As we all continue to thaw from a cold, snowy winter, it’s
exciting to look ahead to what promises to be a fun and
activity-filled spring and summer. At The W, we are looking
forward to more program-packed months. This brochure
includes the details of the many programs available to youth
and adults of all ages, interests, and abilities. In my family,
my wife and our four children are excited to participate in a
number of the program offerings and even more excited that
many of them involve getting outdoors and enjoying the
warmer weather. One great feature here at The W is that even
on days when the weather may not allow us to be outside, we
can simply move programs indoors rather than cancel. Last
year we brought tennis, soccer, minor league baseball, and
T-ball inside on days when the weather was bad.
Although many youth in our community are involved in AAU or similar programs, we believe it is
important to offer activities at the recreational level, allowing children of all abilities and income
levels to participate in fun, safe, and educational programs. A wide range of opportunities for both
children and adults are packed in the following pages. I encourage you to sign up for a program
you enjoyed last year or try something totally new that sparks your interest.
Registration is easy. Simply visit The W website at www.the-w.org/rec.html to register online or
fill out the registration page in this brochure and drop it off at our Welcome Desk. If you have any
questions or need help registering, please call us at 319-352-8716.
If you have any questions or suggestions for new programs, don’t hesitate to contact us at
thew@wartburg.edu or 319-352-8738. We are excited to offer all of the outstanding programs
and opportunities outlined in the following pages and are looking forward to seeing you and your
family around the facility. There is a place for everyone at The W!
Hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Doug Frazell
