What all heads have in common are a series of points around it that mark the change in direction of the head’s shape. This technique utilizes these points for guides for balancing a style, sectioning, teasing, pinning and decorating the hair with ornaments. Understanding these points of balance will have really positive effects on your speed and your accuracy immediately. There are vertical planes and horizontal planes as shown in the diagrams. Where the vertical lines intersect the horizontal lines is where we pin shapes, direct panels, place ornaments, balance the details of each finish, and use as guides to make each shape suit the face and profile.
