Saturday, November 23, 2013 11:45am – 12:45pm An Educational Approach Using Horse Boy Method: No Horses Required – Workshop #1 Joell Dunlap, Executive Director, Square Peg Ranch, a HorseBoy™ Center K A S Discover how this method, designed primarily for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) but with benefits for nearly everyone, offers options to families for whom traditional classroom learning is proving to be ineffective. Joell Dunlap will discuss the child-led approach to teaching everything from language to science using the environment, movement and most of all - fun. Learn how you can create a "yes" (rather than a "no") environment for children with sensory and ASD. Breakthrough principles such as "communication not compliance" and "start where the child is, not where you wish him to be" will also be illustrated. The method offers parents choices and success for children who find disappointment and "failure" in other approaches. It gives permission to choose alternate ways of education and brings fun and enjoyment back to learning and parenting.
