he Sullivan County Visitors Association
(SCVA) is working with the sugarhouses of the Neversink area to run a tour
and poker (sugar) run benefitting
Community Unity and the Sullivan
County Federation for the Homeless on
March 27 from noon to 5:30.
The Sugar Run will start at Porkupine
Lodge and continue in order with Muthig
Farm, Justus Asthalter Maple Syrup, Catskill
Mountain Sugar House, and end with Thunder
Hill Sugar Shack.
Entertainment will be by Stacy and Friends,
maple syrup products and other delicious
stuff will be for sale, and there’ll be food,
drink, prizes, raffles and lots of fun.
All monies raised will benefit efforts
to aid the needy in the area, including
children. Tickets are $20 for the run and
can be purchased ahead of time (advisable)
from Steve White at Federation for the
Homeless.

ne of the 20th century’s greatest photographers happened to call our area home.
And now, the late Pulitzer Prize-winner’s
images will, for the first time, be exhibited on
his home soil.
Eddie Adams, who lived in Jeffersonville
until his death in 2003, was widely known and

proud to present the first-ever museum exhibition of his work: “Eddie Adams: Vietnam.”
It includes 50 black-and-white images from
Vietnam, including his highly influential images
of the Vietnam boat people, which were presented to Congress and subsequently influenced the government's decision to admit
200,000 South Vietnamese refugees to the
United States.
A lecture and film series will explore the
themes present in the images, and it will all
start on Thursday, May 13, running through
Sunday, July 11.
