The Combinations Are Limitless!
Derby
Hello Derby Family and Friends,
I’d like to start this introduction to our new product lineup by sincerely thanking all of
you for everything you do for the sport of roller derby. The long hours you’ve spent
practicing, organizing bouts, tournaments, and training camps, and supporting your
local communities speaks volumes about the dedication you have to yourselves and to
each other. It’s very easy to see why roller derby continues to grow and touch many new
people every day. At Riedell, we’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many of your
events all over the world where we have gotten to know some of you – but not nearly as
many as we’d like to! We value those experiences and we hope that we have been helpful
to you during our time together.
I’m very excited to introduce to you several important advancements to our product line
this year. First and foremost is the all-new urethane Shark hub by Radar Wheels (featured
on the all-new Radar Bullet wheel – p.13) that’s designed with exclusive convex “fins”
that produce superior roll and balanced support to the urethane tire. Several months of
development went into making sure the Shark hub is the finest, ultralight synthetic hub
available today. We’re thrilled with the performance it offers. Second, is the all-new Rival
plate (p.11) from PowerDyne that will be available in the fall of 2012. The Rival is made
from extruded aluminum in a lightweight and proven design based off the PowerDyne
Reactor plate at a fantastic price. For strength, value, and performance, the Rival has
no equal. I’m also pleased to mention that the fit and performance of our handmade
boots continues to become more accessible as our Models 965, 495, 265, 126, and 122
are all stocked and ready to ship in both our Gamma (D/B) and Delta (B/AA) widths. We
will continue to stay hard at work making sure that our products are as user-friendly and
readily available as possible.
Finally, I encourage you to stay current with Riedell and our family of brands – PowerDyne
plates, Radar wheels, and KwiK bearings – by visiting our website, finding Riedell
(Facebook.com/RiedellRoller) and Radar wheels (Facebook.com/RadarWheels) on
Facebook, and by viewing the information and products on the following pages. All of
us at Riedell genuinely appreciate the trust you have put in our products and we look
forward to exceeding your expectations in the future through our commitment to quality,
value, and performance.

Boot Technology
Lasts & counters
Lasts – responsible for the shape and fit of the boot.
We have multiple lasts that differ in multiple areas
including heel width, toe box height, and ball width.
Open vs. Closed lacing – open lacing offers more
lacing flexibility – especially handy during boot break-in.
Closed lacing offers more toe protection and durability.
Long counter – forms the heel pocket of the boot.
Ours are made from a strong, fibrous material for
support and a secure fit. The longer edge of the counter
runs along the inside of the boot.
Low toe box height – a fit that is snugger and tends to
make boots feel shorter. This fit is best for those who have
pointy toes. Boots built on our “Alpha” 248D last are good
examples (see p.8).
Short counter – same as a long counter but stops
shorter along the inside of the boot. This allows for heat
moldable material to be added in its place.
High toe box height – a fit that is roomier and tends
to make boots feel longer. This fit is best for those who
have squared off toes. Boots built on our “Gamma” D/B
last are good examples (see p.8). Reinforced hard toe on
Model 965 and Model 1065 boots adds additional height.
Boot linings
Tongue linings
Chinook – full grain leather that has been specially
treated to resist the salts and acids in sweat. Chinook
leather breaks in to become soft and supple and holds
its shape very well over time. Our most premium lining.
Shearling – 1/2" genuine Shearling backed with sponge
padding to reduce lace bite.
Gray impregnated leather – split leather
impregnated with color and material to provide the feel
of full grain leather. This lining breaks in to become soft
and holds its shape very well over time.
Fleece – 1/2" animal-friendly alternative to Shearling that
is also backed with a thin layer of sponge padding.
Beige suede microfiber – lightweight material
treated for odor resistance and backed with foam for
extra comfort. This lining is very comfortable when
new and stretches slightly to accommodate wider feet.
Featured in our Model 965.
3/16" sponge – sponge rubber padding designed to reduce
lace bite and add cushion.
Dri-Lex™ - hollow fiber lining that wicks moisture
away from your feet. Backed with a thin layer of
urethane foam for additional padding. Dri-Lex™ is
very comfortable when new and stretches slightly to
accommodate wider feet.
1/8" sponge – our thinnest tongue lining for those looking
for a snug, minimalist feel to their boots.
Cambrelle® - non-woven nylon lining provides
extreme strength and durability. Similar to Dri-Lex™,
it is backed with a thin layer of foam. Cambrelle®
holds its shape very well over time.

Lacing patterns & toe fit
With over 65 years of boot-making experience and knowledge behind every pair of Riedell boots,
our products are the finest in the industry and the choice of top athletes everywhere who demand the highest levels of performance. All of our materials are hand-sorted for the absolute
finest quality and we are always refining, challenging, and improving our production process to
bring you the best products available. The information found on pages 3 and 4 details how our
boots are formed, the superior materials we use, and the innovative features found in our boots.
Foot enclosure systems
Collars
Heel Lock System (HLS) – durable nylon
webbing band system with 360 degree leverage
designed to wrap the entire boot around your heel.
Padded – the unique padded collar of our Model 965
is cushioned for maximum comfort and curved to gently
brace your Achilles tendon.
Ankle Closure System (ACS) – a combination of our
HLS and snug tie, the durable nylon webbing ACS secures
the boot closer to your ankle than your heel. Excellent
security around the Achilles tendon.
Rolled – rolled collars provide a soft edge for more comfort
without the extra material of padded collars for a sleeker fit.
Velcro cinch strap – ankle strap positioned in
a unique location that secures your heel but allows
your ankle to flex.
Padded-Rolled – padded-rolled collars snug up the ankle
of the boot through the use of additional cushioning.
Snug tie – durable nylon webbing material that
snugs the boot around your ankle.
Straight – traditional straight collars offer a minimalist
design for the greatest range of motion.
Extras
Riedell HF-5 heat molding
Power Toe – featured on our Model 1065, the Power
Toe angles your toes slightly upward for better leverage
when pushing off.
Set back eyelet – featured on our Model 965, the set
back eyelet helps to secure your heel by pulling more of
the boot towards your foot when lacing.
U-shaped tongue – more natural design meant to
meet the curve of your foot and stay out of your way.
1. Preheat boot oven or convection oven to 180 degrees.
2. Wheels and cushions should be removed from skate packages. Plates can remain attached.
3. Heat boots for 2-3 minutes.
4. Remove boots from oven. Plates, metal eyelets and metal lace loops will be hot - use
caution around these areas.
5. Place foot in the boot. Lace the boot with firm, snug tension on the laces starting at the
throat area over the top of the toes. Maintain the same lacing tension to the top of the boot.
6. Leave the boots on for approximately 10 minutes. This will allow the boots to shape and
contour to the skater’s feet.
7. Remove the boots and relax the feet for several minutes. Put the boots back on and lace
with normal, comfortable lacing pressure.
8. If discomfort or specific pressure points exist, heat the area of the boot with a heat gun or
hair dryer and adjust with a ball and ring stretcher or boot press as needed.
9. Put the boots on again and lace with normal pressure. Step #8 can be repeated as often as
necessary to achieve proper comfort.

lining – and is now also customizable in your combination of our colored exterior materials from
Riedell ColorLab™ at no extra charge. PowerDyne Revenge plates made from extruded aircraft
grade aluminum are matched with the 1065 along with lightweight Radar Tile Biter wheels
that offer outstanding roll (speed) and grip. New to the Siren are the natural rubber PowerDyne
Moonwalker toe stops that have excellent grip, reliable control and agility, and are non-marking on
all surfaces so you can use them anywhere. Performance thrives in every part of the Siren.
Torch
Boot: 495 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Revenge Aluminum
Wheels: Radar Bullet 93A Neon Purple
Bearings: KwiK Swiss Nitride
Toe Stop: PowerDyne Moonwalker Electric Yellow
Sizes: 3-13 Full & Half – B/AA + D/B
The revolutionary Torch skate returns with improvements designed to further push the boundaries
of what a skate should do for the demanding derby athlete. The agility and instant response of the
Model 495 boot is enhanced through the grip, roll, and edge control provided by the breakthrough
technologies of the Shark hub and Derbythane tire compound in the all-new Radar Bullet wheels.
PowerDyne Moonwalker toe stops allow you to stop quickly and maneuver in tight spaces while
KwiK Swiss Nitride bearings work to get you rolling faster. The quick and lively core of the Torch,
PowerDyne Revenge plates (see p.11), keep you secure and transfer your power efficiently at all
times. Trust the Torch to exceed your expectations and take your game to the next level.
Minx
Boot: 965 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Rival Aluminum (Available Fall 2012)
Wheels: Radar Bullet 93A Neon Purple
Bearings: KwiK Zenith (Available Fall 2012)
Toe Stop: PowerDyne Moonwalker Mint
Sizes: 3-13 Full & Half – B/AA + D/B
When battling it out on the track, your skates need to provide power and control. The Riedell Minx
has you covered in both areas. Power comes from the strength of the all-new extruded aluminum
PowerDyne Rival plate, the fast and smooth roll of the all-new KwiK Zenith bearings, and the firm
edge of the Shark hub in the all-new Radar Bullet wheels. For the control necessary to harness
that power, the curved heel pocket and heat moldable reinforcements of the Model 965 boot keep
your foot locked securely in place, all in the comfort of our supple beige suede microfiber lining.
Together, power and control is a potent combination – and that combination is all yours with the
Riedell Minx.

Wicked
Boot: 265 Black or White
Plate: PowerDyne Rival Aluminum (Available Fall 2012)
Wheels: Radar Bullet 93A Neon Purple
Bearings: KwiK Zenith (Available Fall 2012)
Toe Stop: PD Moonwalker Electric Yellow
Sizes: 3-13 Full & Half – B/AA + D/B
As the sport of roller derby has evolved, so too must the iconic Wicked skate. Our hand-sorted full
grain leather Model 265 boot now comes stocked in two different widths with expanded sizing so
more skaters can find a perfect fit – something that is critical to performing your best. The all-new
PowerDyne Rival plate attaches to the Model 265 in the Wicked, adding excellent response from the
rigid extruded aluminum and high rebound urethane cushions. All of that response and precision
doesn’t mean anything if you can’t put it down on the track, which is why we have selected the
all-new Radar Bullet, a wheel developed and tested specifically for roller derby by top derby athletes, as
the wheel for the Wicked.
She Devil
Boot: 126 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Triton Aluminum
Wheels: Radar Flat Outrageous Black
Bearings: KwiK Zenith (Available Fall 2012)
Toe Stop: PowerDyne Moonwalker Blood Red
Sizes: 3-13 Full & Half – B/AA + D/B
The She Devil is in a class of its own as an advanced beginner or intermediate derby skate. Our
Model 126 boot features the same hand-sorted full grain leather used on our top performance
boots but features an innovative split lining combination. The front lining in the toe and ball area
of the 126 is Cambrelle® material that holds its shape very well, even after the leather outers have
been broken in. For increased comfort, the rear lining in the heel and ankle area of the 126 is our
padded Dri-Lex™ lining. The She Devil grips on tons of different surfaces (because who skates on
the same surface all the time?) thanks to 88A Radar Flat Outrageous wheels while you’re rolling,
and natural rubber PowerDyne Moonwalker toe stops when you’re starting and stopping. Upgrade:
Get even more out of the She Devil by upgrading your plate to the PowerDyne Rival, Revenge or
Reactor (see p.11 for details).
Spark
Boot: 122 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Thrust Nylon
Wheels: R
adar Flat Outrageous Green
Bearings: KwiK ABEC-5
Toe Stop: PD Round Black
Sizes: 3-13 Full & Half – B/AA + D/B
There’s no substitute for experience, so when comparing the Spark to other skates, trust the 65+
years of boot-making expertise that goes into every USA made Model 122 boot used in the Spark.
Where other boots and skates are imported in mass quantities, every Model 122 is built one at a
time using hand-sorted premium materials that must pass our thorough inspection process before
being approved for use. To set the 122 apart even further from other skates, it comes stocked
in two different widths so that more skaters can experience what a performance fit feels like.
Completing the Spark skate are reinforced PowerDyne Thrust nylon plates, KwiK ABEC-5 bearings,
and grippy 88A Radar Flat Outrageous wheels that combine for a stable base that will help develop
your skills.

Vixen
Boot: 165 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Triton Aluminum
Wheezls: Radar Flat Out Royal Blue
Bearings: KwiK ABEC-5
Toe Stop: PD Round Black
Sizes: 4 – 13 Full Only – Medium
The Vixen is designed for reliable performance and high levels of comfort in a skate package that is
a bit more than a traditional “starter” skate. The 165 boot is made of leather outers for abrasion and
stress resistance but also has a soft-padded lining for a comfortable fit. The bottom of the Vixen is
built around the rigid response of the aluminum PowerDyne Triton plates that transfer your power
efficiently and without any flex. Grippy 88A Radar Flat Out wheels keep you firmly planted on the
track and the KwiK ABEC-5 bearings installed inside those wheels roll smoothly, quietly, and quickly.
The Vixen is a great skate for those who are just getting started in derby but who also want a skate
that will grow with them as they get better.
Rogue
Boot: 796 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Thrust Nylon
Wheels: Radar Flat Out Ice Blue
Bearings: KwiK ABEC-5
Toe Stop: PD Round Black
Sizes: 1-14 Full Only – Medium
Of all the parts that make up a skate, the boot is the only one that actually touches your foot.
With that in mind, we designed the 796 boot used in the Rogue skate out of all leather outers for
durability and a thinly padded lining that offers comfort, but also a fit that is close to the foot for
more performance. The base of the Rogue is a reinforced PowerDyne Thrust plate that flexes slightly
for a forgiving feel that builds confidence in newer skaters. An outstanding all-around wheel, the
Radar Flat Out, sits on the bottom of the Rogue. Its consistent grip works on several surface types
and its durability allows you to keep skating without having to worry about wearing out your
wheels too soon.
R3
/ Derby
Boot: R3 Black
Plate: PowerDyne Thrust Nylon
Wheels: Radar Flat Out Red
Bearings: KwiK ABEC-5
Toe Stop: Midi Gripper
Sizes: 1-14 Full Only – Medium
If you’re looking to get started in derby, there is no better option in the entry level class than the
R3 Derby. A favorite with skaters since it debuted, the R3 boot features class-leading build quality
– including a special grade of vinyl that is more durable than standard vinyl and a detailed boot
construction process that was developed from our decades of boot-making experience. Derby is a
demanding sport though, so to ready the R3 for derby use, we added black tough scuff leather toe
caps to prevent abrasion, reinforced PowerDyne Thrust nylon plates for a firm base, and 88A Radar Flat
Out wheels that grip on all kinds of surfaces. Upgrade: Take a look at PowerDyne Magic Cushions for
your plates – they’re inexpensive, easy to install, and they provide a very progressive and confidenceinspiring feel to your skates. They’re available in multiple hardnesses to suit your exact needs.

Boot Fitting Guidelines
Finding a pair of boots that fit properly can be very challenging – no two feet are exactly alike and every boot model has a distinct design that can
affect how it feels. To add to the confusion, most skate boot manufacturers, including us, have unique sizing that differ from street shoe sizing. For
our boots, the proper size for you will depend greatly on which last the boot is built on – which is why we want to share the information below with
you. Please note that this information is to be used as a reference only. We strongly recommend trying boots on before you purchase.

Reactor
The plate of choice for every Riedell Superstar, the 10 degree kingpin angle of the PowerDyne
Reactor offers explosive power – providing superior push and acceleration at the end of
every stride – while the high rebound urethane cushions make the Reactor responsive, agile,
and stable. The Reactor is constructed from extruded aircraft grade aluminum in an ultralightweight design for levels of strength and weight reduction not found anywhere else in its
class. Because performance cannot be compromised at all, only the finest parts are used to
complete the Reactor – including aluminum trucks with steel rod reinforced pivot arms, solid
aluminum black anodized kingpins, and durable Delrin pivot cups. The Reactor is the ultimate
combination of lightness, power, and response.

Revenge
The Revenge has been totally revamped to offer a combination of value, stability, and performance that cannot be matched. Alloy reinforcements have been added to the extruded plate
for increased strength and minimal weight gain while the steel rod reinforced truck has been
adjusted to a compact shape for more powerful response when pushing it to the limit. The
15 degree kingpin angle of the Revenge allows for quick turn-in and change of direction but
still gives you stability and acceleration when you need it most. Complete with all aluminum
components and high rebound urethane cushions, the PowerDyne Revenge is a thoroughly
modern plate designed for the advanced skater.
Rival
new
Powerful, durable, and responsive, the all-new Rival from PowerDyne has been engineered
from start to finish by skaters who know what a plate needs to perform. The Rival is built
from extruded aircraft aluminum with an exclusive solid support beam that offers unmatched
durability and rigidity for the Reactor-inspired platform. Every corner and angle of the
Rival has been analyzed, stress-tested, and refined to reduce weight, increase strength, and
improve feel. The attention to detail doesn’t stop there as the Rival comes with solid 7075
aluminum kingpins and high rebound urethane cushions for the instant response found in
plates that are twice the price of the Rival. Lighter and more powerful than any other plate in
its class, the Rival has no equal.

stopping surface offer more bite when stopping and starting. Every Moonwalker is
made from a non-marking natural rubber compound for outstanding durability and
consistency on every skating surface including wood, sport tiles, cement, and outdoor
surfaces (moon surface testing TBA…). Anodized lightweight aluminum stems are
used for each Moonwalker, creating a secure bond with the rubber while adding
increased strength, easier threading, and a distinctive blue-gray color to the stem.
Moonwalker toe stops join the PowerDyne lineup in 3 unique colors – Mint, Electric
Yellow, and Blood Red.
Magic Cushions
Unique to PowerDyne Magic Cushions is the Power
Assist™ formula for total performance. Made
from high quality urethane, Magic Cushions retain
energy and release it when you need it most. Just
like shocks on a car, Magic Cushions soak up the
imperfections of the surface, keep you connected
to the road ahead through enhanced feedback,
load up when pressed to the limit, and then release
your stored power in a forceful yet predictable
manner. Available in 4 hardnesses, they are the most
responsive cushions available for your skating skills.

Precision Swiss-Made alloy balls
Corrosion free Titanium Nitride coated races
Friction resistant Delrin® retainers
Pre-spun with high performance bearing lubricant
Utilizing precision Swiss-Made hardened chromium steel alloy balls and lightweight, friction resistant Delrin®
retainers, the races of the KwiK Swiss Nitride bearings – the surface where friction is created with the alloy
balls – are coated with a thin coating of Titanium Nitride, a durable chemical-resistant compound that will not
chip, dissolve, or otherwise degrade even during the most extreme skating conditions. The Titanium Nitride
coating finishes the races of the KwiK Swiss Nitride bearings in a beautiful metallic gold appearance and also
strengthens them to produce the fastest and longest roll available today.
KwiK Swiss Nitride bearings are pre-spun with a high performance bearing lubricant so they are ready to
use right away with no break-in period required. Occasional bearing cleaning and oiling is recommended to
ensure maximum performance. KwiK Swiss Nitride bearings offer open access to the balls and retainer, making
cleaning and oiling a much more simple process.

KwiK Zenith
KwiK ABEC-5
High polish chrome steel races, heat-treated alloy balls, and friction resistant
Delrin® retainers help the KwiK Zenith take bearing innovation to new heights. Built
and assembled with these premium parts in a clean room free of environmental
pollutants, KwiK Zenith bearings offer a continuously smooth and fast roll while
maintaining durability under the most extreme loads of roller skating. KwiK Zenith
bearings are pre-spun using a high performance oil, making them ready to use right
out of the box with no break-in period required.
KwiK ABEC-5 bearings are assembled using only the highest grade steel balls, chrome
steel races, and polished brass retainers to ensure precise tolerances that exceed
the stresses of skating. The races of KwiK ABEC-5 bearings feature a hyper-smooth
finishing process and the bearings themselves are lubricated with a high-speed oil.
Combined, the finishing process and oil dramatically reduce friction when skating,
which produces a quiet spin and also increases the maximum lateral load capacity of
the bearings. Occasional cleaning and oiling of your bearings is recommended.
KwiK Zenith bearings are designed to require minimum maintenance while
delivering maximum performance. Occasional cleaning and oiling of your bearings
is recommended. KwiK Zenith bearings offer open access to the balls and retainer,
making cleaning and oiling a much more simple process.

Bearing Press/Puller
Bearing Tool
KwiK Lube
Installing or replacing your bearings is a cinch with the
PowerDyne Bearing Press/Puller. A must-have item for
aluminum-hubbed wheels and those who are constantly
changing bearings.
A metal bearing tool designed to make installing and removing
bearings in nylon-hub or no-hub wheels a cinch. Because this
tool works by slightly bending the hub of the wheel during
installation and removal, it is not recommended for use with
metal or aluminum-hubbed wheels.
1/2 oz. bottle of light oil bearing lube to help keep
your bearings rolling smoothly.

Skate TLC
Investing in a pair of high performance roller skates is a big decision! Your skates will be on
your feet for several hours per week while you’re competing, exercising, or just casually going
for a roll. Every pair of Riedell skates is assembled with top quality materials that are not
only made to keep your skates comfortable and performing their best, they’re also made to last.
Proper care and maintenance of your skates can significantly expand their lifespan. The information below are some tips and tender loving care suggestions that we recommend to get the
most out of your skates for the longest amount of time.
Boots
Plates
Bearings
Wheels
• For our leather skating boots, we recommend
applying a high quality leather conditioner (we
use a brand called Lexol®) to the boots during
break-in to soften the leather and on occasion
throughout the life of the boot to keep them
soft and supple.
• It’s also very important that leather boots are
allowed to dry completely after each time you
skate. When you are done skating, store your
skates in a well ventilated area. Do not leave
them in your bag or the trunk of your car.
• Truck assemblies (truck, cushions, cushion
cups, and adjustment nut) should be checked
to make sure they are tightened securely. The
cushions need to flex to provide the action of
the plate but you don’t want any metal parts
rattling around.
• Kingpins should also be checked to make
sure they are completely tight in the plate.
Vibration and stress from skating places
pressure on the kingpin, which can, in rare
cases, cause them to loosen.
• Pivot cups are wear items and should be
inspected occasionally to make sure the pivot
arm of the truck sits securely in the pivot cup.
• Cushions also need to be replaced from time to
time. You will be able to notice a difference in
their response when they have worn out.
• Light race oil or bearing lubricant is what
keeps bearings spinning freely. As bearings
spin, that lubricant breaks down and needs to
be replenished. Loud (they will sound kind of
crunchy) or slow bearings are a sign that your
bearings need a shot of lubricant or oil. We
recommend applying a light layer of KwiK lube
to the retainer and balls of the bearing. KwiK
Swiss Nitride and KwiK Zenith bearings offer
open access to the retainer and bearing balls,
making oiling your bearings a much more
simple process.
• To keep the running surfaces clean of debris,
we recommend wiping your wheels with a
rag using water or water mixed with a small
amount of a mild soap (soap you use for
hand-washing dishes is good). If submerging
your wheels in water or a water/soap mix,
remove your bearings. Harsh chemicals
such as Acetone are not recommended for
cleaning wheels. They can be damaging to the
urethane. Dry your wheels off by wiping them
with a soft rag or towel.
