This way the cassettes can be changed during printing. To compensate for variations in resin formulation, printhead sensitivity setting can be altered to accommodate the various colours. – A mark on the ribbon indicates that the ribbon is at its end but it still can complete the current pass. Summa DC Series users can optionally enable or disable the over-print feature via their printer's control panel. With the ScratchGuard feature internal to the printer, customers are not required to modify their graphics to allow for an over-printing object. Abrasion Resistance In mechanical stress tests, ScratchGuard-protected graphics were three times as abrasion resistant when compared to images that were printed without the ScratchGuard added. Solvent Resistance ScratchGuard has also been shown to significantly increase resistance to solvents. Testing with alcohol, for example, showed a 10-fold increase in durability. It removes the dust and debris that can cause image flaws in thermal transfer printing. But unlike any other vinyl precleaning methods, OptiPrint cleans your vinyl media immediately prior to laying down the first colour pass. That means there’s no time for additional airborne particles to settle on your media prior to printing. So you get Optimal Printing that no other thermal transfer printer can match. While the cleaning roll itself cleans the media’s surface, the adhesive roll will take up the dust and debris from the cleaning roll. The adhesive roll is made up of removable sheets, meaning you can use the system without maintenance. In this mode a single dot is created by printing two dots just next to each other (this mode does not consume extra ribbon !). This mode can be activated through the control panel. • High Res (2.3m2/h CMY) The 600x300 dpi mode (24dpmm x 12dpmm) increases the sharpness of vector graphics, and creates more colour depth in images. This mode can be activated in the RIP. The user has 4 options, each giving a different result as output: - Slow: increases the print quality (lower banding, better transfer of ribbon to the material), but print speed is 40 % slower - Medium: increases the print quality (lower banding, better transfer of ribbon to the material), but print speed is 20 % slower - Standard: factory speed setting - Fast: will reduce wrinkling effect on materials, making it possible to print on some specific materials. This however reduces the print quality.
