FITNESS/SPORTS
ZUMBA
Zumba is a Latin-dance based fitness program. Benefits include
calorie burn, increases in aerobic threshold, stamina, increase
bone density, improved balance, and muscle tone, decreases in
body fat, and lower blood pressure and FUN. All ages welcome.
8 week session.
Tuesday
I 6:15-7:15 p.m. I $48/session, $8/walk-in I All Ages
EXERAUNTE-SNACK SIZE EXERCISE
15-minute fitness and conditioning classes that includes aerobic
cardio, interval cardio, strength, core, 5/5/5, old school PE,
stretch and yogalates. Take up to four classes to stack your
workout for the ultimate fitness meal!
Monday-Thursday I 5:30 p.m. (every 15-minutes) I $2/class
FITNESS ROOM
Cardio equipment includes treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stair
step machine. Weight training equipment includes half rack,
smith machine, functional trainer, circuit machines and
dumbbells from 5-100 lbs.
EXERCISE ROOM
You provide the workout videos; we provide the TV, DVD player
and a mirrored wall so you can check your form. Availability
varies.
PUBLIC COMPUTERS
There are four computers available for public use. Printing
services are unavailable. Free WiFi is available.

Staff will help you navigate Facebook, e-mail and Internet
searches.

Walking is a great way to stay fit; eighteen and one half laps
around the gym equals one mile.

Supervised cardio/weight room sessions focusing on muscle
development, strength and endurance. Participants will learn
proper lifting technique and muscle location for each exercise.

TAI CHI
An ancient Chinese discipline teaching harmony and inner
strength with elements of self-defense. 8 week sessions.

LIBRARY-TO-GO
Mid-Continent Public Library is available on site. DVDs and
music CD are available for check out. You and return and pick
up items here as well. All you need is a current MCPL card.
GUNG FU
An advanced form of Tai Chi which encompasses blocks, kicks
and self-defense moves while concentrating and isolating
muscles through an intensive workout.

PICKLEBALL
Played on a badminton court, with a lowered net, a perforated
plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and a paddles,
Pickleball is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a
quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

This is a co-ed recreational volleyball league, with round robin
play and rally point scoring.

HOME SCHOOL PE
Sessions are centered on sport specific skills. Basketball,
volleyball, racquet sports, football, kickball are included. In
addition to skill specific sessions we will play tag, dodge ball
and other large group games. Students will participate in
developmentally appropriate groups.

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL
Designed for younger players (6-10) to get experience playing
on a smaller court with a lower net and lighter ball. This is an
8-week introduction to volleyball with skill drills and playing time
on the court. Cost is $43/session.
SWIM LESSONS
Learning to swim is an important life skill. Kansas City North
community Center will provide transportation from the
community center to Tony Aguirre Community Center for swim
lessons. A minimum of six participants enrolled in swim lessons
is needed to provide transportation. Students must be signed
up on the same day(s). $2/ person, per trip

FUN AND GAMES
TODDLER TAKEOVER
“Free play” time that offers space to run and use those big
muscles. Gather your friends or play group and give toddler
takeover a try. A few play features are provided. You are welcome to bring your trikes and push toys. Parents must supervise their children.

FIFTH WEDNESDAY
For adults that like to play games and socialize. Activities will
be presented and the group will decide what the fun of the day
will be. From table games to adapted “gym” games fun is sure
to be had by all.

FAMILY FUN FOURTH FRIDAYS
Designed for families to play together. From dodge ball to table
tennis families will play with and against each other. Activities
will be modified to accommodate all ages.

CARDS, CARDS AND MORE CARDS
Join friends and neighbors playing pitch, pinochle, and other
card games.

POTTERY
Class consists of presenting pottery and sculpture techniques,
hand building and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Glazing techniques of your work will also be included. All level of students
are accepted. Students are expected to purchase their own clay
which can be purchased from the center. Limited studio glazes
will be provided and are included in the cost. If you want other
clays or glazes, you must purchase them yourself. This is an
instructional course; 8 week session.

POTTERY OPEN STUDIO
Pottery Open Studio is a non-instructional time to practice your
skills. You provide supplies. This includes use of the pottery
room only. Cost is $4/person for a two hour session.
CLUBS/GROUPS
Community Room (groups pay $1 per person to use the room)
T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) groups meet at 9am on
Tuesday and Thursday.
Fly Fishermen’s club meets the second Monday of the month.
Music Girls meet on Thursday evenings at 6pm. All women
musicians are welcome.
SPECIAL EVENT
HOLIDAY PARTY
FREE WIFI
Celebrate the holidays with entertainment and arts & crafts
projects. Parents must pre-register youth before the event.
