The Florin Road Partnership’s board members
and merchants support The Florin Road
Foundation’s annual Beach Blanket Bingo
fundraiser. Almost $20,000 was raised in 2013 for
local schools and community organizations. The
event has been graciously hosted by Florin Road
Bingo for the past 11 years.

Signs of the Times
A number of businesses celebrated Grand Openings in the Florin Road Business
District in 2013, including: 99 Cents Only Stores; Anna’s Linens; Assemblymember
Richard Pan, M.D.; Bodhi Bowl Restaurant; EcoMall; H&R Block; Integrity Auto
Sales; IRK Auto Repair & Body Shop; Krispy Kreme; Matador Motors; Sacramento
Community Medical Center; ShopKP; Star Furniture; SuperShopper Auto Inc.;
Super Taco; Taste of Jamaica; Universal Security Academy, and Yo Massage.
Western Dental & Orthodontics re-opened after extensive building renovations.
And Paratransit, Inc. celebrated their 35th Anniversary.
South Sacramento, from A to Z
The Florin Road Partnership promoted our 500-plus
businesses through a special collaboration with the Oak
Park Business Association and the Stockton Boulevard
Partnership.
The result was a colorful, multilingual business directory
that featured restaurant guides, advertisements from
local merchants and a discount card. Twenty-thousand
copies were distributed to businesses and residents
throughout the Sacramento area.

Streetscape
Promoted public activities that drew
thousands of visitors to our district. This
included the weekly Farmers’ Market at
Sears, the annual TET Festival along
Stockton Blvd., the Spring Carnival and
Show-N-Shine vehicle show at
Southgate Plaza, the 11th Annual Beach
Blanket Bingo at Florin Road Bingo & the
Annual Museum Day at the SOJO
Museum at Florin Road and 24th Street.
Continued working with city staff and

Represented the business district at
Chamber of Commerce and
neighborhood association events.
Donated to Appreciation BBQ for
Volunteers in Partnership with the Sheriff.
SMUD on undergrounding utility lines to
improve the appearance and
accessibility of the corridor.
House of Hope removed 2,486 bags of
trash, 732 illegally posted signs, and
returned 800 abandoned shopping carts
to merchants.

Safety & Security
Increased private security patrols to
remove illegal street vendors, especially
during key retail holidays such as Easter,
Valentine’s Day & Mothers’ Day.
Paladin Private Security responded to
438 calls for service from our merchants
and property owners, resulting in 296
subjects ejected and 13 arrested.
Attended meetings of the Sacramento
Co. Sheriff’s Business Advisory Council.
Hosted quarterly Security Task Force
meetings for merchants and property
owners. Had a special presentation by
the Sheriff’s Department Metal Theft
Task Force.
Worked with neighboring business
associations on solutions to common
safety and security issues.
