1 HPU Wireless Setup Before you begin: 1. Make sure that you have a Dial-in/Wireless Account. If you don’t have an account, please refer to the Dial-in/Wireless setup instructions before attempting to setup your wireless internet access. (Pages 2-6) 2. If you currently have a Cisco Wireless card installed with the Aironet Client Utility using LEAP authentication, then start from step 1. (Pages 7 -12) 3. If your system was not setup to use the Cisco Aironet Client Utility then begin the setup starting from step 3. (Pages 8-12) 2 Dial-in/Wireless setup Step 1: Go to the HPU Pipeline homepage http://campus.hpu.edu Step 2: Login using your campus pipeline user name and password Step 3: Go to the Student Services tab 3 Step 4: Scroll down until you see “Create a dial-in Account” on the right hand side. Step 5: Click on that link. It should pop-up a window. Click on the “Sign-up for New Account” link. 4 Step 6: Read the agreement. When you are finished, scroll to the bottom of the page and enter your Campus Pipeline user name into the box and click “Agree”. 5 Step 7: Go to your Campus Pipeline e-mail, and look for the email from radius. Step 8: Open the email and click on the link that is posted. 6 Step 9: Enter a password that you would like to use for wireless access. This password is different than the one used for Campus pipeline, but students like to use the same password to make things easier to remember. Step 10: Click Ok. Step 11: You are now finished creating a wireless account. 7 Wireless Network Setup Step 1: Load the Cisco ACU application and click “Select Profile.” Step 2: By default, this computer has the option “Use Selected Profile” marked. Click the option “Use Another Application to Configure My Wireless Settings” and then “OK.” Now close the Aironet Client Utility. It should now look like this NOTE: Computers with ACU, Skip to step 4. 8 Step 3a: Double click on the wireless icon in the system tray. Step 3b: Click “Change the order of preferred networks.” Step 3c: Click on the “Wireless Networks Tab.” Make sure the “Use windows to configure my wireless network settings” box is checked. 9 Step 4: Double click on the wireless icon in the system tray. The screen in Step 4 will pop up. Step 5: Choose “Set up a wireless network for a home or small office, then click next on the next screen. Step 6: Choose “Set up a new wireless network.” 10 Step 7: Type in the Network Name (SSID) “HPUWN” (Make sure to type the SSID in ALL CAPS) and choose the option “Manually configure my wireless setting and click next. Step 8: Type in the WEP key “facade2005” 11 Step 9: Choose “Setup a network manually.” Finished: When you see this screen, you are done! 12 Optional: Print Network Settings Note: If you click “Print Network Settings”, you should see a text file consist of your wireless configuration. If you setting matches with what’s below here, you should be ready to go online Wireless Network Settings Print this document and store it in a safe place for future reference. You may need these settings to add additional computers and devices to your network. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Wireless Settings Network Name (SSID): HPUWN Network Key (WEP/WPA Key): facade2005 Key Provided Automatically (802.1x): 0 Network Authentication Type: open Data Encryption Type: WEP Connection Type: ESS Key Index: To enable File and Printer Sharing on this computer, run the Network Setup Wizard. To set up your Internet connection, follow the instructions from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Open up your web browser and you should see a login page. Enter your Dial in/Wireless username and password and you should be ready to go online.
