In a one room shop under the oak trees of East Texas, Marvin
Priefert, a former Nebraska wheat farmer and inventor, built a
headgate for his neighbor. Little did he know that first piece of
ranch equipment would later become the foundation of one of
the largest and most respected ranch equipment manufacturing
companies in the world. Always a man who looked for a simple
solution to a complex problem, Marvin Priefert’s inventiveness
and his vision of a better way is still carried through the family
as it enters its third generation of ownership.
From the inventiveness of that Nebraska farmer’s creative
thinking has grown a company that not only leads the way in
the livestock handling business today but has, in many ways,
revolutionized the industry. Son Bill, and now grandsons Eddie,
Nate, and Travis carry on the tradition of finding a better way into
the everyday operations of Priefert Manufacturing. Motivated
by the pride of ownership and the challenge of “building a
better mousetrap”, the Priefert Family has built a business and
reputation based on the needs of the American farmer and
rancher. Building ranch equipment is not just our job; it’s our
lifestyle. It’s not what we do – it’s who we are. Hard work, good
people, a willingness to step “outside the box” and abundant
blessings from God have allowed our company to grow and
prosper from its humble beginnings.
A lot has changed since that first headgate was built in 1964, but
decades later one thing remains constant; Priefert’s commitment
to producing quality products. Located on the outskirts of Mt.
Pleasant, Texas, the Priefert’s Ranch is the first proving ground
for the vast majority of Priefert products. That’s why we say
“Built by Ranchers, for Ranchers”. Durability, versatility, and
functionality are combined with first-rate craftsmanship and
an eye for detail as products are made to fit the needs and
demands of a growing market. Cattle ranchers with herds from
10 to 10,000, horse owners seeking safety for their animals
and ease of operation, and people who simply embrace the
rural lifestyle and the western way of life have all helped build
this company.

This rugged, completely reversible crowding system can be used as a
portable or permanent working corral. Either way, it provides a durable
and affordable crowding system that requires less labor for working cattle.
Priefert’s innovative, user-friendly panel design allows you to build a
complete system or add what you need to an existing corral. Our chain
connection panels assemble easily and fit tighter than any pin connection
panels. The heavy gauge tubular steel construction allows these sweeps
to be portable and our architectural grade powder coat gives our panels
a durable finish. Available in 90°, 135° and 180° sweeps, these systems
and corrals are versatile enough for herds of any size.

Priefert’s Solid Sweep System has several unique, practical features not found in most other solid sweeps.
Pivoting our sweeping bow gate at the alley improved the flow of cattle by eliminating the corner
found with the standard 180 degree sweeps. By eliminating catwalks, we improved safety and
provided another cost saving benefit for operators. Built-in alley gates can serve as sorting gates
or a preg gate. Spring loaded, double piston latches in the sweep increases user safety. An
optional second bow gate offers the opportunity for loading directly from the sweep. All alley
and sweep panels are designed to provide easy access for “pour-on” application of insecticides.

As with Priefert’s Solid Sweeps, by pivoting our sweeping bow gate at the alley we
improved the flow of cattle. Eliminating the corner found with the standard design
of 180 degree sweeps is simply a practical design that provides benefits that reduce
stress on livestock and operators alike. The cost savings and reduction of labor in
assembly further increases the attractiveness of this design. A full array of optional
components offer cattle owners the opportunity to fit this system into existing corrals
or build a complete set of pens using either our Rough Stock Arena Panels or the
Rough Stock Panel itself.
