Dear Campers, A Rav in Yerushalayim was once speaking to a group of young kollel yungerleit who were thinking of getting involved in a kiruv organization. “But Rebbe”, one asked, “how will we deal with all the deep philosophical questions we will be asked? What if we don’t know all the answers? How can we be so confident that we will have a positive influence on our fellow Jews?” The Rav smiled and responded, “You don’t need to be some fancy intellectual who has read up on all the different theologies of the world. All you have to do is bring them into your home, show them how a Yid behaves at a Shabbos Seuda, and how a Yid walks, talks, and interacts with his friends. That will be more powerful than any argument in philosophy.” We feel that the same could be said of our campers and counselors. “All you have to do is bring a fellow Jew to Eeshay during the week of Color War and they will truly be inspired.” The Achdus between the Generals, Captains, and campers was incredible. The commitment from everyone to chip in really allowed the 2 and a half days of Color War to be so intense and fun at the same time; all of it leading up to the emotional singing of both Alma Maters when it was clear to all in the room that we really do appreciate how special it is to have a group of friends to share our summers together and to grow through it all. To those Campers and Staff members who are leaving early for the Zman, every one of you added to the ruach of camp and we enjoyed every day together. Our hope is that you take the positive experiences from Camp with you to yeshiva and continue shteiging. Have a Great Shabbos, Rabbi Schonfeld Rabbi Kramer GUESS WHO???? TALMIDEI HASHEVUA Chazarah Q’ OF THE WEEK: Why are women obligated to eat Matzoh? Isn’t it a time bound Mitzvah? GOODBYE FROM THE “WEIS” As most of you already know, Friday was my last day in camp. B’ezras Hashem on Monday I’ll be flying to Eretz Yisrael where I’ll be in Yeshiva Torah Ohr for the year. I simply can’t believe that camp is almost over, it feels like yesterday that I had my first conversation with R’ Schonfeld about camp. During that phone call he shared with me his vision of Eeshay, what he hoped it would become and what he wanted it to accomplish. I admit now, that at first I was a little skeptical,. could such an ambitious camp really exist? Perhaps it wouldn’t live up to the expectations of the campers? I kept these concerns to myself and I decided to wait until a few days into camp before I passed any judgment. I didn’t need to wait a few days. After the first day of camp it was quite evident that camp was a smashing hit that had exceeded our wildest dreams. All of the credit goes to R’ Schonfeld who I can’t thank enough for allowing me to play a minor role in camp. R’ Kramer, I looked forward to your smile good morning every day, I learnt so much just from watching you. I would like to thank Dovid Sanders and all of the counselors for a fantastic summer! I would love to keep in contact with all of you while I’m in Israel, the best way for anyone who wants to stay in touch is to email me at aharonweisenfeld@gmail.com. Answer Key: YR+SF, ML+MB, YK+SM 2 That may have been one of the most incredible color wars I have ever had the privilege of being part of. First of all we totally deceived, duped and tricked ALL of you with the fake out then breakout with Tony. Then the round robin basketball game was crazy intense with 7th grade starting the come from behind win in overtime. The sports, races and swimming were phenomenal, with the possible exception of 7th grade hockey. (Seriously guys we were up 7-3 going into the final period!) There are a lot of people who put their heart and soul into color war to make sure it ran as smoothly as possible while at the same time making it as enjoyable as it was. RABBI SCHONFELD, as always you set the tone, together with RABBI KRAMER and DOVID SANDERS you somehow created an amazing schedule. I can’t believe how efficient and organized you guys were. To my captain AYLEE FUCHS thank you so much for staying up so late with me planning and strategizing. Thank you for late night runs to quick check for energy drinks, and for sacrificing your sleep. You were so helpful with all of your insights, suggestions, and ideas; I don’t know what I would have done without you, thank you. YEDIDYA ALPER you were incredible, leading the cheer song and alma mater, they wouldn’t have been half as good without you. Your solo and harmony blew us all away. MECHI PLITTMAN it was awesome to see someone get so into the alma mater, thank you for your help during team time and for being so positive. HESHY KATZ all of your hard work for the team simply can’t be measured thank you. AVI WISOSTKY, you were an incredible general, and one of the nicest people I know, you earned that victory. YOSEF ROSS that play was one of the funniest I have ever seen, great job. Jake Sperling, your solo was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to hear. Finally a special thank you to all of the members of the Blue team, you guys were into it, you played well, sang well and displayed flawless middos on and off the field, better luck next year! - General Ari Wow Color War was AMAZING!!!!!!!! The sports, plays, cheer songs, alma maters, relay races, swim races, home run derby, Football throw, three point shootouts, round robin, come-frombehind victories- all made this one of the most memorable and spectacular Color wars I’ll ever be a part of. To CAPTAIN ROSS and CAPTAIN LEVY all the staff, you are the best! What a play you put on! Hilarious!! AKI helping with the songs. BACHRACH dominating everything, EHRMAN pumping us up, you all gave it your heart and soul and sleepless nights. We would be nowhere without you guys. After the pumping and thrilling entrance by the generals and captains bedecked in blue and orange, respectively, we wasted no time by heading straight to the gym for intense battle of round robin. DAY 2: Staff volleyball featured an epic duel between YEDIDYA and YITZY. We secured the victory 2 games to 1 (He was OVER). Thanks to Aryeh Hellman’s dominant serving, Orange won 6th grade volleyball 4 games to 1. The 6th grade football game was thrilling. A high scoring affair, Dovid Feder showed his cannon for an arm and poise in the clutch by throwing it 90 yards…CAUGHT BY FEINSOD, TOUCHDOWN!!!! Our 7th grade came up big by winning in baseball, our 8th grade, led by our star quarterback Shmuel Hyman, along with all of our great receivers, we pulled out a crucial victory over blue. The 8th grade basketball was truly a great game, even though we los by 3. (Lets not talk about 6th grade hockey- the game was cancelled.) After the pumping cheer, we went back out to the fields to have relay races, home run derby, football throw, and other fun activities. With our speed and athleticism, we dominated. Back to the gym for the free throw shooting and 3 point shooting contest. Day 3: Torah bowl, 7th grade (dk, yr,mb bs) insane comeback from 7-3 in hockey, plays, alma mater, what a day. 1423-1410! A nail bighting finish. General Ari, you are a great general and an even greater friend.
