Log Cabins Case study
ACTIS MEETS CHALLENGING INSULATION NEEDS OF PANEUROPEAN PRODUCER OF HAND CRAFTED LOG BUILDINGS.
Multifoil manufacturer ACTIS will now be used to provide insulation products to Alliance
Log Homes, the pan-European producer of hand crafted log buildings.
As part of an initial trial, ACTIS’ Triso-Super 10 thin multifoil insulation was installed in one of
Alliance’s standard model 12.5m x 6.5m log cabins, which is to be used as a visitor centre at
Caddicks Clematis Nursery in Lymm, Cheshire. Following the trial, Alliance has confirmed that
it intends to use the product in all future mobile and residential building, where suitable.
Alliance cabins make built-to-order flat pack log cabins that are manufactured at its factory in
Belarus before being dismantled and delivered to the UK and other European destinations for
re-assembly. The cabins are used as residential houses, studios, playrooms, workrooms, timber
lodges or mobile log homes.
Steve Horton, ACTIS’ Area Sales Manager says: “Alliance Log Cabins can be exposed to a
diverse range of weather conditions depending on where they are re-assembled, so ensuring
the right type of insulation is used in the cabins is imperative. ACTIS’ Triso-Super 10, which at
only 30mm thick, provides the same insulation benefits as mineral wool products up to 210mm
thick (as tested by BM Trada)*, provides Alliance with a thin, lightweight and easy to install
alternative to mineral wool products.”

Peter Farrow, Alliance Log Homes Operations Director UK, says: “All of our log buildings are
manufactured using special techniques to allow for natural shrinkage and movement during the
drying period, which can take up to 5 years. Due to its thin and flexible nature, ACTIS insulation
will allow the building to move in this way, without the restrictions of solid foam products that are
rigid and can interfere with the building’s natural movement.”
Installing ACTIS insulation in the log cabins has meant that Alliance was able to save time and
money during the installation process, while maintaining the highest possible insulation values.
