One Cable Solution
NAD AV Receivers allow you to input any type of signal (HDMI, composite, component or
s-video) and use a ‘one wire’ connection to your TV. NAD leaves the video processing where
it belongs, in your display, avoiding multiple format conversions.
This allows you to switch both the audio going to your speakers and the picture being sent to
your TV with one button on your remote control!

Consumer Electronics Control (CEC)
NAD have adapted the CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature in all their new
AV Receivers. CEC is a feature designed to allow the user to command and control
two or more CEC-enabled devices, that are connected using HDMI, by only using
one of their remote controls.
Using the NAD on screen display menu, turn CEC “on” and now you can control
your CEC-enabled devices with your NAD remote control.

EARS
Surround sound offers a number of effects (‘Hall’, ‘Stadium’, ‘Church’ modes etc.) that can
sound oddly artificial and in our opinion, sound inferior. To keep the sound real the NAD
team devised their own music surround mode called Enhanced Retrieval system (EARS).
EARS extracts the natural ambience present in nearly all well-produced stereo recordings. It
does not synthesise any ambience or other sonic elements and therefore remains truer to
the sound of the original musical performance than most other music-surround options.

PowerDrive™
To maximise NAD’s real Full Disclosure
Power, we’ve developed an amplifier
circuit called PowerDrive. Music and films
have dynamic passages with everything
from a whisper to an explosion. Very little
power is required for a whisper, but an
explosion demands high-current drive and
high dynamic power. To meet such
demands, we created our patented PowerDrive amplifier circuit, cementing our reputation
for amazingly effective power. By adding a second high voltage rail to our well-regulated,
high current power supply, we get ‘overdrive’ that can nearly double the continuous
power for a short term. It’s like having turbo boost for your amplifier or receiver.
PowerDrive takes the stress out of music and cinematic climaxes by using its incredible
power reserves. It also makes our amplifiers and receivers run cooler and more efficiently
for greater reliability.

Soft Clipping®
NAD understand that no matter how much power is provided, there will always be a
demand for more. When an amplifier is overdriven – asked to go beyond its capabilities –
the result is distortion or ‘clipping’. This can cause damage to your loudspeakers. NAD’s
answer to this is the patented NAD Soft Clipping circuit which, when switched on, will
gently transform the sound waveform as the point of clipping approaches. The result is
much clearer sound reproduction and simultaneous protection of speakers.

Audyssey MultEQ
A patented method that uses a microphone (supplied) and measures the acoustical space to compensate for distortion.
MultEQ evaluates everything that causes distortion: frequency response variations and reflections that arrive at different
times. AVRs, theatres, cars and studio equipment outfitted with MultEQ use this information to produce a more accurate
tonal balance, better bass and more realistic imaging. MultEQ removes distortion so that every audio system – from budget
home theatres to world-class cinemas and cars – sounds amazing.
Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ
These two technologies work together to address the problem of large jumps in volume when switching between different
TV channels or when advertisements are inserted into the program. There is also an effect caused by our ears’ different
sensation of low and high frequencies at different listening levels: as the volume is reduced our sensation of bass
frequencies is reduced more than the midrange frequencies.
