This branch has hosted several teams of researchers from different universities who wanted to carry out their research projects.” Head of labs of Urmia branch concluded by mentioning SAHA program, adding: “Full information of all the laboratorial equipment, workshop capabilities, and personnel has been registered on SAHA system. Those who are willing to cooperate with us could go on this system and review the required information.” UK Banks to Study Iran Sanctions Impacts T country’s biggest banks plan to study the he British media said on Thursday that the eputy of medical sciences of the Islamic Azad University visited pharmaceutics faculty of Arak branch and its laboratories, also discussed current issued of this faculty in a meeting with the director and authorities of the said branch. In this meeting, Dr. Ali Abtahi said: “In the past two years, Islamic Azad University has undergone significant development in a number of the counties and Arak branch is one of them. The visit of the pharmaceutics faculty and Razi laboratories shows that even though IAU earns its credits through the student tuitions, this university has made great progress in comparison to its early days. The most eye-catching part of this progress has been done in the past two years.” Dr. Abtahi claimed that Arak branch of the Islamic Azad University has great potential and capacities, continuing: “This branch has numerous courses of science and medical programs, and this vast expertise makes it the best option for offering new, interdisciplinary courses. Dr. Mirzadeh, chairman of the uni- D versity, has high expectations from a number of branches; one of them is Arak branch. We hope to receive more help in realizing the potentials of this branch in the near future.” Eyeing Higher Ranks Dr. Abtahai remarked that the medical sciences have shown slow progress in Arak and its neighboring provinces. He went on: “In this area, there is great need for medical programs. Great facilities of this branch and high motivation of the staff and professors of Arak branch is a rare example in this area and local centers of higher education. The efforts shown by Dr. Nezam-abadi, director of Arak branch, have been influential in this regard.” Dr. Nezam-abadi, director of Arak branch, mentioned that most of the students in the area are enrolled in this branch of the Islamic Azad University, stating: “There are more than 106,000 students active in this province, more than 50% of whom enrolled in the Islamic Azad University. Also, 58% of the graduate students in this province are also implications involved in the removal of sanctions against Iran. The British Bankers’ Association (BBA) has accordingly agreed to form a working group to examine the issue. The initiative was adopted at a BBA board meeting last week and it follows concerns by investors toward US punitive measures against investments in the country. It also follows pressures from the government on the banks to expand links with Tehran ahead of a trade visit to Iran led by Sajid Javid, the Business Secretary, which is due to take place next month. But Sky News has emphasized in its report that many BBA members, which include UK-headquartered and international banks with operations in Britain, have expressed unease about forging closer ties with Iran. pursuing their studies in Arak branch.” Nezam-abadi added: “According to the latest reports of Scimago data bank, Arak branch of the Islamic Azad University has earned the 57th rank among 100 universities and institutions of the country in regard to research and science production; also 8th position among all the branches of Islamic Azad University. In the past year, we have improved this rank and have improved our standing to stand on 6th place. We are planning to continue our development and achieve a standing among the top three IAU branches.” He further added: “Arak branch of the Islamic Azad University is the most credible university in the area and the largest university branch in regard to educational space, students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, SAMA schools, faculty members, and the staff. Belyaninov suggested that this will be part of a new arrangement between Iran and Russia that would in a later stage entail the opening of a green corridor between the two countries. “We’ll go there [to Iran] in May to sign a green corridor deal,” ITAR-TASS news agency quoted the official as saying. Iran's News 4 Research Centers to be Established in Bushehr Branch Early Diagnosis of Leukemia through Gold Nano-particles SPECIAL R EPORTS Inside IAU Sanandaj Branch: Recruiting 70 Iraqi Students D of the Islamic Azad Uni- irector of Bushehr branch versity says: “Four new research centers of polymer and petrochemistry, oil and gas, maritime sciences and tropic water species are going to be established in this branch. Two centers of maritime sciences and oil and gas would be located in Kharg branch and the center for tropic water species would be in Delvar branch; the location of the polymer research center has still to be decided, but it would be constructed in the current year.” Secretariat to IAU’s board of trustees in Bushehr, mentioning the decree of the chairman of the university regarding the greenhouse cultivation and turning it into an income source, stated: “Greenhouse cultivation in an area of 50 hectares in Khormoj branch, developed with the cooperation of Bushehr branch, and the greenhouse of Bushehr branch are both examples of the activities followed in line with this decree.” Referring to tourism as a possible activity due to the local capacities, Dr. Qeisari went on: “Alishahr dormitory, belonging to Bushehr branch, with a base of over 7,000 sq/ ms, has the capacity to host 2,500 guests; adding the other dormitory of the university to this, Bushehr branch could host 3,500 people. This opportunity could be turned into a new source of income for the university.” Mentioning other development projects, Dr. Qeisari added: “The educational complex of Deir center is under construction and would be ready for use in the early part of the next year.” R University of Technology esearchers of the Isfahan have succeeded in producing a sensor out of gold nano-particles which is applicable in early diagnosis of leukemia. Professor Ali-Asghar Ensafi referred to the advantages of the electrochemical diagnosis methods and the purpose of this project, saying: “Due to high selectivity, sensitivity and affordability, the electrochemical methods have gain significant importance in this field. The purpose of this project is to produce and introduce a bio-sensor for making a distinction between two types of cancer cells. This sensor operates based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, which in addition to high speed and sensitivity, is cost effective.” In this project, the surface of the sensor has been modified through gold nano-particles. Also, part of the ZAP70 gene has been fixed unto its surface. The complementary gene of the said one could be used in both states of mutated or otherwise. Considering the mutation of the complementary gene, the main gene would react differently; this very variation is the basis of the quantitative and qualitative analysis.Ensafi noted the production stages of this sensor and went on: “First, the gold nano-particles are set on the surface of the electrode of gold. Then, the DNA probe is also put on the electrode. After that, the infrastructural examinations are conducted on the surface, which indicate the fixation of the gold nano-particles on the electrode’s surface.” IAU’S FUTSAL TEAM RETURNS FROM KAZAKHSTAN FUTSAL TEAM OF THE ISLAMIC AZAD UNIVERSITY, REPRESENTATIVE OF IRAN’S FEDERATION OF GENERAL SPORTS IN THE ٢ND ROUND OF ASIA’S STUDENT COMPETITIONS, WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF THESE GAMES AND RETURNED TO THE COUNTRY.
