ALBED
Salone del Mobile 2012
17-22 April 2012
Albed is a well-known Italian company that manufactures modular systems (bookcases,
furnished partitions, walk-in wardrobes) doors, (swing, foldaway, and sliding), and furniture
for daytime and night-time areas in residential, public, or contract spaces.
The company is continuing to consolidate its presence on the national and international
market, aiming to become increasingly well-established, and even to become a point of
reference both for designers and for end consumers. This journey is helped along the way
by important cooperative work with world-famous designers and equally renowned
architecture studios, such as the recent collaboration with Bestetti & Associati studio.
Albed products are characterised by distinctive design and high-quality materials,
allowing solutions to be designed that are distinguished by linear, light, minimalistic shapes
that can be easily adapted to different architectural and living requirements.
The company has always focused on research and development of innovative furnishings
that combine aesthetics and functionality.
Its interest in supporting and spreading design culture led the company to promote the
2011/2012 Design addicted competition, with the aim of showcasing up-and-coming
young designers. This is a clear sign of how the brand has evolved.
After evaluating all the designs entered, a panel of prestigious judges declared Brian
Sironi the winner at the beginning of the year. Through its own Research and
Development Centre, the company has worked closely with the designer over the last few
months to finalise the details of the design on paper and put it into production.
At the 2012 Salone del Mobile furniture fair, Albed will present this innovative product to
the public for the very first time: a functional and original POLI panelling system designed
by Brian Sironi, which has already received numerous prestigious awards such as the
Compasso d’Oro ADI (2011).
As well as the award-winning product, the company also offers other exclusive home
solutions such as the new swing door LEVEL designed by Paolo Cappello, LINE modular
system designed by Daniele lo Scalzo Moscheri, available in new models in different
shapes and a variety of finishes, the NILE table designed by Massimo Luca, minimalistic
with clean lines, and the most recent SOLO day and night collection designed by the
Albed Research and Development Centre, available in floor/ceiling and freestanding
versions.
New products:
POLI panelling system
Design: Brian Sironi
POLI, designed by Brian Sironi, is an innovative, flexible, and adjustable panelling system.
It can be applied to any surface, even non-linear surfaces, to add functionality and cover
walls to create a unique and exclusive space. There are countless possible configurations
as the collections comes in many different colours and materials such as glass, wood, and
laminated finishes.
The range can be expanded according to individual requirements. In fact, you can
create the panelling by applying different materials to those in the catalogue on request,
such as plasterboard, ceramics, or stone. These materials can be provided directly by the
customer themselves. This service offers the perfect solution for creating continuity
between rooms, precisely because it allows the same finishing as in other rooms in the
house to be used.
The company can customise and adapt the model according to the architectural needs
of the customer. If there is an opening, the design allows for a swing door to be fitted with
the same finish as the panelling and the handle incorporated into the panel to create an
“invisible” effect.
Another special feature is that the panels can be positioned in a staggered pattern, so that
they are not on the same level. The design can also include open compartments or
compartments with doors, drawer units, and shelves that can be used for storage or as
supporting surfaces. Incorporating these accessories further accentuates the different
levels of depth that can be created and which breathe life into an interplay of irregular
shapes.
The configuration that is achieved has a very attractive visual effect, as well as being
extremely practical and functional.
The panelling can be positioned on the wall with uprights at different distances (20-30-4560-90-120-150cm) that give it an appearance of irregularity “that creates diversity and
customisation”, as the designer Brian Sironi himself puts it.
In fact, POLI can be adapted into a bookcase configuration for living spaces, or
transformed into a walk-in wardrobe for bedrooms.
So many products in just one system: simple, yet cutting edge, offering a solution that is
innovative, but that can be easily adapted to different living environments, and much
more.
LEVEL swing door
Design: Paolo Cappello
LEVEL is a swing door that can apparently look like many other doors, but it actually holds
an extraordinary surprise: when closed, the panel totally covers the frame.
The trick is there, but it isn’t seen. The illusion is disclosed when the door is open, so you can
see that the panel is composed of two elements with different heights, and the external
part covers the frame. The effect is a door with a very reduced thickness, looking like a
surface laid on the wall.
LEVEL is an essential and minimalistic model, easily adaptable in different contexts. Albed
proposes the panel in hollow-core wood lacquered with the wide RAL range or in glass,
while the frame is in painted aluminium.
LINE day system
Design: Daniele lo Scalzo Moscheri
LINE is the result of the Albed company’s strong need to broaden the domestic segment.
A modular system for living spaces in home characterised by a high level of adaptability.
For the 2012 Salone del Mobile furniture fair, the company is expanding its range with a
version of the bookcase that has been given a completely new, vertical look with new
configurations offering different shapes and functionalities, like the low sideboard. The
bookcase is designed to optimise space in small rooms and niches, now being narrower,
with a width of L 120cm, and taller. The low sideboard, which has a set of drawers in the
middle, not only functions as a storage unit that can be positioned in entrance rooms, but
can also be used as a modern footboard or as a practical bench.
The company is also presenting other incredible new products that demonstrate the
versatility of this collection: from suspended features that allow you to unleash your
imagination and construct your own furnished wall just the way you want it, to the shelf
with an audio system to provide ambient music, or the back panel fitted into the
supporting structure to hold a television.
The range of RAL colours that can be used to finish off the fittings (fold-down containers,
drawer units, door panels) is also being expanded, as well as a new structure painted in
charcoal grey as well as black and white to allow the design to be completely
customised.
NILE table
Design: Massimo Luca
The name comes from an anagram of the word “line”, precisely because its shape is long
and simplistic like a line.
The NILE table, which is intended for either a working or living environment, is made with a
RAL coloured aluminium structure with a pane of lacquered glass.
The wide range of finishes allows the customer to customise the model according to their
own style and requirements.
The legs are triangular and have an external profile that further accentuates the
minimalistic and clean style of the model.
SOLO day and night system
Design: Albed Research and Development Centre
The SOLO modular system designed by the company’s Research and Development
Centre is available as a freestanding or floor/ ceiling model, configured as a bookcase for
living spaces, or as a walk-in wardrobe for bedrooms.
SOLO offers a single profile model that can be used to create both the wall version and
the free-standing version. This technical feature allows the design and the assembly of the
numerous possible configurations to be simplified.
The system is available in a double-faced version that can therefore be positioned in the
middle of a room to optimise the available space and use the system as a practical room
partition.
