The posh environs of Toronto’s Yonge and Summerhill area are
swankier with the addition of Kreiss, San Diego-based furniture
maker to stars like Patrick Dempsey and Julia Roberts. Located
in the old HorseFeathersHome digs, Kreiss carries timeless
upscale living, dining, bedroom and outdoor furniture. Another
fab American import: design director Shai DeLuca (top right),
an interior designer and Canadian expat recruited from NYC to
helm the 70-year-old company’s first foray into this country.

“We offer a full design service – and if you’re purchasing furniture worth $15,000 or more, the service is free,” says Shai. A tidy sum indeed, but if you love Kreiss’s aesthetic and are outfitting several
rooms, you won’t need to hire a designer. We could rack that up in a flash, with the klismos-style
Ares chairs in walnut and suede, $2,360 each, the Libra shellstone-and-iron coffee table, $3,295,
and the huge round Gatsby shagreen-frame mirror, $3,295.
