Untitled - Teabag Online
The hot news for magazine 39 is that this will be the last time that I place a
part of the teabags catalogue in the magazines. We can use the big catalog
(much better than the catalogue from the magazines) from Colnect. We
(Carine de Pauw and I are also busy with starting the tea label catalogue on
Colnect which we hope that it will be visual very soon. So if you will help to up
-grade this catalogue till the biggest catalogue from tea labels please send
scans to my e-mail address ( info@teabagonline.nl ) from front and back site.
A very bad news is that the International teabag meeting in Denmark is canceled. There were to less people which told to Mitz that they were interested
to come to that meeting. Hope that we can realize one time this meeting again in Denmark.
In this magazine you can read a very nice article from Jiri Ullrich about teabags which we cannot buy
in any supermarket. There is also to read about blooming tea, company info, new teabags, new tea
tags and much more. Hope you like this magazine and wish you a lot of fun with reading this magazine

Flowering tea or blooming tea consist each of a bundle of dried tea leaves wrapped around one or
more dried flowers. The history of flowering teas is not clear. One source says it's a modern creation
that's about two decades or so old. Another source explains that one particular concept of bundled
tea leaves is at least 200 years old, and these newer bundles are recent inventions.
Typically, the tea and flowers are sourced from the Yunnan province of China. Yunnan is rich in natural resources and has the largest diversity of plant life in China. Of
the approximately 30.000 species of plants in China, Yunnan has perhaps 17,000 or
more. Yunnan is the birthplace of tea. Ancient tea
trees can be found in Yunnan of which tea leaves are still being processed. Tea is becoming an important export product for the Yunnan region. With respect to Blooming Tea, the skills of forming the
flower into a dried bundle is reserved to only a small number of
master binders. This results in blooms that are somewhat unique in
their appearance for each craftsman. Flowers commonly used in
flowering teas include globe amaranth, chrysanthemum, jasmine,
lily, hibiscus, and osmanthus. The most popular Blooming Teas consist of green or white tea, but black tea is also available and is getting increasingly popular when making Blooming Tea. Green tea, however, is recognized as the tea
with the richest and most natural taste, thus it is widely used in the production of Blooming Tea.
Blooming Tea is generally served in glassware, or other transparent material, so that the flowering
effect can be seen. The bundles can usually be reused two or three times without the tea becoming
bitter. It also is possible to create delicate little scenes with tea, if the tea is handled by someone
who is skilled with Blooming Teas. For example, the tea might unfurl to reveal a sailing ship or another decorative object.
5 Steps to prepare a perfect cup of Blooming Tea
1. First you need a heat-resistant glass teapot.
2. Tear open the individually packaged bundle of Blooming Tea.
3. Add 350-450 ml boiling water (at least 90°C) into the teapot and immediately add the bundle.
4. Within the next 5-8 minutes (depending on the type of blooming tea) the bundle transforms and
emulates a beautiful flower. As soon as the flower has bloomed the tea aroma has fully unfolded.
5. It is possible to refill the tea pot containing the same bundle of Blooming Tea up to three times.
Further info:
x Each bundle is hand-made, each bloom is unique in its presentation.
x Store Blooming Tea in dry and cool places, also keep away from any source of heat or humidity.
Hot tip:
Why don't you use Blooming Tea as floral art after enjoying the tea?
Just add the bloomed bundle into a glass or pot filled with cold water.
Just remember to change the water regularly to keep it clean. This way,
you can enjoy Blooming Tea as a decorative art in your living room.

Sabah Tea
Sabah Tea Plantation, nestled into the lush
tropical wilderness of Malaysia’s first ever
World Heritage Site, Mount Kinabalu, sits on a
6,200-acre land at 2,272 feet above sea level.
It is surrounded by the world’s oldest rainforest
of about 130 million years. Sabah Tea Plantation is the largest single commercial tea plantation in Borneo with approximated area of
1,000 acres endowed with an interesting plant
and agriculture resources, Camellia Sinensis. It
is also one of the very few tea plantations in
the world that certified to produce organic tea.
In the year 1976, the state government of Sabah had decided to alienate a total of 6,200
acres of land in Kampung Nalapak to Koperasi
Desa (KPD). Sabah Tea Sdn Bhd was then incorporated on April 26, 1978 as a subsidiary of KPD
to operate and manage the tea plantation. The
Honorable Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad official opened the Sabah Tea
Plantation on February 19, 1984. In the year
1987, the management of Sabah Tea had decided to form a joint-venture with Tate & Lyle
(29%), Commonwealth Development Corporation (20%) with the remaining 51% shares held
by KPD. The reason as why the management
decided to approach this strategy was to
lighten the burden on the government and to
gain intellectual property of Tate & Lyle’s tea
expertise. However, in 1995, the government
had decided to privatize Sabah Tea Sdn Bhd as
they believe that by doing so, Sabah Tea would
be able to reach greater heights and make the
country proud. An Ipoh based company, Yee
Lee Corporation Bhd, acquired the entire
Sabah Tea Sdn Bhd and Desa Tea Sdn Bhd in 1997.
Yee Lee Corporation was incorporated in 1973 and
was listed on the Main Board of The Kuala Lumpur
Stock Exchange in 1993. They are well-diversified
company with active subsidiaries covering manufacturing, distributing and selling a wide array of
products both locally and internationally. At SABAH
TEA's tea plantation, we are careful with our harvest. Nature has graced us with her best. Located
at 2,272 feet above sea level, the harvest here are
100% pesticide free as insects are drawn more towards the 130 million year old
rainforest surrounding the plantation, leaving the harvest for SABAH TEA untouched and pure.
Unlike most brands of tea, SABAH
TEA consists of only tea leaves
picked from its own 2,480 hectare
plantation. It is the only way to
protect its quality of origin and to
ensure the leaves are free from unknown substances or chemicals. Every tea
grower knows that the best time to
harvest is in Spring or early Winter.
Summer's pick is usually lesser in
terms of quality. The advantage of
its location in the cool foothills of
Mount Kinabalu makes every harvest at SABAH TEA plantation a
Spring-like harvest. A tea plantation of SABAH TEA's scale not only
ensures consistent quality but selective and exclusive tea cultivation. The tea is naturally rich in flavour without any added colouring. You
can see the amazing glow of golden richness around the surface of every cup of
SABAH TEA. That's supreme quality you
can actually see!
