A limited number of Routemasters continues to operate on so-called Heritage Routes as can be seen from the advertisements on RM2217. SCALE 1:24 2921 NEW SCALE 1:24 Sun Star continues its innovative series of authentic 1:24 scale buses. As promised last year, we are now starting to trace the history of one of the most famous and popular London double-deckers; the RT. Our first RT model was RT113, a 1939 2RT2 model in wartime livery. Our series continues with three new models. RT10, one of the original 150 2RT2’s, is modelled, as it was in 1946 in the post-war red and cream livery. RT36, one of the last 2RT2’s in passenger operation, will be replicated as it was in 1955, in the green and cream livery of the Country Area, whilst RT402 is our first 3RT3 model with the revised cab, 4 ventilation louvres, single front roofbox and revised destination blind boxes. Our Bedford OB coach series will feature two early 1949 coaches. Our exciting new model of Southdown Motor Services Fleet Number 70 is bound to be a big success, not only because of the popularity of this operator, but also because it will be the first ever authentic model in any scale of one of the two Bedford OB’s operated by Southdown by truly replicating in the finest detail all the features of this early 1949 vehicle without any concession due to compromises made in tooling design. Our model of Royal Blue Fleet Number 580 also shows the advantage of avoiding the use of generic tooling by reproducing all the minutes details of the original vehicle. Finally, our replica of Southern National Fleet Number 1340 is the first example of the late 1949 Bedford OB with its revised front and rear bumpers, rear indicators and luggage doors. Finally, Sun Star bids its own farewell to the iconic Routemaster with the final model in its Routemaster series, RM2217 - CUV 217C:The Last Routemaster. All Sun Star 1:24 scale bus models are strictly limited editions with numbered certificates. Features: • Opening bonnet with authentic replica engine • Detailed driver's cab with opening door • Opening passenger windows • Detailed interior with individual, decorated seats • Poseable wheels • Detailed chassis • Limited Edition with numbered certificate 2 RT 2921 1946 RT10 - FXT 185 RT10 entered service in May 1940 at the Chelverton Road garage and was then transferred in December 1940 to Putney. We have modelled RT10 as it was in 1946, having been painted in the new red and cream livery which was almost exactly the same as the original RT1 prototype and which would be adopted as the standard livery for STL’s and new and overhauled RT’s for the next four years. By this time, an off-side headlight had been incorporated into the body below the driver’s window. 3 2922 Features: • Opening bonnet with authentic replica engine • Detailed driver's cab with opening door • Opening passenger windows • Detailed interior with individual, decorated seats • Poseable wheels • Detailed chassis • Limited Edition with numbered certificate 4 NEW SCALE 1:24 RT 2922 1955 RT36 - FXT 211 The last of the pre-war 2RT2’s were withdrawn from passenger service on May 31st 1955. Most of them stayed with London Transport as driver training or staff transport vehicles. However, on Country Bus Route 327, which was operated out of Hertford garage, there was a bridge at Broxbourne which had a weight-carrying restriction which would not allow a standard post-war RT3 with a full load of passengers to cross over it. In the absence of any suitable STL’s, RT36 was one of only seven 2RT2’s to be re-painted in the green and cream livery of the Country Area and to re-enter passenger service on June 1st 1955, where it stayed until August 31st 1957 before final withdrawal when the bridge had been strengthened. Our model replicates RT36 during its operation on 327. 2923 Features: • Opening bonnet with authentic replica engine • Detailed driver's cab with opening door • Opening passenger windows • Detailed interior with individual, decorated seats • Poseable wheels • Detailed chassis • Limited Edition with numbered certificate NEW SCALE 1:24 RT 2923 1947 RT402 - HLX 219 In 1947, manufacture of the first post-war RT’s started and on Saturday May 10th of that year, RT402 was the first of them to enter service, operating out of the Leyton garage on Route 10.This Weymann-bodied vehicle is a 3RT3 and incorporates all the characteristics this body. Externally, the cab windows were revised and the ventilation louvres were reduced in number. Furthermore, the rear off-side body panel in front of the rear wheel arch no longer curved inwards. In terms of Route information, a Route number plate was added to the front near-side pillar and one above the front near-side window was removed, the front destination blind box was re-located below the Via box and the rear roofbox has been omitted. Internally, the fare chart moved to the off-side bulkhead, just above the off-side longitudinal bench seat, and a bell cord was added. 5 5007 NEW 5008 SCALE 1:24 1949 Bedford OB Duple Vista – Southdown Motor Services Ltd No.70 : JCD370 JCD370 was one of two Bedford OB’s delivered new to Southdown Motor Services in the spring of 1949. As with all early 1949 OB’s, the characteristic chrome ‘flash’ along the sides had been re-introduced after the austerity of the 1948 models, as were the chrome over-riders on the front bumpers. At the rear, the luggage compartment had a T-key lock, the operator’s panel beneath the rear window was cream and the rear bumper was the early thin type since the deeper bumper with the Bedford-Duple wording was only introduced later that year. Features: • Opening bonnet with detailed engine • Sliding roof and entrance door • Operating trafficators • Opening emergency door with First Aid kit • Individually decorated seats, 27 or 29 configuration • Overhead luggage racks • Detailed dashboard and instruments • Posable front wheels • Detailed chassis • Clock and mirrors at front of passenger compartment • Window winders • Ashtrays in the seat backs • Limited Edition with numbered certificate 6 5009 NEW NEW SCALE 1:24 1949 Bedford OB Duple Vista – Royal Blue No.580 : HOD120 Royal Blue was the brand for the coaches operated by Southern and Western National. Originally, all vehicles were operated by the owning companies in their cream and green liveries before being repainted in the Royal Blue colours. HOD120 was an early 1949 vehicle, operated by Southern National and based at Swanage in Dorset, Although as Fleet Number 580 it was numerically Royal Blue’s first Bedford OB, it was not actually repainted and transferred until May 1955, the first Royal Blue OB’s having been 587 and 590 which had been repainted in June 1953. At the same time as the change in livery, the seating configuration was also changed, from 29 seats to 27, although the seat moquette remained unchanged from the original Southern National material. SCALE 1:24 1949 Bedford OB Duple Vista – Southern National No.1430 : LTA906 LTA906 is a late 1949 OB with the deeper rear bumper in the center of which is the Bedford Duple logo. Also at the rear, LTA906 has the revised ‘flashing arrow’ indicators and the central chrome handle on the luggage compartment, which replaced the earlier T-key lock. At the front, it has the simpler bumper where the chromed over-riders have been replaced with chromed decorative strips. 7
