It was the first system in the world to be based on universal IR control. It duly won an American CES Award for innovation. Introduction During the 1990’s, Systemline became the multi-room system of choice for most specifiers in Europe looking to build their CI business, and it is fair to say that many of today’s top Custom Installers cut-their-teeth on Systemline product. Custom Installation Products In the early part of the new millennium, Systemline introduced “Modular” which redefined the level of flexibility and space efficiency possible within a multiroom system. Planning a Systemline Modular System Even a decade on, there is no other system on the market that has Modular’s level of flexibility, scalability and space efficiency. Zone amplifiers Today, this extends to IP control, thus facilitating iPad control and generally permits control from 3rd Party systems You will also notice that we are now dividing our products in to two clear categories, ‘installation’ & ‘Custom Installation’. This is a reflection of the changes that are happening in the marketplace – with E200 in particular, being a shining example of how Systemline is embracing change with yet more innovation. And it doesn’t stop there. Systemline will continue to innovate and develop solutions, which are appropriate to both the CI & i markets and look to provide the ‘wired-for-wireless infrastructure’ to deliver the level of choice appropriate for todays needs. Consequently, products in this category are only offered for sale to suitably qualified installers – please enquire if you wish to apply for specialist Systemline training. Not all installed products fall in to the Custom category. Some are very much plug n play products that can be professionally or personally installed. No specialist training, set-up or programing is required. We refer to this as our “i” category. M Series A stands for “AirWay” as these products are most likely to be used with one or other of the most popular digital network wireless receivers. These are capable of accessing your own music library, be it stored locally or in the cloud, or music-on-demand services from a number of providers. AirWay provides the wiring, amplification and speaker system backbone for delivery of a digital music service in to one or more rooms. Your customer may want to change their Network Wireless Receiver in the future, for a different or upgraded model, in which case, simply un-plug and swap out. M stands for Modular, which was updated in December 2012 to include the capability of IP control over an Ethernet network (Modular Advance). This means that iPad control is now supported along with using an iPad to operate IR controlled sources using Systemline’s embedded IR learning engine. There is also scope for third party control. The Systemline Modular range of multiroom products, remain unsurpassed in terms of its space efficiency, scalability, flexibility and ease of use. All of this using exclusively CAT-5/6 UTP wiring. S Series S is for “superior”, which the S6.2 Controller most certainly is. S6.2 utilises “home run” speaker and CAT5/6 UTP data cable wiring and supports 6 central sources + one zone specific local source in to up to 16 zones. SystemNet is built in to S6.2 and full use is made of its easy to set-up pre-configured, pre-tested interfaces with a wide range of popular 3rd party systems. Added in mid 2012, was an integral IP control gateway to further extend its capabilities including offering iPad control. 2 A Series E Series E is for Elegance, which E200 unquestionably is. It is purpose designed to bring the look, feel and performance of a CI product in to the kitchen, but in an affordable plug n play and simple to install form. The only surprising thing about this product is that it has not been done before. The kitchen is often described as the heart of the home and consequently deserves a sound system worthy of that accolade. No clutter, high performance and simple elegance. Every kitchen should have one. Also ideal for bedrooms including hotel bedrooms, for which there is a special version sales: sales@armourhome.co.uk / 01279 501111 • technical support: tech.support@armourhome.co.uk / 01483 545 611 or 01483 545 612 www.systemline.co.uk Applications for Systemline What really differentiates Systemline is the scope and scale of the system solutions that we are offering, from one zone all the way up to 16 zones. And the ease with which the advanced systems can be integrated with A/V, lighting, HVAC and automated systems. Shown below are just some examples of applications and how Systemline can service those applications. Single room Installed audio systems are commonly associated with multi-room deployment, but this is largely historic because, there was once a need for a central stack of equipment. Now, with so much content being delivered directly to a smart mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone, this is no longer mandatory. So a single room is therefore not only possible, but in many cases all that is required. Kitchen The kitchen is often more than just a single room, it’s the heart of the home, and with specific needs. Clutter is a big nuisance a kitchen, so an installed system makes a great deal of sense, especially one which avoids the trailing wires and poking up aerial of a kitchen radio, and can be simply wiped clean. E200 has been designed specifically with the kitchen in mind (its also great for bedrooms) and delivers the ease of use of a typical radio/iPod system with the look, feel and performance of a high-end installed sound system. New-build homes This is another area where there are specific requirements, and these include space efficiency, scalability, and quick and straightforward installations. Be it a one-zone starter system through to whole house automation. Under these sorts of constraints, Systemline Modular shines through as the system of choice, offering unrivalled flexibility and space efficiency and the need to run just one type of cable – CAT-5. Larger homes These would typically feature either Modular Advance or S6.2 and include integration with A/V, lighting, HVAC and automation. One of the biggest advantages of selecting Systemline, is that it offers the speed and reliability of using pre-configured and pre-tested interfaces with the associated products. And the control options are second to none from simple keypads and IR handsets to in-wall touch screens and iPad control. Hotel Rooms Another instance where there is a specific requirement that needs to be met, so-much-so, that we have created a special version of E200, the E200H to cater for this market. Commercial Good quality sound systems in locations such as restaurants, health clubs, hairdressers, or anywhere were music could augment a customer experience. Both E200 and Systemline Modular can be used for this application. Retail sales The ready availability of digital music services over the internet has created something of an end-user demand for installed systems which do not require anything in the way of customisation in terms of planning, termination, set-up, programing or extensive product knowledge etc. We have designated this category of products as “i”, being just install without the Custom element. sales: sales@armourhome.co.uk / 01279 501111 • technical support: tech.support@armourhome.co.uk / 01483 545 611 or 01483 545 612 3 www.systemline.co.uk Systemline M Series Systemline Modular is the worlds most space efficient and scalable multiroom system. It combines, balanced line audio, power, coms and IR, along a single CAT5/6 cable and offers a range of control options to suit most needs and budgets. Along with exclusively CAT-5/CAT-6 wiring, the other stand out feature of Systemline Modular is the extensive use of active ceiling speakers Systemline Modular has the scope to meet today’s needs from a straightforward wireless streaming solution, to a full-blown home automation system based around SystemNet and iPad control The most likely source for today’s music system is a wireless network receiver such as a Sonos™ or AirPlay™ device. And in this instance, Systemline Modular provides an ideal “wired backbone” for such a system. Content can either come directly from a smart mobile device, a computer, NAS drive or ‘cloud’ storage, or via a music-on-demand service such as Spotify™. The central Hub can be neatly housed in a Systemline HomeNet enclosure, which can also support other network services. Zone Wiring Examples Zone 1 The simplest i possible Modular zone. The active speaker has all of the electronics built-in to it to control and amplify one complete zone. Its feature set is unparalleled in the marketplace by incorporating system input, keypad connection, built-in (switchable) IR receiver, local input, local IR output, zone-out and switching for stereo/mono mode. Bass & treble and turn on volume can also be pre-set to optimise speaker performance for a given room environment. It is also possible to limit the maximum volume level, which could prove very useful when exercising control over a teenager, who might be tempted to up the volume level beyond reasonable limits. Very importantly, the ALM3’s have been designed to meet all of the ever more stringent building regulations, This includes Part L, which defines the requirement for an effective airtight design and Parts “B” “and E” which cover audio and fire dispersion requirements. Part B & E compliance is achieved by the use of a purpose designed fire rated acoustic hood. Energy conservation is also enhanced by the use of high efficiency Class D amplifiers, which have been carefully matched to the drive units to deliver first class Hi-Fi sound. All fixings are stainless steel, with gasket sealed fixing apertures. The ALM3’s are IPX5 rated against moisture ingress and low-pressure water jets. The example shown details a typical two bedroom apartment. TM DM Telephone services Lounge A telephone service typically enters a building by way of a master socket – BT refer to this as a NTE5. Should the NTE5 be situated some distance from the HomeNet enclosure, it will be necessary to run a CAT5e cable between the two locations. This maybe terminated directly to the NTE5. Alternatively, an RJ45 wall socket could be located next to the NTE5 master socket. One cable connection is required for each incoming line, and whilst this will often be adequate we would recommend running a minimum of two CAT5e cables. This will become even more important with the increasing number of wireless devices which when used in unison, can easily dramatically slow down wireless reception to the point of actual signal drop-outs. A hard wired solution will always be the best choice, and also form a better foundation to add wireless connectivity. Each Data Module is wired back to a central point using CAT5e cable where they can be connected either to a 4-port Telephone Host kit, or to a 4-port Data Module. The following SystemNet functionality page describes the variety of integration programs that are on offer, which include digital radio, lighting control, Sky set-top box control and numerous automation options. Unlike some control systems, SystemNet is very easy to set up using a simple computer program called “SystemNet Configurator”. This is very much a tickbox process, because all of the programs have already been pre-tested and keypads layouts already mapped and automatically assigned. This makes for quicker, easier and far more reliable deployment. When SystemNet is used with DemoPad or other 3rd party software this offers greater scope for customisation as well as supporting iDevice control. DemoPad is our supported 3rd party control and we supply ready formatted pages to match those of the native SystemNet devices. SystemNet is also now open to unsupported 3rd party control which would need to comply with our published protocol document. <httpxxxxxxxx> Sky Control Control a Sky set-top box including favorite pre-set channels by pressing the appropriate station icon. This in turn displays further information about the program currently showing on that channel. Normal browsing, navigation and alpha-numeric keypad is also supported, including TV guide and fast text colours. Home Page This screen shot depicts a typical selection of sources available in a given zone. This is automatically generated by the SystemNet Configurator program. The bottom right source – in this case a dedicated home theatre zone, is a local input and exclusive to this zone. Audio Server This screen shot depicts the “playing now screen”, with further navigation for track and album access including browse by User, artist, album, playlist or genre. Lighting Home Cinema Zone DAB Radio The Arcam T32 supports both FM and DAB and facilitates pre-set station selection and station browsing. 2-way lighting control of all of the supported systems apart from Clipsal, which is 1-way. A particularly nice feature is that the Systemline touch screen keypad automatically detects ambient light levels and this can be used to support quick auto-on by touching any part of the screen, in low-light conditions. A number of NAD receivers can be used with full 2-way control, which coupled with IR control of other sources within the zone provides full control of the cinema experience. iPad Control Temperature Control KNX is a widely supported “control protocol” supported by over 100 manufacturers worldwide, allowing simple and effective building control. The example shown depicts 2-way control of heating and outside temperature monitoring. 16 Automation The example shown depicts automatic control of curtains and blinds and gate access control. SystemNet is also the gateway for iPad control using a 3rd party application. We have partnered with DemoPad to create a ready to go template for iPad control – see page 20 for more details. Warning: Manufacturers change their products and specification without notice, so you are advised to check with Systemline as to the support of newly introduced or revised products before specifying for a new installation. Once each SIB or touch screen has been given its own zone address, you can use our published open protocol to switch on any of the 8 zones, select a source and control the volume. It is also possible to use our LRN7 learning handset to create an IR file for each zone, and when uploaded to the SIB or touch screen the IP controlling device can also send a command to generate any of these IR codes for the 6 main and 1 local source via the AM8 audio hub and local input module. S6.2 An IP to RS232 interface such as the Global Cache iTach IP2SL can be plugged into the S6.2 rear RS232 control socket which then allows an IP device complete two way control of all 8 zones. The Systemline template projects are available for authorised Systemline integrators and contain all the pages, user interfaces and commands to operate an 8 zone system. Other control products are available and can operate Systemline in the same way as DemoPad. All the open protocols are included with SystemNet 15.3.0 (or higher) software from the website. * A zone must have either of these devices to allow IP control of the zone. 20 sales: sales@armourhome.co.uk / 01279 501111 • technical support: tech.support@armourhome.co.uk / 01483 545 611 or 01483 545 612 www.systemline.co.uk Systemline S6.2 6 audio sources to up to 16 independent zones This is our flagship home run wiring system product. A CI Integrator will possess considerable product knowledge, planning skills, the know-how to use specialist tools and will have attended in-depth product and technology training. A CI Integrator will also be very proficient in the use of configuration software for a variety of brands and will often be a member of a specialist trade organisation such as CEDIA. The M Series and S Series products described in the previous section require such skills and are therefore only available to companies or organisations who possess those skills and additionally attend our specialist training courses. This section covers products that fall in to the Professional Install category. These products are generally plug-n-play and do not require any of the specialist skills, but rather Electrician level skills, or corresponding self-install skills. These products are not custom installation products, as there is little or no scope for customisation.
