Publication of the August edition of Tile Today and
organization of the recent Full Frontal Tile & Stone
Exhibition reduced the amount of time available
for production of this issue of Discovering Stone,
however I am confident that lovers of stone will
find much to enjoy in these pages. In this edition
we focus on some of the great Australian products
which we have at our disposal.
Another new feature ‘Living With Stone’ focuses
on how and where stone is used in residential
environments. In this edition we focus on stone
in the kitchen, in particular kitchen benchtops.
Readers engaged in benchtop fabrication and
installation can view a two page mini-guide to
this art which commences on page 34. The full 26
page guide, which contains 16 pages of detailed
drawings can be purchased from the Australian
Stone Advisory Association.
We include the latest blockbuster from the pen
of the mysterious Dr. Dripstone “Attack of the
Stylolites”.
We also focus on the recent Full Frontal Tile &
Stone Exhibition.
on the cover
Bluestone features prominently
in this edition of Discovering
Stone and there is no doubt
that inspired use of Kanmantoo
Bluestone in the construction of
the superb new home captured
on our cover was a masterstroke.
This robust native stone has a
multitude of applications. Builder
David Cheney commented, “The
stone connects directly with its
surrounds. Its colours are the
colours of the earth and the trees
which cover the landscape”.

In this edition Nicholas Bennett examines the
re-birth of Olde English Tiles Australia and the
further development of Belmondo Stone & Tile
Gallery. Our cover features a classic French style
bathroom called ‘Salle de Bain-Bell Epoque’,
which are displayed at Belmondo Stone & Tile
Gallery in Willoughby, New South Wales. Both
businesses were created by Nino Gaudioso.
Most of the 64th edition of Tile Today was
completed prior to the commencement of the Full
Frontal Tile & Stone Expo (FFTSE), which was held
at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, 2022 August. A full review commences on page 8.
Readers should note that we have radically
revised our Advertiser’s Index to provide more

challenge facing industry lies in convincing
