Winner to receive the Geraint Y Gof Memorial Cup Friday night’s triple twenty teach-ins We are very excited to announce our brand new entertainment for Friday night: 3 exciting topics, 20 mins each. Designed to be both interactive and inspirational. Broaden your horizons and try something new with your Veteran – join us to find out how and be inspired! Session 1: Under the habit… Why not teach an old horse new tricks and introduce your veteran to side saddle? Have you always thought it looks too hard, is too expensive or your horse is not schooled well enough? Then think again! We are honoured to have the Side Saddle Association here to talk to us about why Veterans are particularly well suited to taking up side saddle and to dispel the myth that this sport is only for the well-connected and well-heeled. This 20 minute canter through will cover the basics of the saddle itself, the rider’s position and riding basics as well as the different types of clothing. The audience will be treated to a demo of side saddle jumping before hearing how easy it is for you to get started with your veteran. Session 2: Dressed for success… Costume concours d’elegance classes are growing in popularity in modern day showing, both in hand and ridden, astride and side saddle. Getting involved for the first time can be a daunting experience but it needn’t be. We are delighted to welcome Rebecca Jayne Rawlinson, queen of concours classes, to share her secrets with you and explain exactly what it is the judges are looking for. Sit back and enjoy the wonderful display of these stunning costumes. We hope you will feel inspired to give it a go the next day! Session 3: Ask the judges… Following the success of our master class ‘Through the judge’s eyes’ last year, we have invited a selection of judges and our speakers into the ring for a Question and Answer session for our Friday night finale. This is a session designed just for you. If you have a burning big question you’d love an answer to, or that little etiquette thing you are never quite sure of, then now is your perfect chance to get your answer. From questions on turnout to ringcraft, etiquette to marking systems – just what is the judge looking for? Audience participation is invited in order to make this as interactive and useful as possible. No question is out of bounds, let’s hear you put our judges through their paces! 10 Saturday 24th September - Ring 1 (Main Indoor Arena) All start times shown are ‘not before’ times 09:00 09:30 Class 101 Best Turned Out Judge: G Sebright Open to all.
