A REVOLUTIONARY new skincare
product for young people has been launched
and the firm behind it is calling on young
entrepreneurs to join its co-operative and
become part its growing sales force.
JooMo, which is the first ever 100% truly
natural face wash, is the invention of former
chemist Nick Wallen and marketing expert
Linda Russell, who developed the product
after their teenage twin sons struggled to
find a safe, effective product to combat their
acne.
With youth unemployment in the UK running at 22%, the two social entrepreneurs
are aiming to provide the chance for young
people to build a business for themselves
and develop valuable business skills in the
process.
The social entrepreneurs are now giving
young people between the ages of 16-24 the
opportunity to join the JooMo co-operative,
and hope one day that this co-operative
enterprise will be run by young people.
Nick Wallen, co-founder of JooMo, said:
“Young people have been instrumental in
the success the business has had so far. Our
teenage sons were the reason we set up the
business, we worked with students from the
University of West London on the branding,
and now we are hoping to work with young
people to take the brand forward by becoming sellers.”.”
Young people who join the co-operative
have the opportunity to gain a stake in a
growing business, take a share of the profits
and also have a say in how the co-operative
founders: nick Wallen and
Linda russell
is run. Linda Russell, co-founder of JooMo,
said: “JooMo offers young people the
chance to become business owners at a very
young age. There are plenty of young entrepreneurs out there dreaming of running
their own business, and JooMo offers them
the perfect platform on which to do it.”
The first step to becoming part of the
JooMo team is a small investment of £50
which goes towards providing the sellers
with marketing materials and demonstration products. They can then buy products at
wholesale prices to supply orders.
Nick added: “We are hoping to get sellers
on board either to sell full-time or to earn a
little extra cash while continuing their studies. More people are looking at entrepreneurial activity as a career path because the
jobs market is so bleak.”
The JooMo co-operative was founded with
the help of Co-operative Futures with funding from the Co-operative Enterprise Hub.
