There are a number of programs holding their auditions at Cincinnati Ballet. Check out the “Summer Intensive Audition” Wall and Binder! In the back hallway next to the bulletin board, we have some Summer Intensive brochures hanging up! Additional Summer Intensive brochures may be found in a binder on the table in the hallway. Students are welcome to use this resource to research program options. Check back frequently as more are added each day. No auditions scheduled for this week. Looking ahead... Audition 9 10 11 12 Please refer to the Academy handbook for a complete calendar Class Updates, Changes, Reminders: Due to many of our Academy students participating in Cincinnati Ballet’s Cinderella theater rehearsals and upcoming performances this week, we are needing to adjust a number of classes - please read the below carefully! Level 1 Boys class: This Thursday February 11, Level 1 Boys class (6:30-7pm) will be canceled due to some students and Mr. Chris Lingner’s involvement in the Cinderella dress rehearsal that evening. Level 2 & Level 2 Pre Pointe (Saturday): This Saturday February 13, Level 2 (11:15 AM) and Level 2 Pre Pointe (12:45 PM) will be taught by Ms. Patty Pille (subbing for Ms. Elefson) Level 3 (Wednesday 6:15 PM): This Wednesday February 10th, the Level 3 6:15 PM class will be taught by Ms. Patty Pille for an abbreviated class time 6:15-7:45 PM due to many of the students and Ms. Sarah Hairston participating in the Cinderella rehearsal that evening. Level 3 (Saturday 9:00 AM): This Saturday February 13, Level 3 will be taught by Ms. Patty Pille (subbing for Ms. Elefson) Level 5: - Thursday February 11, Level 5 will be combined with Level 6 & 7 for class 5:30—8:00 PM. *Please note class time change* Level 6 & Level 7: - Wednesday February 10, Level 6 & 7 will be combined for class 6:15-8:15 PM. - Thursday February 11, Level 6/7 will be combined with Level 5 for class from 5:30-7:15 PM and then proceed to their rotating class 7:15-8:45 PM with Ms. Patty Pille (subbing for Mr. Jake Casey) - Saturday February 13, Level 6 & 7 will be combined for class from 2:15-4:15 PM with Ms. Dawn Kelly. With school out of session, summer offers the time and freedom to fuel your passion and take your dancing to the next level. From Kids Dance Camp to Summer Intensive, Cincinnati Ballet Academy hosts a variety of summer programs fit for all levels of training. Below, please see the dates for some of our summer program offerings for 2016. Additional programs will be announced at a later date. Registration for Kids Dance Camp and Youth Summer Intensive will not open for another few weeks. We will notify Academy families when registration materials become available. Pre Pointe Workshop Essential foundations for success on pointe. Designed for dancers ages 10-14 who have recently advanced to pointe work. June 6 - 10, Enchanted Kingdom July 18 - 22, At the Aquarium July 25 - 29, Under the Big Top August 1 - 5, Treasures of Toyland Monday - Friday, 2:00-4:30 PM June 6 - 10 Placement in the Pre Pointe Workshop is based on teacher evaluation and relevant classical ballet coursework, along with a current evaluation from a dance medicine professional and qualified instructor for pointe readiness. Youth Summer Intensive One, two, or three weeks available. July 18 - 22 July 25 - 29 August 1 - 5 Proficiency and progress for the aspiring pre-professional student! Three unique divisions provide individual attention and custom instruction for reaching the next level of technical and artistic ability. Division I Division II Division III Formerly known as Summer Dance Experience Formerly known as Summer Dance Workshop Formerly known as Junior Summer Intensive Monday—Friday, 1:00-5:30 PM Monday—Friday, 1:00-5:30 PM Monday—Friday, 2:00-5:30 PM *Note: In the coming weeks, current Academy students in Main Division Levels 1—3 will receive a letter stating their placement in the appropriate division of Youth Summer Intensive. Weekly Newsletter Page 4 Summer Programs 2016 continued... Summer Intensive A nationally recognized program offering intensive dance training to students ages 12 and up. Acceptance is by audition only. Two, three, four, and five week sessions available. June 13 - July 15 *Note: Academy students in Level 4 or below that are 12 years old and up, must attend one of the auditions (January 16 or February 21) to be considered for acceptance into the Summer Intensive program. The audition fee is waived for current Academy students. Fuzi Shoe Fitting with Xijun Fu A former Cincinnati Ballet company member and the creator and owner of FUZI, Mr. Xijun Fu, will be visiting Cincinnati Ballet on Wednesday February 17th to offer free individual pointe and ballet flat shoe fittings. Mr. Fu is offering these fittings to Cincinnati Ballet company dancers and any interested Academy students. This is not a requirement for any student, but an opportunity for those who may be interested. Please note, pointe shoe fittings are only for students currently dancing on pointe. Promotion sale prices are only $50 for pointe shoes and $20 for ballet flat shoes. Take advantage of this special opportunity and discounted prices! Now is the time to start planning summer fun! Representatives from over 50 residential camps, local day camps and summer programs (including Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy), for ages 4 – 18 will be on hand to speak with families about what they have to offer, spanning the spectrum from arts to sports to outdoor activities. If you attend, be sure to stop by the Cincinnati Ballet Academy booth to hear more about our summer programs! Our Academy Assistant, Kara Louis will be there!
