ecoming an accomplished long hair stylist requires patience, persistence
and the initiative to learn the basic fundamentals before integrating
imagination and creative expression into a finished design.
The principles related to design are essential and include visualizing,
proportioning, balancing, detailing and finishing. “Long Hair Secrets” by Martin
Parsons addresses these core skills offering a curriculum instructors can teach
with confidence and clarity.
“I wanted to let you know how
great the “Long Hair Secrets”
Lesson Plans are working for us.
They’re set up in a way that’s very
easy for students to follow, but
more importantly, for instructors
to present. The step-by-step
allows for greater control of the
class, ease in evaluating student
progress and pinpointing those
that may be struggling a bit and
need more assistance. Martin
has made up-styling a science
that can be used to create
anything and do it very easily.”

Our students love the program and we are

agree that it is easy to teach and understand
from the moment you look at the lesson plans.
We are very happy with the program”.

verybody seems to have
a slightly different head
shape. What all heads have
in common are a series of points
around it that mark the change in
direction of the head’s shape.
This technique utilizes these
points for guides for balancing a
style, sectioning, teasing, pinning
and decorating the hair with
ornaments.
Understanding these points of
balance will have really positive
effects on your speed and your
accuracy immediately.
There are vertical planes and
horizontal planes as shown in
the diagrams. Where the vertical
lines intersect the horizontal lines
is where we pin shapes, direct
panels, place ornaments, balance
the details of each finish, and use
as guides to make each shape suit
the face and profile.

educators also receive yearly training sessions from the Martin

Adding Martin
Parsons curriculum
to our school has
been very beneficial
to me as a student. It
has given me more
control over the hair
design, equaling out
the face shape to the
hair. It has also given
me new ideas in
using my creativity.
I now know how to
hide the bobby pins
and looping the hair,
which gives the hair
a much nicer, sleeker
look. It has taught
me some patience,
small details and
smaller sections
allows me to create
more in a shorter
amount of time.
