Guten Tag:
This year's German Fest and Oktoberfest Organizational
Committee meeting was well attended by our members. At the
meeting, we discussed various ways to reduce or contain costs
while we improve our events. With three qualified vendors on
hand, each was asked to submit a written estimate indicating their
cost to cook at each festival. Changing from a "per hour" rate, to a
per event "flat" cost, coupled with having competitive bidding has
proved worthwhile. Comparing last year's kitchen costs with the
lowest bid we received for this year's German Fest and
Oktoberfest, our club is projected to save a considerable amount of
money. It also decided that German Fest Sunday will again be
declared "Emergency Service Providers Recognition Day." All
police officers, firefighters and emergency medical service
providers will be admitted to the fest free of charge on July 20th.
Stay tuned for the date of our next meeting. All welcome to
attend.
Our St. Patrick's Day membership meeting was
outstanding. Chef Steve Brunner and his assistants cooked and
served a delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner. Youthful
dancers from the Kelly-Oster School of Irish Dance entertained by
dancing traditional Irish dances. The highlight of March's meeting
was presenting 34 year member Erica Michaels with a plaque
recognizing her as our newest "Honorary Member."
Congratulations and thank you again Erica for decades of
dedicated service to our club.
Elvis is coming to the GASC in July! We will be hosting Pat
Castaldo and "All the King's Men," a rock and roll band that sings
songs as a tribute to Elvis Presley under the large tent on
Saturday, July 26th from 7PM to 10PM. Admission is only $10 per
person. Food and refreshments will be available to purchase. Tell
your friends about this entertaining musical event.
Don't forget our annual Tag Sale - April 5th 9AM-3PM and
our Spring clean up on April 26th. Help is needed for both of these
functions.
