1 2 3 4 5 About SIMSR Somaiya Vidyavihar was established by Padmabhushan Late Shri K J Somaiya in 1959. An Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and a Visionary, he firmly believed that modern education had to have its roots in strong values. This underlying theme and legacy of Somaiya Vidyavihar was continued and strengthened by the late Dr S K Somaiya. K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) was established in 1981 as a part of K J Somaiya Trust and Somaiya Vidyavihar with the objective of providing state of the art education in management and allied areas. The institute was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh the present Prime Minister of India, and has since established itself among the top 20 B-Schools in India. The institute is nestled in a 65 acre campus in the central suburbs of Mumbai and offers Ph.D. program in Management of the University of Mumbai & SNDT Women’s University, along with several other full time and other part time Masters and Post Graduate Programmes in Business Management, and Masters in Computer Application. The Institute also offers several subject specific certificate and executive development programmes for various companies and NGOs. It has also had the privilege of developing and delivering management programmes for senior officers of the Indian Navy. The rigorous and case-based teaching – learning process ensures that the students of the Institute are able to apply their concepts to the real world business problems. Ever since our inception in 1981, we have been raising our bar year over year in terms of revamping our teaching pedagogy. All the above-mentioned programmes are especially designed for transforming students into professionals in various verticals of business thereby making them ready for the new challenges that they will encounter in the markets in future. Immersion Programmes: SIMSR successfully organized the second year of international immersion program to Shanghai & Singaporein September 2013 &March 2014. During the 9 days of the program, the team lined up a plethora of learning experiences for students in the form of factory visits (Eg: Shanghai Volkswagen, SAIC, CocaCola, etc.) and interactions with top management of famous companies (Eg: Head of Axis Bank, Head of Bharat Forge China etc.) in China. The institute plans to include more international locations in this session of its immersion programme and provide the students a true global experience! After PPT, interested students sign up for the further rounds. The company is to conduct first level selection process (GD/Case Study/Test) for interested students on the same day. This should result into a shortlist for Personal Interview Round which is to be slated during the Placement Window. In case the company cannot come for the PPT, company may forward a softcopy of their PPT which could be shared with students. CVs of interested students (who sign up after going through PPT) could be forwarded to the company and the company to revert with a shortlist for Personal Interview Round in the relevant placement window. The college also has the provision of conducting video conferencing for the purpose of Interview/GD.
