Outbound May 09
Martinis, mayhem, men and May! Yes, it’s the time of year when everyone’s spring fever is about to erupt. Looking for something wacky and wild to do this month? Check out Iron Cupcake Milwaukee! This wonderful event is held by Milwaukee’s Cupcake Queen, my friend Sandy. Each Iron Cupcake pits bakers against one another using cuppies containing a unique ingredient. May 26, join the fun at The Irish Pub (the old M&M Club). Starting at 6:00 p.m. bakers will assemble to test their cupcakes, each using an assortment of spices from the Spice House. Visit www.ironcupcakemilwaukee.com for information on how you can enter or simply be a taste-testing judge. June 22, the theme is sure to be wild with yours truly as a special guest at the cupcake-a-thon!!! For a fun change of pace, check out the comedy “Regrets Only” by Paul Rudnick (the guy who wrote “Jeffrey”). The cast of RSVP Productions opens the delightful show on May 14 at the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center. Call the box office at 414-272-5694 for ticket information. I think that’s about it for this month folks! Now, let’s hunker down and read a letter! D ea r R ut h ie, I’ve become a friend with a co-worker. I admit that he’s cute, but other than that we’re just friends. I’m happy with my partner (5 years), and have no intention of cheating on him with my co-worker. I have a few other friends at work and they keep saying that I’m flirting with this guy and that we’re clearly more than friends. We goof around a lot and buy each other coffee and lunch sometimes, but that’s about it. I made the mistake of telling a friend that I think about this co-worker sometimes over the weekend and that sometimes I look forward to seeing him on Mondays…but that doesn’t mean I’m in love with the guy or that I want to cheat on my partner with him. Help me prove to my friends that I’m not some whore at work, and that being nice to someone doesn’t mean that I have feelings for him. Thanks, Stayin’ True Trent D e a r Tr e n t , There is nothing wrong with being the office slut. In fact, that’s how I met my second ex-husband, my sixth fiancé and Donald Trump. Are you a white collar whore? Ask yourself these questions: Have you started paying extra attention to what you’re wearing to work? Do you email him with personal jokes and whatnot more than you email your other work friends? Do you think about him outside the workplace regularly…such as “I hope he’s watching this TV show, too? If you answered yes to a few of these questions you may have a crush on your amigo. Whatever you do, do not send him emails or make comments that are suggestive in anyway. Do not take advantages of opportunities to be alone with him, and do not start hiding facts about your relationship with this co-worker from your partner. If you do any of these things, I’d have to agree with your friends, and say that you’re skating on thin ice when it comes to cheating on your partner. Hopefully, all is fine and your friendship won’t blossom into something else, but if not, you may want to back off the friendship a bit and put a little more energy back into your relationship. Write me back in a month or so and tell me where you are with things (dearmsruthie@yahoo.com). Since the summer sun isn’t ready to make a regular appearance, I thought we’d enjoy some tangy eats…even if you’re not ready to fire up the grill. These dinners come together in a snap but taste like you spent hours on them. Now, eat good and shut up! Finger-Lickin’ Tenderloin A tangy-ass salad dressing makes this pork roast a trailer park treasure. The recipe was shared by Jeff who prepared it in his home in Jackson. Thanks for sending the recipe Jeff! Your free Bitchin’ Kitchen Tshirt is on the way! 1 pork tenderloin (1 lb.) ¼ cup Western Salad Dressing 1 teaspoon chili powder 1teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground mustard (aka dry mustard) ½ teaspoon paprika ¼ teaspoon dried thyme 1 tablespoon brown sugar Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brush meat with 2 tablespoons of salad dressing. In a small bowl, mix the next five ingredients together. Rub seasoning mixture onto meat. Place in meat in a shallow baking pan. Mix the remaining salad dressing with the brown sugar and set aside. Bake pork for 15 minutes. Brush pork with dressing mixture. Bake an additional 10 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees and middle of pork is only slightly pink. I turned broiler on last few min to get the mixture really brown. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes before slicing Ruthie’s Culinary Clues Can’t find Western salad dressing? Try using Catalina dressing instead. You can also replace the brown sugar with an equal amount of honey. Look for ground or dry mustard in the spice aisle of your grocery store. For extra color and texture, Jeff turned on his broiler for a few minutes after the pork cooked. Crazy Fries Ricky from Bay View sent this easy way to perk up frozen French fries. Yum! 1 bag (28 oz.) frozen French fries Nonstick cooking spray Chili powder Garlic salt Pepper Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place half of the fries on a baking sheet. Return the rest of the fries to the freezer for future use. Spritz the fries with cooking spray. Sprinkle the fries with the chili powder, garlic salt and pepper. Bake 9 minutes, turning the fries once during baking. Ruthie’s Culinary Clues If you have it on hand, olive-oil flavored cooking spay is a nice touch. Watching your salt intake? Use garlic powder instead. And if you have a pizza stone, try that instead of the baking sheet. Have a question or recipe for Ruthie? By popular demand – The 22nd Annual Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival will return to the month of October (15 – 25) at The Oriental and UWM Union Theatres. These days I’m thoroughly enjoying the bluesy, pop, jazz sounds of Jerry Grillo and his Band. “Some Of The Best” is his current and eighth CD out there for all to thrill. In last month’s effort, I reported Jerry would be at The Milwaukee Gay Arts Center doing a fun, fundraiser for CCF. Unfortunately, that gig had to be postponed and once a date is established I will share that with you. Just like her son, she knew how to light up a room with her smile! And so ends another effort, remember it is the glamour not the grammar. Happy Memorial Day Weekend, let the Summer commence! As I remain Still Cordially yours,. Greetings Gossip Mongers, Happy Spring Awakenings! It has been awhile since the last column and a lot has transpired since the last column. I will try to get to all the goings on and upcoming events that are coming up so let’s get to all the gossip that is fit to print. To begin with M’s will be hosting a reunion party for the old M&M Club that closed three years ago on May 2nd. Brian and the staff at M’s have a lot of surprises in store with many old faces and friends from the M&M Club days as well as a special guest that may make back for this historical event. With the theme of M&M Club there will be a special Broadway theme show to honor this venerable institution. So stop down and reconnect with old friends as well as make new ones. Also a side note M’s hosted their Easter gala with many bonnets on parade. Entertainment was provided by the Squeezettes with Sara at the helm. Special kudos go to the drummer with the group who enraptured many with some of his natural attributes in addition to his musical skills. First place went to Ginger who bonnet was inspired by Godzilla trampling the Easter parade in all its glory. Design provided by David Hauser. Mil-Maids had a great turnout in Milwaukee at the AMF West Allis bowling lanes. With a turnout of 200 plus to bowl for charity, a great time was had by all. Once again Victor’s hosted the after party with Gary behind the bar and MaryAnn doling out the culinary delights. One of the bowling balls at the lanes was not an inanimate object with everyone trying to try on for size. To those who missed out Velveeta and Dear Ruthie did film some shenanigans so you will be able to check it out soon at the NAGAAFEST website. La Cage celebrated a milestone on April 24th with 25 years of business as the premier niteclub in Milwaukee. They started with a special VIP cocktail reception and a show of entertainers of years gone by that have graced this wonderful venue. On a side note Miss Alex is back in town after starring in a special film to help get her one step closer to becoming the true diva that she is. Apologies go out to security Andy for my impromptu body search on him during a recent visit. Billy Kirchen is also hosting a special presentation of his new musical as a benefit for Alex in May. Check with La Cage for details and moi who will be selling tickets for this worthwile event. A recent alum of La Cage, Matt will be soon behind the rails at Triangle starting 6am to noon on Saturdays and Sundays. Another alum Shelly is over at the Nut Hut on Tuesdays. Another one bites the dust with Pumphose now closed. With plans in order to turn it into a new restaurant. It would be nice to have someone with a clear view on what direction they want to take with it. Good luck! If you read this Janet Ross get a hold of me for shows at M’s. Toby and Kurt the new proprietors at Woody’s are sprucing up the place in advance for the deluge of sports enthusiasts that will be hitting Beertown Labor day. I hear they are finally put the finishing touches on the upside down ark that is the ceiling in the back room. Also for all you tennis enthusiasts Toby now shows tennis year round so we can now get our Rafael Nadal fix. A big hello goes out to my sisters Renee & Katrina K of Green Bay’s Napalese Lounge who graced our town back in March. Over at Kruz Jerry is doing great although now he looks like my hottie Kenny Chesney with his black cowboy hat and John John congrats on starting your practice with your sister. We will miss you behind the bar. I’m sure I missed some things however that is why you can always do another column, please forgive me. So until we meet again keep the liquor flowing and the talk cheap! Love Chi-Chi Well as I sit here staring out of my office window I can’t help but think, and hope that winter is now behind us and summer is here to stay. With those summer hopes and dreams I want to, once again, remind you that Pridefest and the Pride Parade Are fast approaching. Just a little over one month and they will both be here! Pridefest will happen once again at Milwaukee’s lakefront at Henry Maier Festival park (Summerfest grounds) June 12th-14th, for more info visit their website at www.pridefest.com. The parade is also coming. It will take place on Sunday June 14th at 2:00pm; the route is still from Greenfield Ave to Seeboth Ave along 2nd street. Also Kudos to the parade committee on 5 years of great parades!! Congrats!! For more info check out their website at www.pridepardemke.org. Alright now that that’s done let’s get on with it shall we? This month with summer fast approaching I thought I would be good to talk about tattoos. While avid readers of my column will recall that I am a strong believer in getting tattooed and pierced in the winter most people don’t listen and will get their work done in the summer. With the summer coming a few precautions and things to know about will help you in the care of your new tattoo in the harsh days of summer. First off, let’s review how to heal your tattoo. Wait a min, we did this before and if I remember correctly that took a whole damn column to explain!! So, let’s just go over a quick review. 1. Don’t ever pick the scabs!! (Pick your nose and not your tattoo okay!) 2. Keep the tattoo out of water, with exception to when you wash it every day with mild antibacterial soap. 3. Moisturize your skin according to what your tattooist recommends. If they don’t recommend it then don’t do it. 4. Listen to your tattooist!! (The most important thing I think) Well that about wraps up how to take care of them, I wonder why the last time we did this it took a column? (That’s right it’s called “fill” in the industry) Second of all, you absolutely need to make sure to protect your tattoo from the sun. This means using clothing to cover it or using sun block, not sun screen, on your tattoo. The sun destroys your skin cells (which is what makes you tan along with a bunch of medical stuff that will put anyone to sleep) which allows the ink form the tattoo to spread out in your skin. Overtime this will make your tattoo look fuzzy and almost out of focus. The only cure for this is to have the tattoo redone, a very costly position as you are now paying for the same tattoo twice! This is even more important if your tattoo is fresh as the skin has yet to heal from the initial injury, by putting it in the sun you are just hurting it more. Lastly, make sure you protect your tattoo while you are out enjoying that wonderful weather. By this type of protection I of course mean against physical damage. (i.e. dirt, concrete, your drunk friend hitting it) A fresh tattoo is very sensitive and delicate, even a small cut or scrap on the tattoo could cause major damage to the artwork below. So be wary of this fact when getting your tattoo if you are going to be doing anything at the beach or participating in a sporting event, as both of those things can easily damage a tattoo beyond repair in some cases. And this all I have to say about that. This month the mail bag was kind of dry and about all that was in there was a couple pieces of hair, two letters from my personal stalker, and a small man who I think I attempting to smuggle something into the country. (I think I’ll just leave him tied up in the bag for right now and open that one later) So without reader mail I am once again forced to plug away the upcoming pride events. Pridefest has announced their entertainers for the year and I have to say that it is a great line-up, with the exception that I had to Google a few of the names on the stage list to find out who they are. (or were as the case may be) The festival is really shaping up to be a great one for the record books, let’s hope that the weather holds out and we don’t lose another lake! Don’t forget June 12-14 at Henry Maier Festival Park, mark your calendar. For more info visit www.pridefest.com. The Pride Parade is also in full swing from what I hear with an announcement of their Grand Marshal, Michael Lisowski from the Queer Program. From what I have found out him from my various sources (I asked him) he is really deserving of it and I think the pride parade made a great choice. Lets hope the same thing for the parade, No Monsoons!! The parade is on Sunday June 14th at 2:00pm. Be there or be square. It is down a drag some many of us have walked (and seen too much drag along) south 2nd street from Greenfield Ave to Seeboth Ave. Stand in front of your favorite 2nd street bar and watch, enjoy, and drink. For more info visit www.prideparademke.org. Well I am all done for this month. I guess I’ll go see what the guy in the mailbag wants . . . or hasJ! Until next time have a great May and enjoy the great weather (hopefully) and show off your tattoos and piercings at Pride in June! If you have a question, or would like a topic covered, email Brent at avant-garde@voyager.net. ADULT DVD Review S c r e w e d , Jet Set Men L a t i n I n i t i a t i o n , Fierce Dog Chris Steele takes audiences on a journey into the sexual underbelly of our penal system in his latest Jet Set Men release, S c re w e d . Behind bars sex is evidently rampant, whether the sex taking place is between inmates, expected, or even sex between hot, horny guards. And finally there’s the most taboo of all jailhouse sex, that between innocent prisoners taken advantage of by sadistic guards. Okay, the guards here aren’t exactly sadistic but Mason Ross adamantly maintains his innocence. To get Mason to snitch, Rod Daily sends in for reinforcements. If muscular Kash Satal can’t get Mason to talk, its up to long, lean and criminally endowed T.C. to pound out a confession. As soon as Mason’s handcuffs are off, he’s on all fours, pants around his ankles and submitting to a thorough search of his anal cavity. There’s no victimizing here as Mason moans appreciatively as both T.C. and Kash send fingers deep into his bowels, ostensibly in search of contraband. The only thing to be found there, however, as T.C. quickly learns, is a good time as lickity split, Mason has leapt onto his ebony truncheon and begins riding T.C. as if he were a bucking bronco. While T.C. pummels his ass, Mason coaxes a load from Kash which sets off his own gusher. Since there’s no new prisoner to break in, brawny Lucas Knowles decides that its about time that he show the new guard, Austin Wrigley, the ropes. The slight newcomer doesn’t need much persuading before he’s on his knees salivating over Lucas’s throbbing erection. In walks Warden Cayden Banks who isn’t about to pass up an opportunity to help with the newbie’s lesson. Austin slobbers over both men but cocksucking honors in this scene goes to Lucas, who inhales his warden’s unsheathed weapon with gusto. Rank has its privileges as Cayden gets first crack at Austin’s bubble butt, but it is up to Lucas to finish the job, tossing off a big load. After Cayden further coats Austin’s chest, the still fired up Lucas blasts a second load for good measure. Sex is back where it belongs, behind bars, in the next scene which offers a couple of unexpected twists. Tattooed “preppie” David Taylor, in prison for “cock-fighting,” turns the tables on cellmate Vince Ferrelli, making the muscle stud into his personal bottom bitch. Tall and totally ripped, David is in total control, whether he’s noisily gulping Vince’s manmeat or force-feeding his own to Vince. Here’s a case of the bigger they are, the faster their legs go up in the air as David leisurely teases Vince’s squirming hole. Vince’s whimpering continues as David slides in easy as he pleases, soon buried balls deep. Demanding bottom that he is, Vince keeps begging for more before finally resorting to a dildo hidden under his pillow. Good sport that he is, David repeated plunges the rubber replica into Vince’s beefy mancheeks so Vince can at last whack off in earnest. Next we’re in the locker room where we find Shane Frost and Tyler Marks, two hot, horny guards, needing to work off some serious sexual tension before heading home to the wives. Even before the uniforms are off, the two are lip locked. As he strips, Shane reveals a nice, taunt torso and an impressive cock that Tyler can’t get enough of; dropping down to his knees again and again for a taste. Tyler is just as conscientious in working over Shane’s rosy pucker until, toes curling, Shane screams for more. There’s even more toe curling as Tyler takes the fun to the next level, pounding away at Shane’s trim bum mercilessly until he can’t hold back any longer, Shane’s erupting just seconds later. The power struggle between guard Rod Daily and Warden Cayden Banks reaches a climax in the final scene. Rod has had it in for the Warden right from the start and once he gets his hands on a video of Cayden’s earlier indiscretion with Lucas and newbie Austin (scene two), Rod knows he’s got the Warden right where he wants him: screwed. Cayden knows it too, “I’m screwed.” And he’s soon about to be. For starters, Rod orders Cayden on his knees, to suck his dick. After a moment’s hesitation, Cayden willingly submits to servicing Rod. Then on cue Cayden hops naked onto his own desk, spreads his checks and fingers his hole as Rod toys with his erection. But Rod is just giving the Warden what he wants as Cayden happily submits to a thorough pounding from Rod’s latex covered ramrod. S c re w e d is another solid release from Chris Steele and Jet Set Men. Steele stacks with a collection of hot studs ranging from a muscle mountain like Vince Ferrelli to lean, mean sex machines like T.C. and Shane Frost. Although lacking some of the intensity of other prison porn, S c r e w e d boasts rather more passion than one often expects from Jet Set plus a few nice, unexpected twists. Ratings: (* to *****) S c r e w e d ***1/2 L at i n I ni ti a t i o n : L at i n Int er v i ew B o ys 2 Fierce Dog ventured to Mexico City late last year in search of sexy young men and L a t i n I n i t i a t i o n : L a t i n I nt e r v i e w B o y s 2 is the satisfying result. The first scene introduces gorgeous Charly, a well-spoken young man whose compact torso, radiant smile and substantial cock are reminiscent of Bel Ami legend Lukas Ridgeston. Charly is paired with tall, dark and very well endowed Alfredo. Unlike most other twink casting tapes, these lads are clearly not strangers to mansex and the cocksucking here is particularly impressive. Later, adorable Israel is stood up for his scene but makes the best of it with a novelty dildo shaped like a dolphin. Israel clears loves performing on camera and as he plunges the blue dolphin again and again into his bowels, cums and with the dolphin still buried deep, cums again. The fifth scene brings back Israel plus three new faces: cover cutie Braulio, Félix and Toño. The filming of this foursome is choppy but the their youthful enthusiasm and energy can’t be beat. As a bonus scene, Braulio’s solo is a definite showstopper.
