Tetanus/Diptheria
(Td) Shot Was?
Tetanus is a bacterial disease
that affects the nervous system
causing serious, painful spasms
of the muscles. The bacteria enter
the body through a cut or wound.
Tetanus can lead to “lock jaw”
making one unable to open the
mouth or swallow. Tetanus bacteria
are present worldwide and are
commonly found in soil, rust, dust
and manure. Tetanus cannot be
spread from person to person.
Diphtheria is a very contagious
disease that causes a thick coating
of phlegm in the nose, throat or
airway. It can lead to breathing
problems, heart failure, paralysis
and death.
Through immunization, the
United States has been able to
control the tetanus/diphtheria
disease count to under 50 cases
per year. Td vaccinations should
be updated every 10 years. It is a
very low risk vaccine. The most
common side effect from the shot
is a stiff arm.

adminstration fee. Appointments

What we know:
Osteoporosis is defined as porous bone due to low bone mass and
deterioration of bone tissue leading to potential bone fractures in
the hip, spine, and wrist.

men over the age of 60.
Preventive Steps:
Eat a healthy diet including a variety of foods
Take a calcium supplement (1,000 -1,500 mg/day adults)
 Intake of essential vitamin D (fortified foods and/or 15 minutes
of sunlight a day)
Do not smoke
Reduce alcohol intake
Plan an exercise regimen that includes weight-bearing exercise
Plan on a preventive osteoporosis screening
