She will only wind up with a profit about a third of the time, which is not too surprising for any video poker game. All video poker games are volatile to some extent; therefore, you generally will lose roughly two thirds of your sessions for every one winning session. What if her local casino only offers 8/5 Jacks or Better. Now her chance of ruin increases and her chance of a profit decreases. That’s because she is being short-changed every time she gets a flush and full house on an 8/5 game. This will result in more losses (compared to 9/6 JOB) and a greater chance of ruin (and less chance of turning a profit). Bottom line: This is another reason why it’s always better to play the full pay schedules (like 9/6 JOB) instead of the short pay schedules (like 8/5 JOB). Double Double Bonus has a higher volatility; therefore, it’s not to surprising that her risk of losing the $100 bankroll increases compared to Jacks or Better. Generally, if you want to maintain the same risk of ruin with volatile video poker games, you’ll need more bankroll Note: JOB = Jacks or Better; DDB= Double Double Bonus; NSU=Not So Ugly; TDB=Triple Double Bonus Henry Tamburin, Ph.D., is the author of the Ultimate Guide to Blackjack (http://blog.888casino. com/casino-guides/blackjack), editor of the Blackjack Insider e-Newsletter (bjinsider.com), instructor for the Golden Touch Blackjack course and host of smartgaming.com. Scoblete, from Page Page 810 is no other way to make strategy decisions at the game. If you are unsure of the correct strategy just buy a plastic “basic strategy card” and refer to that as you play. If you are not a card counter then you want to play at full tables where the casino cuts out of play a large percentage of the cards. Next you want to play in games where a blackjack pays 3-to2; where you can double down on any first two cards; where you can split pairs and double down on those splits. I do recommend reading a good blackjack and I (of course) recommend my Beat Blackjack Now: The Easiest Way to Get the Edge. Craps: Ignore all the Crazy Crapper bets in the center of the table. Ignore multiple number bets such as the Horn, the Whirl and C&E. Also forget the Field, the Fire Bet and the hop bets. Only play the Pass Line and/ or Come Bets with the most you can afford in odds. Only make one or two of these bets. You might also want to employ the Captain’s 5-Count, a method that will reduce your betting on random rollers by 57 percent. Baccarat: Do not bet the Tie. Use the same method as described in roulette. When a Player or Bank shows then bet for or against that proposition next. There you have it. If you use the above strategies you will cut down on the number of decisions you face. You will also be playing relatively low house bets. When it did, it effectively cut travel time in half from I-55 to the casinos in Tunica. To mark the opening a decade ago, a collection of classic Studebakers lined up for a parade. They were the first cars to travel the section of highway. The cars were soon followed by a stream of newer cars and trucks that continues flow to this day as folks travel to and from the casinos on the quick link between Tunica and I-55. A ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorated the completion of the section, which is part of 32 sections of the Interstate 69 project. Interstate Highway 69 is a federal-aid highway project composed of a 1,650 mile-long stretch of national highway. Once completed, it will provide a continous route from the Michigan and Canadian border to the border of Texas and Mexico. There is more work currently taking place to extend I-69 east of I-55 with the Interstate 269 project. I-269 will begin at the I-55/I-69 intersection in Mississippi. Once completed, it will make it easier for people traveling in northwest Mississippi to go east to west and vice versa and speed up the trek to and from Highway 61 for a lot of travelers as it connects communities in several states - good news for casinos in the Mississippi Delta. The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), in a recent update, stated that construction of the Interstate 269 project continues and is on schedule in North Mississippi. The Interstate 269 project is the largest active MDOT construction project in the state, meaning it is sure to be at or near the top of the priority list. That said, dirt and bridge work for the entire Interstate 269 corridor has already been completed. The next phase of the project is made up of two separate paving projects, the largest of which has been let to contract, and work is underway. MDOT expects the interstate to open in the fall of 2018. “I-269 will be a valuable asset, providing a safer and more efficient way for commercial vehicles to move goods through the region,” MDOT Commissioner Mike Tagert said. “As growth continues in DeSoto and Marshall Counties, this new interstate will be vital in promoting economic growth and development in the region. The construction of I-269 will transform the region by connecting local communities in several states and will have far-reaching international implications.” The first section of Interstate 269, from Mississippi 302 to the Tennessee state line in Marshall County, opened to traffic on Oct. 23, 2015. The agency states that I-269 will be a 30-mile loop around Memphis through Mississippi and Tennessee upon completion. Quick link to Casino Strip Blvd. 14 JACKPOT! By Paul Wade HOROSCOPE Good time to focus on your appearance, Libra Editor’s Note: Horoscopes are meant for entertainment purposes only and are for the time period October 13 - October 26, 2016. Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) — Mercury has joined the Sun and Jupiter in your sign. This is a good time to focus on your appearance and on creating a good first impression. If you want to change your hairstyle, shop for clothes or visit the gym, you have permission of the cosmos to do so. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) — Venus is in your sign and helps you rectify minor wrongs and misunderstandings in an existing association. It also helps you reach out in a spirit of kindness and forgiveness to those you’d still like to feature in your life. This doesn’t come naturally as you believe lowering your guard conveys a message of weakness. Be kinder to yourself and others, too. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) — Putting Saturn aside, there’s no doubt you’re feeling tired, chastened and older. There’s no denying the maturing influence of this planet, which brings wisdom and knowledge. Think optimistically. Remind yourself that you’re closer to your goals. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) — Jupiter at the apex of your horoscope proves wondrous for your career concerns. You don’t take kindly to being told what to do, while your superiors need to gain your respect and demonstrate their capabilities. So the chances of you earning your living in idiosyncratic ways are high, while the idea of being your own boss, certainly has an appeal… Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) — This is a time for tackling major projects in seclusion: by yourself and away from public scrutiny. Mars is in an area of your horoscope linked with activities behind the scenes, giving you the energy to deal with more than even you could usually handle. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 19) — The stars suggest you’re better pooling your resources with a partner or associate, while remaining open to outside input where funding and your income are concerned. A big part of you is still concerned with personal independence and believes that you are selling out or backtracking. THE SOUTH’S LARGEST GUIDE TO GAMING & FUN • www.jackpotmagazine.com Aries (March 20-April 19) — The arrival of Mercury makes for three planets in your opposite sign. Those from different backgrounds, walks of life, cultures, age groups and parts of the world prove the most rewarding company. It is by being close to them, you can get a different slant on your own situation. Taurus (April 20-May 20) — Most born under your sign love eating and enjoy their food. Your taste could lie anywhere between the conventional and the gourmet, but your enthusiasm proves unsurpassed regardless. Resolve at this time to eat healthily. Gemini (May 21-June 20) — Concerns over joint resources can have a positive outcome eventually if you bite the bullet. This might be related to the household budget within a family or partnership scenario, or it could mean raising the necessary finance for a big purchase, like a new home, or to pull off an important business deal. Cancer (June 21-July 22) — In your home life, you’re enjoying a prosperous phase. You may move home within the next 12 months to somewhere more spacious and in a better area. Simulantiously, certain people seem determined to make life difficult for you. To pin down the culprit you don’t need to look far. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) — The pace of life heats up for you. There will be plenty to do at work, lots of people to talk to and places to go, running errands in your locality rather than further afield. Much of this proves extremely rewarding. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Your financial affairs are to the forefront. You’re aware some big expenses are lurking round the corner. You are most anxious about your domestic and family responsibilities, especially concerning somebody close you feel you owe a lot to.
