The small and beautiful village of Amer is located in a small valley between la
Selva and la Garrotxa regions, halfway between Olot and Girona
In a temperate and humid climate, there is a plentiful of forests of chestnuts, oaks, and
pines, as well as cultivated fields with cereals, orchards and hazel woods; all
surrounded by the volcanic orography of the area.

As a result of this natural environment, it offers to the visitors multiple routes to practice
mountain activities or hiking:
La Ruta de les Ermites (The Hermitage Route) which will take us to visit the hermitages of
Santa Brígida, Sant Genís, Pietat, Sant Climent’s church and the hermitage of Sant Marçal
located in the property of el Colomer.
La volta al mont d’Amer (Route around Amer’s hill) leads us to discover a tour between
prominent historical remains of the region like Estela’s castle, Sant Silvestre’s tower or
medicinal springs as Font Pudosa and Font Picant (the spring is located in el Colomer)
where mineral water spring from the rich volcanic subsoil of the region.

The situation is unbeatable:
It is located 22km (14 mi) from the airport and the city of Girona and its
facilities: golf course, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.
108 km (67 mi) from Barcelona
Less than one hour from Costa Brava and Pyrenees: halfway between
picturesque Mediterranean villages like Palafrugell, Tossa, Begur or
L’Estartit and ski stations of Girona Pyrinees.

El Colomer rural property is located in the northeast of Amer municipality, on the natural
spring of Font Picant, and dated back to the 19th century.
Covering an area of 221ha, el Colomer comprises two settlements: el Colomer de Baix
and el Colomer de Dalt. They are surrounded by lush forests of oaks and chestnuts,
variety of mushrooms and the aforementioned natural springs and carbonic gas fields.
El Colomer de Baix, partially restored with paved access, is the main core.
Sant Marçal hermitage, dated back to early Romanesque (12th century) and newly
rebuilt, three fully equipped masia (typical Catalan country houses) completely restored,
an ancestral home and a haystack (unrestored) are located in this area.
El Colomer de Dalt is at the highest levels, once we go deep into the forest through the
more than 40km of roads that owns the property. It consists in 7 currently abandoned
masia (country houses).

About 500m from the main road which connects Olot and Amer we arrive to
the main site of el Colomer property: el Colomer de Baix.
Fully paved and easily accessible by motor vehicle, el Colomer de Baix is fully
equipped with all necessary amenities like electricity, water and septic tanks,
etc.

Casa Adriana
First masia is located in the central square close to the hermitage. The country house
has a stone façade, an exterior woodwork made with natural wood, two floors and a

total area of 120m consisting of:
2 double rooms
3 bathrooms (one in each bedroom and a general one)

2 dinning rooms
Amenities: fireplace, oil heating, air conditioning, etc.

About 50m from casa Adriana we arrive to casa Paula (stone façade and exterior

woodwork made with natural wood) which has a total area of 82m and two floors with
these rooms:

Last country house is located behind of casa Paula. Casa Natalia has exterior

Sant Marçal hermitage
An hermitage dated back to early Romanesque (12th century), subsidiary of
Amer’s monastery. Sant Marçal del Colomer was rebuilt in the 15th century
after being destroyed by a series of earthquakes which hit the region.
Its original floor is preserved: one nave and rectangular apse. The door
presents a semicircular arch and has a nice two-eye bell-gable. It has been
recently restored in 1995.

Ancestral house
El Colomer really is an ancestral home which gives the name to the entire property.
The main house has two floors and attic with arch door, monolithic lintel windows and
a tiled three arch arcade in the attic. Curiously, a hundred-year-old hackberry is
located just behind the ancestral house. It also has a haystack.

Services building
An unfinished new building which covers a total area of approximately 850m2
for services among which were gym, spa and wine cellar. At the top, there is a
big terrace right on the square where the hermitage and the three country
houses.
The engine room (heating, air conditioning, electricity and water meters) is
also located here, next to a garage and a small workshop.

El Colomer de Dalt is located at the top of the rural property. There are more
than 40km of roads and paths which connect el Colomer de Baix, el Colomer
de Dalt and the rest of the points of the property.
There are a total of 7 unrestored country houses that offer many possibilities in
el Colomer de Dalt.

Projects
The strategic situation next to important cities as Barcelona or Girona, its
enviable natural environment and the natural springs, make el Colomer the
best place to develop rural tourism and adventure projects.
Developing a rural resort with sports and leisure areas. It is also
possible to build a Pitch & Putt. El Colomer de Baix and el
Colomer de Dalt would be restored as apartments. The haystack
would be converted into a services area (restaurant, coffee
shop, etc). The natural springs and thermal mud could be used
for beauty treatments.
Creating a Parc Animalier and a farm school with
accommodation for groups and schools. Flight demonstrations
of raptors, demonstration of Atura’s dogs (typical Catalan
Sheepdog), more than 100 animals in semi freedom. Trekking,
biking, horseback riding, autochthonous nature museum...

Creating a Mountain-Bike Park with different descent levels and routes:
leveraging the greenway that surrounds the property and the access to a
large number of Sant Martí de Sacalm routes from el Colomer de Dalt .
Tourist and hotel development of old and new building: rural tourism and
adventure sports.
Logging: a 10 Megawatts biomass power plant. Supply of firewood for the
state and nearby municipalities. Profitable and amortizable project over a
short period of time. It is considered acceptable by Amer council and
Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan government) which offers a financial
aid.
The steam from the turbine could be used for domestic hot water, heating
and air conditioning of rural apartments, houses, SPA center or any others
projects developed.
