Winter 2014 Of Special Note… Last Concert at the Old Stone School this Season will be December 21! Beautiful vocal and instrumental harmonies have filled the McNair Auditorium this year with the classical concert series. The last concert of the series will be held Sunday, December 21. Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner catered by It’s a Peace of Cake and wine from Breaux Vineyards. The candlelight concert starts at 7 p.m. Concert tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students, and children 12 and under are free. The concert will feature a quartet of singers from George Washington University directed by Neil Weston. They will present a historical tour of Christmas music throughout the ages. The classical concert series, which benefits ongoing restoration efforts at the Old Stone School, is co-hosted by the non-profit Hillsboro Community Association and the Town of Hillsboro. These homes will be open for paid ticket holders from noon to 6 p.m. during the Christmas in Hillsboro Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, December 13. There was something for everyone at the first Hillsboro Heritage Day on October 18 at the Old Stone School. Visitors enjoyed meeting local artists, crafters, historians, authors, and farmers; listening to live music; watching a performance; hearing from long-time Hillsboro residents; playing games; eating and drinking local food, beer, wine, and cider; learning about the architecture and the trees of Hillsboro; and more. Cut, Gather, & Deliver Fresh Greens the First Week of December With four homes to fill with decorations, we’ll need a lot of greens. Please help us cut and gather by these greens: arborvitae, boxwood, euonymus, holly with and without berries, fir, juniper, magnolia, nandina, osage orange fruit, pine, pine cones, spruce, and yew.
