DINO MASTROYIANNIS, Concert Pianist www.dinomastroyiannis.com Dino Mastroyiannis, the eminent Greek concert pianist who described as "a musical ambassador of Greece abroad", has pursued a career of remarkable diversity. He has appeared in such prestigious concert halls as the Bridgewater Hall (Manchester, England), St. Petersburg Philharmonic (Russia), "Ateneul Român" (Bucharest), or “Rudolfinum” (Prague) to name a few. He has performed in many International Festivals and in historic places, like “Bertramka” (Mozart Museum in Prague) or the Ancient Theatre ("Odeon") of Herodes Atticus to the frames of the "Athens International Festival". He took his first piano lessons by Ely Adam (tracing back to Alfred Cortot). He is a graduate of the Conservatory of Athens, where he studied under Aliki Vatikioti (student of Friedrich Wuehrer), receiving the Soloist Diploma with the highest possible distinction and obtained the coveted First Prize. He continued his studies under the internationally acclaimed Bulgarian pedagogues Konstantin & Julia Ganevi, who were students of Heinrich Neuhaus. Further studies in both solo and chamber music performance in Austria, as well as at the Hanover Music Academy in Germany and the Sion Music Academy in Switzerland. Mr. Mastroyiannis completed his studies in piano performance as a private student of one of the greatest virtuosi of the past century, Brazilian pianist Roberto Szidon (student of Claudio Arrau and Artur Rubinstein). Roberto Szidon described Mr. Mastroyiannis as "one of the eminent Greek pianists" and Paul Badura-Skoda wrote that "his technical and musical abilities are up to an international level". Regarded for his “rich and multisided technique”, “artistic temperament”, “perfect feeling of the rhythm” and “rare expressiveness” Dino Mastroyiannis is also one of the greatest performers of Greek music. The most important point until now in his career is his special collaboration and friendship with the legendary living Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. Among many other works for Piano and Orchestra he performed under tremendous success the world-première of Theodorakis’ 44-year lost Piano Concerto "Helikon” in Finland on 2005, and repeated the same work as a soloist with different orchestras in several countries. Mikis Theodorakis wrote about him: “I would like to congratulate you for the magnificent interpretation of my lost Piano Concerto Helikon... I believe that your apprehension of my works totally corresponds with their deeper character, their virtuosity and their mental demands and reflects their quintessence…” Recently, the Italian newspaper “Libertà” praised him with the enthusiastic review "discovering the most secret Mozart". Dino Mastroyiannis was the only person from Greece to whom the International Organization "Mozart 2006" (Austria) gave its written permission to use their official logo for a very special and rare series of concerts, the "Anthology of music for Piano 4 hands". Dino has recorded many times for different radio and TV stations all over Europe. He has also recorded in CD the 4th Piano Concerto with the Catanzaro Symphony Orchestra. His next CD is going to be released soon.
