Do you believe in the power of dreams? Here at
Honda we do. In fact, we believe dreams are the
most powerful energy in the world, because
they’ve been the driving force behind all we’ve
achieved so far. In our experience, everything
wonderful starts with a dream.
That’s why we feel it’s so important for us to
help provide means and opportunities for others
to realise their dreams, and it’s the main reason
for the Honda Dreams Fund scholarship.
By focusing on the underprivileged instead
of just the cream of the crop – and by allowing
scholarship recipients to select any course
they desire, instead of restricting them to
certain fields like engineering and medicine –
the Honda Dreams Fund is uniquely placed
to bring a positive change right to the very heart
of Malaysian society.

catered to be more inclusive of all Malaysia’s
demographic groups – in particular the orang
asli, a community that doesn’t get enough
exposure to the more traditional forms of
educational scholarship.
The fund is just one of the ways Honda has
chosen to build on our reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. And another way we’ve
chosen is literally in the pages you’re holding
right now.
We’re proud to announce that this is the
first With DREAMS magazine to be produced
using recycled paper. It’s a big step, but one
that we feel is very necessary if we’re to
show how serious we are about preserving
the environment.
Printed on these recycled pages are many
other examples of our philosophy, belief and
vision. In the end, our dream is that people will
look at Honda, and see a company they feel is
worth having around.

Contrary to popular misconception, most orang asli youths speak proficient English.
Dreams have no barriers. Poets and
philosophers have said before that in
order to realise a dream, one would have
to manifest it long and hard enough to
achieve it.
However, for many orang asli, even
the simple act of having a dream can be
a daunting task. A lack of self-confidence
– coupled with a limited and often
negative exposure to life outside their
kampung – has made some shun any
kind of development, even development
of the self.
And while some do dream of one day
being rich and successful, of owning a
car, of living an affluent lifestyle, there
are others whose aspirations are more
immediate, more practical in nature. They
dream of an education.
Like the straight-A student who
The visit to Sabah attracted more than 130 youths, parents, school teachers and village officials.

The orang asli may come from small villages but they all have big dreams of a brighter future.
wants to pursue a course in nursing
because she likes to help people in
need. Or the teenager who wants to
become a social worker so he can help
people help themselves.
A similar story is the emotional tale
of Soichiro Honda, the man behind one
of the most successful car companies in
the world. The child of a poor Japanese
family, Mr. Honda imagined himself
producing motorcycles and automobiles
the entire world would want to own. And
with lots of determination and plenty
of hard work, he saw his dream become
a reality.
With this in mind, and to give to the
needy, Honda Malaysia initiated the
Honda Dreams Fund last year to find
and support budding talent by providing
an educational scholarship to deserving
ones who have a story to tell and a
dream to share.
And so together with the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP),
Honda has extended this year’s programme to include Malaysia’s orang asli
fortunate enough to be inducted into the
programme to come from the indigenous community.
In an exercise to reach out to the
orang asli, Honda and the UNDP recently
visited several asli villages in the interior
of Sabah and Sarawak.
And for those of us here at Honda
Malaysia fortunate enough to be part
of this event, it was also a jour ney
of discovery.
It’s hard not to have some preconceived ideas, heading off the paved
roads of recent progress and out into
the primeval hinterlands inhabited for
countless generations by Malaysia’ s
original peoples.
We expected evident poverty and a
hardscrabble existence. We expected
grinding underdevelopment. We expected different customs, beliefs and social
norms. In short, we expected to find The
Other. Yet in these distinct and diverse
communities – and in the faces of the
wonderful young people we met – what
we actually found was a part of ourselves.
It’s what we at Honda call the Challenging Spirit. And it was everywhere
we went.
In Sabah there are an estimated 39
different indigenous communities, making up about 51 per cent of the state’s
2.5 million population, comprised of the
Borneon and non-Borneon Groups.
And one thing was clearly evident
with the orang asli, and in particular
those from Sabah: the dream each had
was invariably something that could help
the greater community, like becoming a
teacher, mechanic or social worker. This
unanimous sense of collective responsibility and concern for society was quite a
refreshing contrast to the crass individualism one sees far too often in more
urbanized youth.
Sabah has a diversified culture with
communities from Kota Kinabalau,
Kudat, Penampang, Tuaran, Kota Belud,
Tenom, Papar, Tamaparuli, Labok, Ranau,
Tambunan and Sukau (Sandakan). These
areas are identified as being very poor in
the state’s poverty index.
More than 130 youths, parents, school teachers and officials from villages
representing more than 14 districts in the
state attended the talk in Penampang,
with some 70 students attending the talk
in Tambunan. About 85 people from a
total of seven different villages attended
the session in Sukau, which is along the
Kinabatangan River.
Sukau, roughly 150km from Sandakan, is an area accessible only by river
or a partially-tarred access road. The bulk
of the population is orang sungai living
below Sabah’s poverty line, with each
household earning about RM700 per month. The majority of teenagers in Sukau,
upon completing their Sijil Pelajaran
Malaysia (SPM) or Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran
Malaysia (STPM) examinations, find employment at one of the many homestays
– part of this beautiful area’s fledgling
tourism industry.
The Sekolah Menengah Sukau
Headmaster Mohd. Noor said although
some have gone on to greener pastures,
the bulk of school-leavers end up doing
menial jobs around their home village.
“These people are usually from the
more well-to-do families who would
support them financially to pursue their
studies either in Kota Kinabalu or Kuala
Lumpur, but this group isn’ t the worry. It
is those who don’ t get the opportunity –
that is the issue. And they are not exposed to the outside world,” Noor said.
Sukau Village Head Shaharon Ahmad
welcomed the move by Honda Malaysia.
“The only way teenagers find something useful to do around here is by
assisting a group of researchers who
usually come here to study the ecology,” Shaharon said, adding that most
others waste their true potential in the
home-stays.
Among the youths interviewed, there
were many who want to become nurses,
mechanics, teachers and even community workers, all with the hope of returning to their villages to improve the lives
of people in their community.
This time around, Honda Malaysia
and UNDP officials brought along a video
camera to record the young people as
they spoke about their dreams. Despite

their condition of poverty, the youth readily put forward warm and honest smiles.
Some of the people living in more
remote asli villages lack even such basic
necessities as proper access to books,

Honda Malaysia Managing Director
and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Atsushi
Fujimoto said that the move to target the
orang asli has proven worthwhile as he
found, during his visits together with the
Honda Dreams Fund and UNDP officials,
that most of the students may be poor
but have good attitudes – a characteristic
that was also strong in Soichiro Honda.
Mr. Fujimoto said that he too had
a dream when he was a student, and
that Mr. Honda had been inspirational in
actually achieving that goal.

Japan. Upon graduating, it wasn’ t going
to be a surprise that I chose a global
company such as Honda to start my
career. Although initially I was in the
domestic sales department, I subsequently steered to international sales,
which I believe is the way that I realised
my dream,” he said.

asked why he chose that line, he said the

have properly tarred roads and vehicles

down. Due to this problem, many people

to become a teacher so she can return to
her birthplace of Tambunan and help
educate the poorer students there.
“Most of the teachers here aren’ t
actually from around here. They are
usually from other areas, and so they
don’ t know this area and its people well.
By realising my dream of becoming a
teacher I could teach them more, from
my knowledge and through experience,”
Sendah said.
Apart from those who can afford a
decent primary and secondary education, there are also some living in villages that are so inaccessible it’s nearly
impossible for teenagers to attend
school. Instead, they drop out and engage in general work.
There are villages perched on hills,
and in order to access the area one
needs to either cross a dilapidated cable
bridge or traipse through padi fields.
The villagers live at the mercy of the
rivers, and if a bridge collapses – which
has occurred – children are unable to
attend school.
The Honda and UNDP team was
also in Miri and Bario on 25-28 Feb 2008,
visiting 170 youths and representatives
from the indigenous groups of Sarawak
and informing them of the opportunities
available through the Honda Dreams
Fund. In the audience were repres-
entatives from various groups that
included the Kelabit, Orang Ulu, Kenyah,
Kayan, Bidayuh and Penan.
The last leg of the Honda Dreams
Fund campaign was held from 18-19
March, and took the team to Kampung
Jelintuh in Gopeng and then on to Cameron Highlands in an effort to reach indigenous groups in Peninsular Malaysia.
Pastor Eduan Bah Chimpok, who
gathered the orang asli for the talk in
Gopeng, said the Honda Dreams Fund
has the potential to create a positive
change in the community.
“This is a golden opportunity for the
orang asli. Most of them receive no
education, and those who do cannot
afford to further their studies. The way
that Honda and UNDP have put together this scholarship and the campaign
is a refreshing change. It is a real opportunity for the orang asli youths to realise
their dreams,” Chimpok said, adding
that it was the first time any corporation has gone to such lengths to talk
with the orang asli about an education scholarship.
Selected young Malaysians who made up the inaugural batch of Honda
Dreams Fund scholars were already on
their way to realising their dreams last
year. And this year, more will join those
ranks. The latest intake of scholars will be
selected from a short-listed roster of 60

We believe the effort is well worth

enges to face, including social issues
such as unemployment, poverty and selfperception. The interest the Honda Dreams
Fund has stimulated in these young indigenous people is nothing short of inspiring, and we’re proud to be part of it.
Because with the right educational
opportunities and some concerted effort,
as well as with the power of dreams,
future generations of orang asli will continue to be what they’ ve always been
throughout history: Malaysia’ s noble,
original people.

To apply, candidates were required to write

Apart from those who can afford a

There are villages perched on hills,

The villagers live at the mercy of the

The Honda and UNDP team was
also in Miri and Bario on 25-28 Feb 2008,

and informing them of the opportunities
available through the Honda Dreams
Fund. In the audience were repres-
entatives from various groups that
included the Kelabit, Orang Ulu, Kenyah,
Kayan, Bidayuh and Penan.
The last leg of the Honda Dreams
Fund campaign was held from 18-19
March, and took the team to Kampung
Jelintuh in Gopeng and then on to Cameron Highlands in an effort to reach indigenous groups in Peninsular Malaysia.
Pastor Eduan Bah Chimpok, who
gathered the orang asli for the talk in
Gopeng, said the Honda Dreams Fund
has the potential to create a positive
change in the community.
“This is a golden opportunity for the
orang asli. Most of them receive no
education, and those who do cannot
afford to further their studies. The way
that Honda and UNDP have put together this scholarship and the campaign
is a refreshing change. It is a real opportunity for the orang asli youths to realise
their dreams,” Chimpok said, adding
that it was the first time any corporation has gone to such lengths to talk
with the orang asli about an education scholarship.
Selected young Malaysians who made up the inaugural batch of Honda
Dreams Fund scholars were already on
their way to realising their dreams last
year. And this year, more will join those
ranks. The latest intake of scholars will be
selected from a short-listed roster of 60

What do you like about Honda?
I like Honda cars. They are stylish,
powerful and most importantly the brand
can be relied on and trusted. It is an
established name and Honda produces
cars that have the latest technology and
innovations.
What do you like about sending
your car to Global Amity?
The people at Global Amity are
courteous, polite and efficient. All complaints are dealt with efficiently and effectively. They always strive to resolve whatever problems customers have with their
cars, and they go the extra mile for
the customer.
How would you describe the
experience of driving the Honda Jazz?
The Jazz looks gorgeous. It’s a
pleasure to drive, and it’s so stylish that
Service Manager Mahathir b. Mahayuddin gives Rozela some helpful tips.
you feel good just being seen in it. On the
highway it’s smooth and steady, and on
city roads it’s fuel-efficient.
Are you currently eyeing any other
Honda vehicle as your next purchase? If
so, which one?
I’d like to own a Civic. I simply love it,
but at the moment I can’t afford one. If I
were to be married, then it would surely
be an MPV like the Stream. It would be
large enough to accommodate family
requirements. I love children, and so the
Stream would be ideal.
Why did you write the letter?
I don’t really know. I guess I was bored and needed an avenue to let it all out
of my system. It was really how I felt
about the crushes I had on the guy and
the Honda Jazz.
Where is your favourite destination
to drive with your Jazz?
I like the highways. It makes me
think, and I have time for myself.

Ms. Rozela Hanim
What is the best part of your Jazz?
I love the transmission. It is so effortless, and with no gearshifts it’s a pleasure. But most importantly, I like the shape.
It has ample space for all my things, and
it’s easy to park and drive. I can practically carry anything and everything I
could possibly want.
With DREAMS would like to extend a very
warm thank you to Ms. Rozela Hanim Yusof
– as well as two of her closest friends – for

was truly a pleasure meeting you, Ms.

The people at Global Amity are
courteous, polite and efficient. All complaints are dealt with efficiently and effectively. They always strive to resolve whatever problems customers have with their
cars, and they go the extra mile for
the customer.
How would you describe the
experience of driving the Honda Jazz?
The Jazz looks gorgeous. It’s a
pleasure to drive, and it’s so stylish that
Service Manager Mahathir b. Mahayuddin gives Rozela some helpful tips.
you feel good just being seen in it. On the
highway it’s smooth and steady, and on
city roads it’s fuel-efficient.
Are you currently eyeing any other
Honda vehicle as your next purchase? If
so, which one?
I’d like to own a Civic. I simply love it,
but at the moment I can’t afford one. If I
were to be married, then it would surely
be an MPV like the Stream. It would be
large enough to accommodate family
requirements. I love children, and so the
Stream would be ideal.
Why did you write the letter?
I don’t really know. I guess I was bored and needed an avenue to let it all out
of my system. It was really how I felt
about the crushes I had on the guy and
the Honda Jazz.
Where is your favourite destination
to drive with your Jazz?
I like the highways. It makes me
think, and I have time for myself.
With Dreams
– as well as two of her closest friends – for
appearing in this issue of our magazine. It
was truly a pleasure meeting you, Ms.
Rozela, and we wish you the best in all
your future endeavours.
Above, the winning letter Ms. Rozela wrote.

Anyone who’s seen the now-famous
television commercial for our i-CTDi
diesel engine will know the basic story:
we hated the way diesel emitted all that
nasty black smoke, so we changed it.
There was just nothing else for us to
do, really.
That’s because environmental issues
such as global warming are treated very
seriously by all of us here at Honda – not
only in product development but also in
production, distribution and sales.
So while we continually break new
ground in the development of advanced
technologies such as fuel cells and hybrid
systems, we also turned our eye to the
lowly diesel engine.
After all, diesel-powered vehicles
already emit less CO2 due to their higher fuel efficiency. All they needed was a
little Honda thinking to take them the
rest of the way.
And so we sat down to study diesel
-engine technology as it exists around
the world.
Old-technology diesel engines employ
spontaneous combustion. As piston pressure compresses air to a high temperature, the fuel is injected directly at high
pressure. The fuel mixes with the air and
combustion takes place.
Reduced engine speed causes injection
pressure to fall, and the air and fuel are
incompletely mixed. The result is partial
combustion and the production of Particulate Matter (PM).
PM tends to be more prevalent at
lower travel speeds, and the most familiar
image is one of a large industrial vehicle
belching clouds of black smoke as the
vehicle first begins to roll along.
But the introduction of the common
rail system changed the face of diesel.
The common rail system electronically controls fuel-injection timing and
volume with an accumulator for highpressure fuel injection, optimizing com-

bustion without needing to rely on high
engine speeds.
Ultra-high pressure enables finer fuel
atomization and correspondingly higher
injection speeds, which makes it easier
to mix air and fuel while allowing the fuel
to be injected several times during each
combustion cycle. NOx and PM production is kept to a minimum at all engine
speeds, and as a result the black clouds
of soot began to disappear.
The noise and vibration normally associated with diesel engines also vanished
thanks to the smoother combustion pattern, and the reputation of diesel-powered
vehicles had improved significantly. But
much more could still be done.
First off, the project team set out
to completely overhaul the common rail
system and ensure it achieved its maximum potential.
The team adjusted the timing and
amount of fuel injected as they pursued
ideal combustion, applying new technologies derived from Honda’s gasoline
engine experience.
They also reduce engine weight by
using an aluminium cylinder block.
Utilizing our cumulative casting expertise,
Honda succeeded in mass-producing
the first aluminium diesel engine in the
two-litre class.
Honda announced our new i-CTDi
2.2-litre diesel engine at a Swiss motor
show held in Geneva during March 2003.
Then in January 2004 we began equipping Accord models sold in Europe with
this cutting-edge engine.
And the most recent development
occurred on 25 September 2006, when
we announced the next-generation
i-CTDi diesel engine – capable of reducing over-all exhaust emissions to levels
equivalent to those of a petrol engine.
The next-generation i-CTDi diesel
engine incorporates a revolutionary NOx
catalytic converter that enables a great

reduction in NOx emissions. Enough of
a reduction, in fact, to meet stringent
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) Tier II Bin 5 emissions requirements
(based on Honda’s internal calculations).
This catalytic converter features the
world’s first system using the reductive
reaction of ammonia generated within
the catalytic converter to “detoxify”
nitrogen oxide (NO x ) by turning it into
harmless nitrogen (N2).
The new catalytic converter utilizes
an innovative two-layer structure: one
layer adsorbs NOx from the exhaust gas
and converts a portion of it into ammonia, while the other layer adsorbs the
resulting ammonia – using it later in a
reaction that converts the remaining
NOx in the exhaust into nitrogen (N2).
Since ammonia is a highly effective
reagent for converting NOx into N2 in an
oxygen-rich atmosphere, the ability to
generate and store ammonia within the
catalytic converter itself has allowed
Honda to create a compact, lightweight
NO x reduction system for our i-CTDi
diesel engine. The system also features
enhanced NOx reduction performance
at 200-300ºC, the main operating temperature range of diesel engines.
By further advancing combustion
control, the new Honda 2.2-litre i-CTDi
diesel engine delivers cleaner exhaust
to the NOx catalytic converter. We achieved this by optimizing the combustion
chamber configuration, reducing fuel
injection time with a 2,000-bar common
rail injection system and boosting the
efficiency of the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system.
Our pursuit of environmental sustainability – coupled with the joy of driving
and a firm belief in the power of dreams
– has allowed Honda to create the next
generation i-CTDi diesel engine, opening
the world’s eyes to the cleaner possibilities of diesel-powered vehicles.

Introducing the RA108
Expanding on Honda’s latest F1 racing
machine, Brawn offered a sneak peek at
what lies under the hood.
“The RA108 is an entirely different
concept from its predecessors in terms
of aerodynamic layout and mechanical
structure. Developed to allow for greater
aerodynamic packaging and exploitation,
the new design facilitates the introduction of performance upgrades throughout
the season. With a focus on attaining a
high-level of aerodynamic efficiency and
stability, the chassis has been revised to
interact with the different features and
the suspension. This allows for further
developments to take place such as the
introduction of a revised aerodynamic
package during the ING Australian Grand
Prix in Melbourne,” said Brawn.
“The exhaust geometry and air box
have also been changed to suit the
RA108’s aerodynamic package. Significant FIA regulation changes in the
areas of electronics and gearbox have
meant outfitting the RA108 with an FIA
standard electronic control unit and software, while ensuring seamless integration with the RA108’ s engine, gearbox and chassis. With the removal of
traction control and other driver aids, we
now see greater emphasis on driver skill.
Furthermore, we’ ve conducted extensive tests on the RA108’s new carbon
composite gearbox to ensure it meets
the new regulations, which require each
gearbox to complete four Grand Prixs. I
am confident that we can meet the levels
of reliability required,” he added.
In the area of driver safety, the RA108
goes beyond FIA safety regulations
and crash test requirements for impact
structures such as the nose, monocoque
(vehicle body) and rear, increasing the
protection for the driver around the
headrest area.

The unveiling of the RA108 was more than just a showcase of the Honda Racing F1
Team’s new race car – it celebrated a revolutionary change for the team. We find out
from the team’s Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry and new Team Principal Ross
Brawn what exactly has changed, and what the goals are for 2008.
The advanced RA108 is a testament to
the superiority of Honda’s engineering

A Dream to Go Green
Honda isn’t just in the business of building better cars – it’s also in the business
of building a better environment. Find out how in this special feature.
the process.
The Paint Department consumes the
highest level of electricity at the plant, so
developing a more efficient paint application system would not only reduce
electricity consumption but also minimise
paint wastage and lower CO2 emissions.
The first improvement introduced
was the Inverter System. Within just one
month of its trial, electricity consumption
was reduced by as much as 34 per cent.
Assistant Manager/Facility Maintenance
of the Manufacturing Division, Mohd.
Fauzi Salamun provided insight into how
the system works.
“An Inverter System essentially controls the speed of a motor. By setting a
specific frequency, a user is able to
restrict the amount of electricity a machine uses during start-up. The lower
the frequency, the lesser the amount
of energy consumed. Introducing the
Inverter System into the Painting Department gives us better control of the
electricity consumption. This is unlike the
conventional system where maximum
electrical power is automatically used to
start the machine within the quickest
time possible,” said Fauzi.
“The success of the Inverter System

environmental conversation, Honda’s
passion in wanting to help create a

Although a fairly young facility setup,
Honda Malaysia is using these initiatives
to achieve its biggest dream – to be the

“The bell spray gun electromagnetically charges the paint, giving it a positive charge. This causes the vehicle surface, which contains a negative charge,
to attract most of the paint and so minimises wastage,” Fauzi explained. In

has also lowered harmful Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions by an

the process.
The Paint Department consumes the
highest level of electricity at the plant, so
developing a more efficient paint application system would not only reduce
electricity consumption but also minimise
paint wastage and lower CO2 emissions.
The first improvement introduced
was the Inverter System. Within just one
month of its trial, electricity consumption
was reduced by as much as 34 per cent.
Assistant Manager/Facility Maintenance
of the Manufacturing Division, Mohd.
Fauzi Salamun provided insight into how
the system works.
“An Inverter System essentially controls the speed of a motor. By setting a
specific frequency, a user is able to
restrict the amount of electricity a machine uses during start-up. The lower
the frequency, the lesser the amount
of energy consumed. Introducing the
Inverter System into the Painting Department gives us better control of the
electricity consumption. This is unlike the
conventional system where maximum
electrical power is automatically used to
start the machine within the quickest
time possible,” said Fauzi.
“The success of the Inverter System

environmental conversation, Honda’s
passion in wanting to help create a

Although a fairly young facility setup,
Honda Malaysia is using these initiatives
to achieve its biggest dream – to be the

Officially opened on January 30,
2003, the 80-acre plant is situated in the
HICOM Pegoh Industrial Park of Alor

zones: a main area that houses the automobile assembly activities and auxiliary
buildings; a Constant Velocity Joint (CVJ)
factory; and a completely built-up (CBU)
pre-delivery operation centre. The plant
even possesses its very own test track.
But there’ s more to this state-ofthe-art automobile production plant
than meets the eye. It also boasts an

entirely by Honda Malaysia – without outsourcing to any third party.
Truly a testament to the resourcefulness and capabilities of its people,
Honda Malaysia’s ability to develop its
very own Environmental Management
System (EMS) and obtain international
certification in May 2007 is nothing
short of an impressive achievement.
We spoke to General Manager of the
Manufacturing Division, Azhar Abd.

reason behind Honda Malaysia’s choice
to be self-reliant.
“A fundamental Honda belief is
the respect of an individual's initiative,
equality and trust. As every associate is
considered an equal and everyone is
encouraged to come up with ideas that
are beneficial to all, Honda Malaysia’s
ability to develop its own EMS without

The launch of an impressive car calls for an equally impressive stage performance.
Honda has always been synonymous with innovation and technology. And ever since its humble beginnings in 1976, the Honda
Accord has been praised for its interior space, driving comfort
and stylish design – not to mention a savvy combination of economic value, sporty response and exhilarating performance.
So it was with this rich heritage in mind that the 8th generation
Honda Accord was recently launched in Malaysia. The All-New
Accord clearly made a positive impression on Honda fans eager
to catch a glimpse of this much-anticipated car.
Just like its predecessors, the All-New Accord boasts several
exciting technological innovations.
When in heavy traffic and high output isn’t required, Honda’s
Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) System regulates cylinder
function by utilising only three cylinders to reduce unnecessary
engine wear and tear.
And of course, VCM is expected to provide the efficient fuel
consumption that Honda drivers like K.S. Chia, who attended the
event, recognize as a hallmark of all Honda vehicles.
“The Accord is a value-for-money buy. You get more for the
price, with more thought and consideration put into it,” Chia said.
Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering provides improved stopand-go city driving and more precise cornering response, while
innovative Shift Hold Control prevents unnecessary gearhunting. Options include a 2-litre or 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine, while
drivers hungry for muscle will appreciate a 275ps 3.5-litre
V6 powerhouse.
The car’s stance and overall size have also increased, for a
roomier interior and added comfort that proved to be a big hit
with businessmen like Tham Chee Wah.
“I can definitely see myself buying the Accord as it exudes
class and luxury,” Tham said, giving the car an enthusiastic
thumbs-up.
Seats, steering wheel, gear-shift knob and door panels – all
clad in sumptuous leather – stylishly express Honda’s new
design language. This strong feeling of personal space, style and
sophistication puts the All-New Accord ahead of its class.
Even safety is augmented by an improved double wishbone
suspension that stabilises braking and steering response, while
a 40 per cent rigidity increase improves handling and reduces
road noise and vibrations.
Roughly 300 invited guests enjoyed a dinner, as conversation
turned to information on the All-New Accord guests had garnered

from fansites and blogs. The launch event was attended by
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and CEO Atsushi Fujimoto
and popular TV personality Paula Malai Ali, who hosted the
evening and helped create a very successful event.
“The car looks gorgeous. A true executive sedan that has
grown in stature, it gives competitors a run for their money,” said
guest Damien Chee, adding the Accord made a lasting impression with its luxurious and sporty look.
Guests were also given a surprise performance: a dynamic
musical number entitled No Limits, inspired by the All-New
Accord. Producer Penny Low explained that the musical was
based on a story of a world that – through unforeseen circumstances – had the memories of its people completely wiped out.
“It portrays how a woman found a method of teleportation
that could bring back memories of its people. Thus, the heroine
put together an army that was driven to bring back to humanity
what it had lost. This was inspired by the driving spirit of Honda,
and particularly the Accord,” Low said.
Low explained that the evening’s musical, a sneak preview,
was to be shown to the public in July and that the piece is the
first science-fiction musical to ever be staged in Malaysia. No
Limits and the All-New Accord are both certainly worth looking
forward to.

innovative Shift Hold Control prevents unnecessary gearhunting.
Even safety is augmented by an improved double wishbone
suspension that stabilises braking and steering response, while
a 40 per cent rigidity increase improves handling and reduces
road noise and vibrations.

from fansites and blogs.
No
Limits and the All-New Accord are both certainly worth looking
forward to.
