From small beginnings in North West Wales it was no surprise that our inaugural tour was to the mountainous landscape of Switzerland in 1974 and such was the interest we had to run two parallel tours to cater for the 70 plus travellers who joined us. As a sister company to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways we remain loyal to our railway roots, creating holidays that revolve around the world’s historic and scenic railways. While our repertoire has increased we remain a small specialist rail tour operator that allows us to be flexible when designing escorted tours to meet the needs of our growing, faithful following of train travellers, who want the holiday to be as much about the rail journey as the destinations we visit. We are delighted with our 2014 ‘Ruby Year’ tour programme that includes our celebratory ‘Around the World Tour’.This preview gives you a comprehensive idea of what we are planning, including our ‘specialist’ annual visits to India, the Harz Mountains and of course Switzerland, but there are several new tours for you to consider that explore the Rhine region, Salzburg and the more exotic destinations of Eritrea and Vietnam. Be a part of our special 40th year and join us on one of our escorted rail tours, the choice is varied and the content is rich. Bookings are now being taken and if you require any further information on tours mentioned in this preview please don’t hesitate to contact us.” Maria Cook, General Manager to Toronto – a 3-night journey travelling through the Prairies, Saskatoon and onwards to Winnipeg before reaching Sioux Country located in the Northern Ontario Forest and finally Toronto for 2-nights at the Fairmont Royal York hotel and the base from which we visit Niagara Falls. A full-day’s journey on the Maple Leaf train service takes us to our final destination, New York, and a 2-night stay at the Eventi Hotel. There will be a free day to explore the wonders of New York and a “Farewell” dinner at the Gramercy Tavern before flying home, arriving back in the UK on Day 40!
