Aron Schurhke State Farm Agency participated in the Holiday Parade of Lights. As the new year starts to take shape, I am looking forward to working with you as your new Board President. I would like to say thank you to Tara Klahn for her time and dedication during her term and wish her well in her future endeavors. My wife and I are life-long Region residents and intend on raising our two children here. I currently sit as a Director on the Tri-Creek Education Foundation and have been with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance for over 10 years. I am looking forward to getting to know our Member businesses and find different ways of helping to promote each business individually. More involvement with our Members is also important. Whether it’s your attendance at a meeting or asking a question or voicing your concern, the Chamber appreciates your feedback. My promise to you is that the Chamber will continually strive to better itself so we can work together towards success. Chamber Chatter Page 2 Chamber News 2015 is going to be a busy year! We have several events in the works! Stop in the Chamber Office to pick up your Buy Local Decal! First, at a Board Meeting held in November, the following 2015 Directors were voted on unanimously: Michael Hanger, President; Linda Baer, Vice-President; Linda Bourrell, Treasurer; Claudia White, Secretary; Norma Gonzalez, Director; Garry Bales, Director; Deana Sutton, Director. The Chamber is planning a Business Community Showcase for Saturday, March 21st. This event will be held at Lowell High School. Additional information will be sent to members by the beginning of February. As this is an ideal location, we are asking all Members to get involved in this event and take advantage of a great promotion opportunity for your business! The Chamber is also looking into planning a golf outing sometime in June. More information will be sent in February. Doesn’t matter if you are a scratch golfer or social golfer, come out and enjoy! The 4th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction will once again be held in October. It is a night of fun: bidding on items and wine tasting. We are looking for donations for the silent auction and will be sending out letters in April. Social Nights will be held once a month from 6pm-8pm with a different location for each event. If you haven’t had a chance to attend, it’s a great way to meet other Members and network. Questions? Contact the Chamber office at 696.0231. Town News Lowell Parks Department has the Winter/Spring 2015 Programs and Events schedule up and on the Town website. Some activities offered: Bumper Bowling, Soccer, Wado-Ki Karate, Tumble-Bear Pre-School Classes, Gymnastics, and Just Dance. Open Gym for Volleyball, Soccer and Dodgeball are also available. Check the Lowell website at www.lowell.net. The Parks Department is also offering the following Senior Happenings at the Lowell Library: February 26th - LHS Jazz Band and Dessert at 11am, March 11th - Bill Jamerson performs at 1pm. Spring Soccer registration will be held at Town Hall on Friday, February 20th from 6pm8pm and Saturday, February 21st from 9am-11am. Members and business reps from the area came out to network and sample some of the beers offered. The Chamber would like to thank Route 2 Brews for their hospitality and wonderful catered food! Information was given on different events that will be happening in the area and 1st Quarter 2015 within the Chamber.
