COMPANY PROFILE:
Attica Automation is a leading designer and manufacturer of vision
inspection and automation equipment
for multiple industries. Each machine
is designed and tested for specific
applications at the request of each
client. We pride ourselves in solving
the toughest inspection and sorting
problems that the average inspection
systems cannot handle. Our patented, unique approach to material
handling and custom optics allows
Attica Automation to surpass the
competition in not only speed and
accuracy, but also in the versatility
that is highly demanded in today’s
business environment. We do not
believe in a “one solution fits all”
approach to the inspection industry.
Our systems are engineered to
utilize the latest technology in
machine vision, laser and eddy current along with the right material
handling methods to provide the best
possible solution for your inspection and sorting needs. With several
styles of systems available, Attica
Automation is capable of being your
“one stop” provider for inspection,
sorting and automation equipment.
capable of 24 ton at 100 PPM with
a faster PPM count based on the
tonnage.
AV SERIES – AV stands for Attica
Vision. This cutting edge technology
uses high end computers and Patented
Lens Technology systems to inspect
any aspect of any product.
AV-B100 is a highly efficient vision
inspection machine that primarily
focuses on fasteners (screws, nuts,
bolts, and washers), but has been
designed to be customized to inspect
any product. This patented system is
Attica Automation’s most popular
design, and it is being used all over
the world in multiple industries.
INSPECTION SYSTEMS:
AM SERIES – This series of inspection systems incorporates inspection
without using our Attica Vision™
technology. These systems primarily
perform inspection with technologies
like Eddy Current and Laser Sensors.
These systems are also implemented
to manually create/inspect parts
based on the design needs. Each one
of these systems is built for custom
material depending on the specific
needs of the product.
AM-NL is an example of one of the
many AM series machines. It creates
nuts with a top locking feature, double
sided locking feature, and triple sided
locking features. This machine is
AV-D100 – This machine was built
off the AV-B100 platform as it also
uses the Attica Vision™ technology
for inspection. The largest difference
in the AV-D100 is a dial driven system
to handle the inspected parts. This
advantage allows you to inspect any
type of material whether ferrous and
non-ferrous (plastic, foam, metal,
glass, etc,). This machine can be used
to almost any material imaginable.
AV-D1000 – This model incorporates
Assembly in the inspection process
while continuing to use the rotary dial
parts handling method. It includes
many subsystems including a paint
dobber, spring pull test, pull length
test, and head station. This is one
great example of the versatility of
the AV series inspection equipment.
AV-R100 – This series of inspection
systems incorporates robots in the inspection process. With the increased
performance from robots, we are
able to tailor a system to virtually run
product and any part with this system.
PACKAGING & HANDLING:
Attica Automation also provides a
full Line of packaging conveyors,
palletizers, and bulk feeding systems
to add as an option to your machinery.
Whether you are looking for a simple
conveyor or a turn-key packaging
system, we have the product lines
available to meet your needs.

Q. What changes do you foresee in the engineered fastener industry?
A. Cliff Bernard - Any distributor in business has to face the
daily challenge of warehouse and inventory management.
This has always been the challenge to operating a successful
distribution business. Too much inventory ties up critical
operating capital and too little results in losing a customer
to the competition. As we move into the next few years,
our industry is going to become more and more transparent
and competition will become
more intense. Distributors will
need to leverage inventories
that are not located in their
proprietary warehouses. They
will need to leverage partner
warehouse inventories and or
virtual inventories to reduce
costs and remain competitive
in the preservation of their
customer base.
I believe that Bay Supply
Net will be a vital partner
to distributors by providing
more products and services to
help them serve their customers while freeing capital for
strategic growth initiatives. If
their customer calls for an item
they don’t stock and it’s readily
available in our warehouse to
ship, there is no reason that that
distributor should lose that sale to a competitor.
Q. What is Bay Supply Net and what makes it unique?
A. Bernard - Bay Supply Net is the world’s largest online
engineered fastening warehouse, offering real-time inventory
and blind shipping services for wholesale industrial distributors worldwide.
Michael Eichinger - And it’s unique because we have established a global network of engineered fastener product manufacturers including top brand names that are of the highest
industry demand. These manufacturers feed our warehouse to
100
Fastener Technology International/August 2014
serve the wholesale distribution marketplace with real-time
inventory and blind drop shipping services. Bay Supply Net
is the first electronic warehousing marketplace to serve the
wholesale distributors with complete order management processing and tracking for their customer service staff. On top
of that, there is the added benefit of same day free domestic
shipping on orders received by 3:00PM EST and instant
international shipping upon checkout
The Bay Supply Net portal also provides “Distributor Friendly” tools to help manage,
track and process orders. For
example, the system maintains
a ship-to-address book and a
customer re-order list so distributors can quickly process
repeat orders.
In addition, the system accepts
future delivery dates and back
order items with expediting
dates and communications.
Tracking numbers, order information, order history and
accounting are instantly available for multiple users at each
distributor’s operation.
Q. Have centralized supply
chains changed the industry?
A. Bernard - Centralized supply chains have yet to change
the industrial supply industry.
It is inevitable that the Internet will play a vital role in this
transformation. It is also clear that manufacturers will need to
welcome technology and the new business models that emerge
from this new transformation of their industry. Distributors
will need to re-invent the way they conduct business. The
opportunity exists for distributors to capitalize on centralized
supply chains like Bay Supply Net by exponentially increasing
their product offerings and enhancing their services to their
customers with no capital investment of any kind. What better
way is there to hedge the market position of your business
for the future?
Q. What makes this the right time to unveil Bay Supply Net?
A. Eichinger - At a time when new technologies within this
electronic age have reengineered nearly every industry and
the way business is transacted, the industrial supply chain
distribution processes of today is inefficient, costly, and time
consuming. Manufacturers continue to reduce inventories
while projecting the financial burden onto their distributors.
Customers want speed and efficiency in product procurement
and distributors must meet these challenges in an increasingly
competitive marketplace.
Distributors need speed and efficiency to better serve their
customers. Most importantly, distributors need greater access
to inventory and pricing to serve the immediate needs of their
customer or someone else will.
Bay Supply Net eliminates the capital requirement for
distributors to increase their inventories. A distributor can
place their staff in control of millions of dollars in real-time
inventory; gain instant access to top brands their customers
want; eliminate the need for fax and email quote requests; and
access instant and competitive pricing along with free blind
drop shipping and discount international shipping services.
This service transforms their business overnight by establishing a powerful online tool for their staff to better serve their
customers and increase their sales and bottom line. Did I
mention the service is free?
Q. Is there a region or marketplace that Bay hopes to reach
that it might not have been able to reach before?
A. Bernard - International shipping has been one of the greatest challenges for our industry. We are excited to introduce
a cost effective international shipping program that provides
instant pricing and processing upon checkout with identical
ease of a domestic ship-to address. We believe this will help
our distributors to rapidly increase their global sales and introduce some highly desirable brands to many untapped markets.
Q. What has been the greatest challenge with the introduction of Bay Supply Net?
offerings, and to gather the necessary product specifications
to effectively bring those products to the distribution marketplace online.
Q. What is the importance of blind shipping?
A. Bernard - Bay Supply Net is a “Supply Net” for distributors
to better serve their customers. We must remain as an invisible
partner to our distributors. We serve them as an invaluable
resource for product procurement and as a logistics service.
This is done by blind drop shipping every order.
Our service can only be valuable to a distributor if it improves
his or her customer’s perception of his or her service and
business. We only exist to make other businesses look better
and operate more efficiently. This can only happen if we are
invisible in the process to the end user. This is why blind drop
shipping is critical to our success.
Q. What does it cost a distributor to
be a part of Bay Supply Net?
A. Bernard - Our service is free. Distributors receive a complete service, technical support staff, a warehouse full of top
brand inventories, free shipping services to domestic customers, and quantity discount wholesale pricing free of charge.
Q. How quickly can a distributor see results from joining?
A. Bernard - The results are instant! Once a distributor signs
into his or her account, they have instant access to inventory,
pricing and order management. They can begin processing
orders in minutes.
Q. How can distributors sign up for an account?
A. Eichinger - All that a distributor needs to do is to call
1-800-718-8818, email info@baysupplynet.com, or visit
our website at www.baysupplynet.com to complete an online application. Once approved, each distributor receives a
login and password for their account with immediate access
to inventory. It’s that simple.
A. Eichinger - I think the greatest challenge we face is the
ability to electronically introduce new products and inventory
to our wholesale distributors online as fast as they are being
delivered and introduced to our warehouse. We currently have
hundreds of engineered fastening product manufacturers and
other industrial supply manufacturers submitting products and
inventories to integrate and offer to our distributors. While
we are thrilled to have such a reception by our industry, it
is a challenge to carefully investigate each manufacturer,
select the appropriate products to integrate in our inventory

Beneke Wire Company started
producing small orders of extremely high-quality aluminum
wire. Great attention was paid to
the alloy, the finish and the rigid
tolerances. More importantly,
the company worked to produce
wire that would improve their
customers’ production process.
By creating the right treatment
or finish, Beneke Wire customers
could possibly eliminate certain
steps in their manufacturing,
thus making a better end product at reduced production costs.
This “partnership” between the
Beneke engineering staff and
the customer is a key ingredient to the success of the entire
operation.

Michael and Steve Beneke have
been named co-chairmen of the
board of directors, assuring continuity within the company for
years to come. They also continue
in their current management capacity. The same core values established by Chuck Beneke over
46 years ago have been passed
on to this successful team of
company management.

MISSION STATMENT:
We are committed to manufacturing high
quality, affordable and user friendly cold
and warm heading equipment. Our mission
is to provide state of the art, easy to use machinery for the production of simple as well
as complex parts. We have made a point of
continuing the company founder’s tradition
of providing high productivity, reliable, affordable and long-lasting equipment.
COMPANY HISTORY:
His father was Italian, but he was born in
New York in 1907 and returned to Italy with
his family when he was 8 years old. His father
served in the Italian Army during World War
1. He started his own Company in 1939 with
the purpose of building mechanical descalers
to process hot rolled rod. A few thousands of
these machines have been sold all over the
world. Although these machines were successful, Carlo Salvi’s aim was to manufacture
new and more complex machines. His new
adventure began in the late 40’s with the design and production of a flat die thread roller,
machines that have established immediately
for good quality and affordable price.
Very soon this was followed by a family of
head slotters and finally, in 1952, he built
his first single die two blow toggle header.
The success was immediate. The machine
was reliable, low-priced and high speed.
In the early 70’s a complete new line of
single-die high speed models was designed
for the production of semi-tubular and fully
tubular rivets. These machines literally revolutionized the market. In fact Carlo Salvi
machines allow to produce up to 660 parts
per minute with very low production costs.
In the early 80’s, Carlo Salvi developed
a new machine range of 2-die 4-blow and
progressive headers, up to six stations.
During the 90’s, Carlo Salvi continued
investing in the development of new machines in order to build cold headers with
innovative electronic systems designed to
provide the highest levels of performance
output. Presently, Carlo Salvi is offering
a complete range of cold headers up to 6
stations, capable of handling wire from 0,6
to 24 mm in diameter, and with the ability
to process materials such as stainless steel,
titanium and special alloys in combination
with induction pre-heating.
MANUFACTURING PROGRAM:
1-die 2-blow headers
This kind of headers allows to head up to
six diameters of material and offers the possibility to produce components with quite
complex shapes. Their main features are the
high speed and precision to head screws,
semi tubular rivets even with a shouldered
shank and tubular rivets, granting a remark-
Single die double blow
header model CS 005
able tool life and an easy manintenance.
2-die 4-blow headers
These headers allow to obtain components
with complex shapes which cannot easily
produced on multi station machines, where
it is necessary to transfer the part several
times, because the shank is very short or the
head too big. The components which can
be obtained are screws, shaped semi tubular
rivets and tubular rivets with large head.
Progressive headers
The progressive headers allow to produce
with high precision special parts with very
complex shapes, which are used in various
fields of the market and particularly in the
automotive and in the aerospace industries
With thousands of machines sold all over the
world, Carlo Salvi has become a leading supplier of machines for the fasteners industry.
Our technicians are always developing
innovative solutions in response to the
growing needs of the market.
Every years Carlo Salvi invests on studying
new and innovative application to support
the demands of most exigent customers.
Since 2012 Carlo Salvi is investing in men
and equipment to rebuild machines by its
own but even by customer’s facilities. This
new service is gathering a big success and
interest and, thanks to the same, Carlo Salvi
is now ready to offer completely refurbished
machine, on which have been substituted
all the mechanical parts and the electrical,
pneumatic and hydraulic systems. These
machines can be certified according to the
actual norms and warranted for 1 year
Please contact the Office in Garlate, to

of the ENKOTEC rotary nail machine
was a revolution within the nail industry,
as the machine was totally different from
the conventional nail manufacturing
machines known since the turn of the
19th century. The nail machine quickly
became a Danish export success and today
ENKOTEC machines are running in nail
factories located all over the world.
At our headquarter address in Denmark
we undertake the development, production and sale of machines and tooling for

MISSION STATEMENT:
ENKOTEC is a leading global supplier
of machinery for the manufacture of
mass-produced nails as well as customized solutions. We create innovative and
productive solutions for our customers.
PRODUCT LINES:
ENKOTEC nail machines are unique
by being based on a rotary forming
principle, allowing wire feeding, wire
cutting and head forming to take place
in one continuous process of rotating
movements. The ENKOTEC technology
makes it possible to produce high-quality
nails at an unprecedented speed, without
110
compromising production stability, while
requiring less space and fewer operators
and offering the possibility of unmanned
production. At the same time, this machine concept allows to implement an
environment friendly production with
a low noise level, small energy consumption and an oil-free manufacturing
process, eliminating the need for subsequent nail tumbling. Over the years,
ENKOTEC has made continuous design
and material improvements on the nail
machine, thus meeting customer requirements for increased cost-efficiency and
user-friendliness. ENKOTEC’s product
program includes various complementary
machines supplied as standalone units
or in-line systems. ENKOTEC’s in-line
nail manufacturing solutions, featuring
a balanced combination of well-proven
systems and modern technology, prove
our wish to constantly put our customers
ahead of competition.
ENKOTEC’s present high-capacity nail
machines, the ENKOnail+ series, are
designed according to a modular principle with a basic machine and several
machine variants. The machines are
producing up to 2,500 nails per minute,
and it is possible to cover nail lengths
from 28 up to as much as 130 mm (1.1"
to 5 1/8”) and wire diameters from
ø1.8 to ø4.2 mm (.071" to .165"). The
ENKOnail+ machines come with a PLC
control system and touch screen operator
interface, which is easy to navigate and
allows quick setup of nail parameters.
The ENKOnail models, intended for
small and midsize capacity needs, produce up to 1,000 nails per minute at ø2.34.2mm (.090” to .165”) and nail lengths
50-103 mm (2” to 4”). The ENKOnail
machines feature simple adjustments,
quick tooling changeovers, easy access
for cleaning and service, and long tooling
life among other advantages. Combined
with our high-end ENKOnail+ series,
the ENKOnail models allow us to offer a complete range of high-speed nail
machines, where many tooling parts are
common for all machine models, thus
increasing their cost effectiveness.
The ENKOroll thread rolling machine
has been designed for making screw shank
or annular nail profiles with a production
speed of up to 2,500 nails per minute. The
Fastener Technology International/August 2014
working area of the ENKOroll is ø1.8 4.2 mm (0.071" to 0.165") x 32 - 105 mm
(1¼" to 4") nail length with a profile height
of 27 - 76 mm (1.06" to 3.00"). Apart from
the high speed, the ENKOroll machine
incorporates numerous advantages such
as high-quality output, high stability, quick tooling changeovers, simple
adjustments, and low noise level. The
machine is capable of running in-line in a
nail manufacturing line or as a standalone
machine.
ENKOTEC’s product range also includes
the ENKOpack, which is a movable
stand-alone packaging machine. The
system offers the possibility of in-line nail
production in a complete, automated nail
manufacturing process. The ENKOpack
automatically feeds the nail cartons, fills
them with the accurate number of nails,
and transports the nail cartons via automatic drive belt conveyors. All of this can be
done in-line with a standard ENKOTEC
nail machine or thread rolling machine.
ENKOTEC has exclusive rights to
worldwide sale and service of the wire
coil ENKOllator, type CWC01, with
packaging machine, type PCC01,
both engineered and built by German
BAUSSMANN. Using automatic cutter
and coiling units, the wire coil collator
can produce bright and electro galvanized
wire welded coil nails with smooth shank,
ring shank, screw shank and spiral shank.
COMPANY PHILOSOPHY:
Our company philosophy includes an
extensive service concept based on partnership. Thus, ENKOTEC provides our
customers with an efficient after-sales
system including quick supplies of spare
parts, technical support at all levels and
customized training programs. Through
frequent sales visits and preventive service,
we stay in close contact with our customers,
allowing us to be continually updated on
the nail producers’ requirements and the
development of the market, so that R&D
projects can be adjusted accordingly.
Managing Director, Bent Just Petersen
concludes: “ENKOTEC is determined to
stay focused on the nail industry, as we have
done for more than 30 years. We strive to be
at the cutting edge of technology so that we
can make our customers competitive. More
than ever, we want to be the No. 1 brand
within nail manufacturing.”

Since The Creation
The Most Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel Self Drilling Screw
John Chen Screw Industry Co. Ltd.
Product Without Surface Coating Withstands
3,500~15,000 Hour Salt Spray Test and 35~70 Kesternich (Acid Rain Test).
Innovative stainless steel material
screw that surpasses this century’s
highest corrosion-resistant stainless
steel screw and excels in drilling
performance.
Traditional stainless steel (Abbr.: S.S.)
screws have many drawbacks:
1) A2~A4 (the #300 Series) S.S. products have good corrosion resistance
and shiny/reflective surface appearance; however, the biggest drawback
is the lack of hardness.
2) S.S. #410, #420, #430F, #440 products achieve higher hardness through
heat treatment, however, they are
poor in corrosion resistance. These
products have imperfect/dull outer
appearance.
3) S.S. #630 (17-4) is a material which
has both high corrosion-resistance and
high hardness; however, this material
cannot cold-form and is very difficult
to work with. S.S. #630 is only suitable for hot-forming and machining.
S.S. #630 production cost is very high;
due to these reasons S.S. #630 is not
normally used in screw production.
The MOST PERFECT Stainless
Steel NSSC #550 (JOHN TEK)
screw encompasses super corrosionresistance, high surface hardness
(HV 618°~648°) and brilliant surface
appearance (as good as S.S. A2~A4).
The new NSSC #550 is a difficult
material to cold-form and to work;
originally, this material is poor in corrosion-resistance. John Chen Screw
dedicated sixteen and a half years, and
invested over 2.5 million US Dollars
in research and development solely to
discover and fine-tune the know-how
to work with NSSC #550.
After years of relentless hard work
and improvements, John Chen solved
NSSC #550 production bottleneck
and achieved perfect corrosionresistance performance. NSSC #550
screws are now in mass production.
NSSC #550 screw gained an excellent reputation in the TEK (selfdrilling screw) market in terms of
screw performance, time-saving,
easy-to-use and reliability. NSSC
#550 screws are gradually replacing Bi-Metal screws and S.S #410
screws in the market.
Serious setbacks with Bi-Metal screws
in the market are:
1) Insufficient for drilling through
stainless steel sheets.
2) Unable to drill through 10mm thick
(or above) steel sheet.
3) 4~8% breakage/failure rate while
drilling due to poor weld spot, hence increases in screw cost and labor-time cost.
4) Bi-Metal screw corrosion resistance
is only at 1/8th of NSSC #550 screws.
5) Bi-Metal screw tensile and torque
strength is only at approximately 45%
of NSSC #550 screws.
6)Small size or short length Bi-Metal
screws cannot be produced. This limits
Bi-Metal screw applications.
In summary, NSSC #550 (JOHN
TEK) screw price and application/
construction-labor cost are much
lower than Bi-Metal screws and NSSC
#550 (JOHN TEK) screw will not fail
during application.
John Chen Screw has developed more
than NSSC #550 self-drilling screws
and self-tapping screws; NSSC #550
is also used in a whole variety of customized screw products.
Please feel free to call us or drop us
an email. We welcome your inquires.

COMPANY PROFILE:
Rotor Clip is a global manufacturer
of retaining rings, spiral rings, wave
springs and self-compensating hose
clamps. Headquartered in Somerset,
NJ, Rotor Clip also has operations in
Sheffield, England, Idstein, Germany,
The Czech Republic, and Shanghai,
China - providing worldwide service
to its customers.
The Somerset, USA facility occupies
280,000 square feet on 24 acres. All
processes are conducted in house ensuring the quality and reliability of the
products produced. These processes
include engineering, which designs the
tooling required to produce retaining
rings, tool and die making, stamping
and wire forming, heat treating, postfinishing, packaging, warehousing and
shipping.
PRODUCT LINE:
Rotor Clip is the only manufacturer
in the world offering all three major
types of retaining rings: tapered, constant section and spiral. These are made
to inch, DIN, ANSI metric and JIS
standards in carbon steel, stainless steel
and beryllium copper.
Unlike other companies we don’t
claim one retaining ring is better than
another. Rather, it’s about your application and what you need to make it work.
With the help of Rotor Clip engineers,
you’ll find the one retaining ring that
works best for you, rather than the one
that’s best for us to sell you.
Rotor Clip military retaining rings
are also available, manufactured to
military specifications under Cage
Code 07382.
Stainless steel parts for military
need to be made from PH15-7 stainless
material, which Rotor Clip can provide.
This material is not readily available in
Europe and the Pacific Rim, limiting
the ability of other sources to provide
certified rings to their customers.
MS parts made from High Carbon
Spring Steel are also available; manufactured domestically, and processed
from Rotor Clip’s extensive catalog
of tooled parts. Finishes include: Cadmium; Zinc Dichromate, and Phosphate.
Stainless steel and beryllium copper
parts have been certified as domestically melted by raw material suppliers
for purposes of DFARS 252.225-7014,
“Preference for domestic specialty metals.” Certifications are provided Free
of Charge.
Rotor Clip also offers single turn,
multi turn, and nested wave springs. A
wave spring is made from coiled flat
wire with waves added to give it a spring
effect. Wave springs are superior to coil
springs in certain applications because
they provide lower work heights with
the same force. This not only provides
for space savings, but also smaller assemblies that use less materials, hence
lower production costs.
THE GREEN FASTENER:
Using Rotor Clip retaining rings in
place of threaded fasteners where appropriate reduces scrap and hazardous waste
caused by machining shoulders and use
of excess cutting fluids. Our wave springs
provide lower work heights than coil
springs with the same force – resulting in
smaller assemblies that use less material.
Rotor Clip products can be produced to
meet the requirements of the RoHS and
ELV directives.
QUALITY:
Rotor Clip is dedicated to providing customers with a part that exceeds
standard specifications. This includes
providing documentation showing
critical quality, material & heat treating specs, as well as lot traceability
and country of origin. Rotor Clip is
certified to ISO/TS 16949, ISO 9001
and AS9100.
SERVICE:
Rotor Clip is not just a manufacturing facility. It is a support center for
customers from the moment of contact.
Whether it’s placing an order, needing
design assistance, or finding the right
part, Rotor Clip is there to help throughout the business relationship.
The Rotor Express program provides
customers with small package quantities
of retaining rings that would otherwise be
too costly to process from Rotor Clip’s
facility. Through a series of partnerships
throughout the country, customers can
purchase low-volumes of product at
extremely competitive prices.

SACMA S-FORGING, MOST
ADVANCED COLD & WARM FORMERS:
Sacma Limbiate Spa is confirmed as the
most advanced and competitive company
worldwide in designing and manufacturing
cold and warm headers. The Sacma R&D
Department enables the Group to supply innovative solutions to the fastener and special
parts industries.
Sacma designs and manufactures its products all in-house. Once completed the R&D
part, its factories take care by themselves of
the production of the components. Sacma is
the only one manufacturer in this field having
100% of the spare parts immediately available
for the customers.
Moreover Sacma Group is the best solution because of its complete machine range
and powerful structure, able to guarantee the
co-operation as well with the bigger fastener
manufacturers as with the medium and small
companies.
For the production of Net Shape special
parts, Sacma introduces the new release of
its 6 dies progressive headers inspired by the
S-Forging concept. The new touch screen
panel SC-Matic is facilitating the tool set up,
taking under control the process through the
machine supervision and management. Sacma
can guarantee the quality of the produced parts
using the new LoadMatic, by monitoring the
loads and driving the discharging device for
the n.c. parts with the transfer fingers or a gate
before the finished parts conveyor.
The Sacma Transfer System with its 7
strategies of transferring, consolidates its
position of excellence, for its capacity to handle
the wider range of parts, starting from shortest
to the extra-long ones, at maximum production speed. The introduction of the patented
Transfer Support Assist Package extends
the transferring performance to more difficult
tapered and stepped parts. The Timed Desmodrive cams allows the transfer of the most
difficult parts adjusting the timing of departure
of the transfer rack after each forging operation.
With the S-Forging concept, Sacma offers
a revolutionary wire feeder: the S-Feed Sys-
tem. This unique and patented system allows
to feed the header in the most precise and
simplest way available today. The patented
S-Feed System by means of one or two servomotors according the machine size, allows to
engage the wire while the machine is stopped
and also to pull back the wire automatically
without any manual operation. With this new
device, the operator has only to set-up the
length of the blank on the SC-Matic Touch
Screen Panel Control and the machine takes
care about the over or lower wire feeding.
Another strategical point is the possibility to
use the S-Feed in alternate blow mode to
reduce the machine load.
The S-Feed System is supplied on the
warm formers as a standard feature to feed the
machine automatically and to pull back the wire
when the machine stops in order to take back
the wire from the induction coils. The S-Feed
is also available as option for the progressive
cold formers.
The Warm Formers are the best answer
to the customer’s request in this field, where
Sacma found the optimal solutions to realize
an absolutely user friendly machine. This
header is providing the automatic wire introduction through the induction coil and ensures
its pull back whenever the machine stops.
Using the touch screen panel, the operator
can manage the process by changing directly
the parameters of the heating system, as the
temperature, length of blank and the production speed. Consequently, the machine drives
all modules automatically.
Respecting the Environment, the Drive
Unit, consisting of a flywheel with the
clutch-brake integrated into the enclosure
together with the new generation of Inverters, allows energy recycling and reduces
energy consumption, making the machines
Eco-Friendly.
The Sacma S-Forging is the result of a
concentration of best technologies applied
to cold and warm formers to create the most
precise and reliable machines available.

only one manufacturer in this field having 100%
of the spare parts immediately available for the
customers. Moreover Ingramatic is the best
solution also because of its complete machine
range and powerful structure, able to guarantee
the co-operation as well with the bigger fastener
manufacturers as with the medium and small
companies.
The adjustment and set up of the machine
is achieved through the remote Electronic
Handwheel, eliminating the use of hand tools.
This device provides the operator precise control of the height position and the width of the
rails, the die match with the adjustable position
of the drive unit, and the set-up of the double
starter unit. Thanks to this solution, set-ups
can be made in less than 2 minutes using the
touchscreen panel!
The New Introduction System (patented)
of the single or double starter unit is activated
by servomotors utilizing high precision pinionrack units to control the movement of the starter
slides.
The “M-Group” provides the motorization
of the drive unit and slide body position for quick
and accurate control of the die match.
The New Frame with the High Pressure
hydrostatic Lubrication of the slide makes the
I-Thread the most precise and reliable machine
for high tensile parts.
The new QTC Washer Assembly Unit
is now available for the most exigent users;

in order to save time during the production
changeover. This QTC Washer Assembly
Unit allow to the operator to set up the tools
in the tool room and to save time on board of
the machine.
Respecting the Environment, the New
Drive Unit, consisting of a planetary gearbox
integrated inside the flywheel together with
the clutch-brake, allows energy recycling and
reduces energy consumption, making the machines Eco-Friendly.
The Ingramatic I-Thread is the result of
a concentration of best technologies applied
to thread rolling to create the most precise
and reliable machines available. www.sacmagroup.com

COMPANY PROFILE:
Scientific Forming Technologies Corporation (SFTC) was founded in 1991
with a mission to provide state-of-the-art
design and analysis technology to the
metal forming industry. SFTC develops,
markets and supports the DEFORM™
System, which is used at hundreds of
sites world-wide.
The SFTC staff has extensive experience
in developing FEM (Finite Element
Method) software to analyze metal
forming processes. SFTC principals
developed ALPID and DEFORM during
the 1980’s while at Battelle Memorial
Institute. ALPID is known as the first
practical FEM-based analysis tool with
an industrial user base. ALPID was
followed by DEFORM, which SFTC
acquired from Battelle in 1991.
PRODUCT:
DEFORM is an engineering software
system used to analyze metal manufacturing processes including forming, heat
treatment, machining and mechanical
joining. It provides a virtual trial run
environment that allows testing on the
computer rather than the shop floor. It
has been used to solve metal forming
problems, optimize production processes and improve tool and die life in
countless industrial cases.
DEFORM is the most widely used bulk
forming process simulation system
in the world. It serves the aerospace,
automotive, transportation, energy,
medical, fastener and ordinance industries. Hundreds of companies, ranging
from large multi-national corporations
to small family-owned businesses, rely
on DEFORM throughout the design, development and manufacturing process.
Noteworthy technical and commercial
milestones started with the introduction
of DEFORM-2D, the first code with
fully automatic remeshing, in 1989.
DEFORM-PC, released in 1994, was the
first metal forming simulation software
running on WINDOWS. This made
it feasible for small-to-medium sized
manufacturers to use simulation. Within
a few years, DEFORM-3D, running
on WINDOWS, with fully automatic
remeshing made simulation practical
for most forming processes.
Heat treatment and grain size material
modeling was developed more than
15 years ago, before it became trendy.
Design Of Experiments (DOE) and optimization of the entire process has been
under development for years.
The release of DEFORM V11 in 2014
represented a new milestone in process
simulation technology. Considered the
“next generation” of DEFORM, V11 is a
quantum leap in functionality, resulting
from years of research and development. It includes an integrated multiple
operation environment that has allowed
DOE, optimization and advanced material modeling tools to become a reality.
EXPERIENCE:
The SFTC staff has over 5 decades of
experience in industry. The result is
a first-hand understanding of the issues faced by users. This experience
contributes to practical DEFORM developments and unparalleled technical
support. The DEFORM team is highly
focused on contributing to the success
of every DEFORM user.
SFTC is known and respected in academia, government and industry. The
vast majority of the development staff
holds a PhD or Master’s degree from
leading universities. SFTC is a regular
participant in sophisticated research
projects. Staff members are also regular
contributors to technical conferences,
journals and educational workshops.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS:
SFTC has been the leader in process
simulation for decades. The company
has maintained that position by being
first to the market with new capabilities.
Today, SFTC is the undisputed leader
in DOE, optimization and material

COMPANY HISTORY:
Welcome to Advanced Poly-Packaging! Our
company was founded in 1979 by Tony Baker
and remains family-owned. Headquartered in
Akron, OH, Advanced Poly-Packaging has a
satellite office in England; inside and outside
sales professionals; and distributors in the
United States, United Kingdom, Canada and
Denmark. All of our products are made in
the USA.
Buying a machine off a shelf is rarely the answer. Packagers know that it takes ingenuity
and patience to engineer the right solution.
In fact, most of the solutions we provide
involve a degree of customization to match
your application.
PRODUCT LINES:
What do you bag? Washers, cotter pins or
wheel nuts? How about machine screws, rivets
or lock nuts? Anchors, flange bolts or drywall
nails? Those represent only a fraction of the
fastener products that are being packaged in
Advanced Poly-Bags™ with the company’s
bagging machines.
Our line of tabletop baggers prove that size
really does not matter. These machines are
loaded with features, including a built-in inline
thermal transfer printer on the T-375, featuring
“Next Bag Out” technology that virtually eliminates mislabeled bags. The tabletop models
are usually best for smaller quantities. Larger
amounts may require a production bagger, such
as the T-1000 Advanced Poly-Bagger™. The
T-1000 is fast, versatile, rugged and cost effective. It can be the central component of a kit
packaging system, for example. Some fastener
manufacturers need one of our vibratory parts
counters, a net-weigh scale or a check-weigh
scale (we recently developed one system that
contains all three!) in addition to infeed or
takeaway conveyors.
Custom bags are our specialty: Printed or
non-printed; special features such as vent, hang
or pin holes; headers; perforations, etc. We
also have dozens of stock sizes of Advanced
Poly-Bags™, ready for shipment almost
immediately. Many fastener packagers are
interested in some of our specialty films for bag
production, including high strength, tinted and
100% degradable. Advanced Poly-Packaging
also offers blanket pricing to enjoy locked in
pricing and a flexible shipping schedule to they
never run out of bags.

to several types of customers all over the national territory and from different technologies of commerce.
The guiding concept in this activity is the reaching
of the highest efficiency level in order to grant to the
customer rapid and efficient service and supply of
metallic small parts.
A modern warehouse organization supported by specific software and based on radio frequency systems,
the transport network and a team of persons dedicated
to customer care, make of Berardi Bullonerie a reliable and precious partner.
COMPANY HISTORY:
Berardi Bullonerie is a company that is a distributor
of screws, bolts and fasteners. It distinguishes itself
for the elevated quality of the service offered to its
customers. This activity started in 1919 with a small
shop located in Piazza Maggiore (square) in Bologna.
In 1960 the shop became a distributor company and
moved its own activity into a large fully equipped
warehouse.
In 1984, it moved to a 4500 m2 warehouse, from
which it stocked approximately 15 thousand items.
This was the year that marked Berardi’s growth,
becoming one of the largest Italian distribution
companies of bolts and nuts.
136
In January 2003, Berardi Bullonerie moved to its
current facility in Castel Guelfo, which includes a
half-automatic warehouse of 6200 spm, 35,000 items
present in stock (70,000 items registered) and more
than 400,000 lines/year dispatched.
ORGANIZATION:
The competence of the company’s employees and the
logistic organization drive the added value offered to
customers by Berardi Bullonerie.
To reach important goals such as the quality of
the products, the characterization of the offer, the
lowering of the logistic chain costs, technical innovation, flexibility and timeliness of replies, Berardi
Bullonerie can count on an important organization:
The company maintains 11 branches, each with a
warehouse containing thousands of items in stock,
on the whole national territory and computationally
linked with the headquarters in real time.
A group o 45 external commercial cooperators all
over Italy assists customers during and after sales. A
team of 15 internal persons provides customer care.
A technical staff composed of five people is available
to customers for dealing with all technical matters.
A purchasing department composed of four people
uses modern techniques of marketing and purchasing
to ensure efficiency in the choice and qualification of
suppliers and in the planning of the turnover of the
items in stock, in terms of quality/price.
A quality assurance office supports the purchasing
department in qualifying suppliers to ensure that
the product in stock conforms to what is requested.
PRODUCTS:
Berardi Bullonerie Srl provides its customers with
a broad variety of special fastener products includ-
Fastener Technology International/August 2014
ing screws, bolts, washers, spacers retainers and
other items. These special products are manufactured
based on customer drawings.
Berardi Bullonerie Srl also offers a variety of security
fasteners and captive screws.
Another strong point is the cooperation agreements
Berardi has undertaken over the past 3 years, with
production companies, each of which is a leader in
its field, Lee Spring, which Berardi is only authorized dealer for Italy and other European and North
Africa countries , for the springs; Clamp for cable;
Nordlock for washers and lock nuts; Stater for
knobs and flyers and Miselli for what concerns the
hydraulic accessories
LOGISTIC SERVICES:
In recent years, the most significant growth occurred
through the development of management systems
to supply rapid customer inventory through kanban
logic, which allows the customer to be able to forget about having to manage the purchase of all the
small metal parts, and any another article listed as
class C, being able to devote precious and expensive
internal human resources to activities with higher
added value.
Berardi ended 2013 with more than 100 integrated
logistics services in assets, an increase of over 10%
over the previous year.

in 1986, Rolling Tools has reached a position of great
prestige over the years as manufacturer of cylindrical,
flat and planetary thread rolling dies.
The high quality of our products and the ability to
meet the ever growing demands of our customers
are the elements that have characterised our history
of success. To address the increasing challenges of
a global marketplace, Rolling Tools has placed great
emphasis on the innovation of its production processes
and products, by combining continuous investments
in the latest CNC machinery with the expertise and
experience that make up its organisational structure.
For over twenty-five years, Rolling Tools products
have been synonymous of high quality threads to
be used in the automotive, aerospace, railway and
petrochemical industries.

As all tools produced by Rolling Tools are core-
hardened, they can be reground several times by
recreating the profile required and, if necessary,
by applying a new surface treatment with very fast
execution and delivery.
selection of suitable material for each tool means
success in its final application.
The heat treatment process is considered fundamental
and distinctive in the construction of tools that ensure
high performance over time. Rolling Tools is active in
the research and development of heat treatments that
make it possible to enhance the features (core hardness,
toughness and wear resistance) of the selected materials.
Moreover, thanks to the application of the latest coatings technologies, we have defined the most suitable
surface treatments in accordance with materials used in
customer applications, such as stainless steels, low carbon steels, titanium and special alloys. Our treatments
make it possible to increase surface hardness up to suitable depths and protect tools from premature wear.
QUALITY THROUGH RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT:
PROFILES & GEOMETRY:
Rolling Tools produces high-quality threading dies
through a consolidated and innovative production
process, in which all phases are characterised by
utmost accuracy and precision, as they are subject
to continuous strict controls. Process planning and
control ensures steady and rapid communication
between company departments to provide timely
responses to customers.
For each tool made, both new and reground, Rolling
Tools ensures full traceability over time for each
stage of the process by means of appropriate marking.
Rolling Tools has obtained the UNI EN ISO
9001:2008 Quality Certification.
Our manufacturing system, through the grinding
process, takes place thanks to modern CNC machines supported to CAD/CAM systems that ensure
maximum repeatability and consistency over time.

COMPANY PROFILE:
SASPI always works taking into account the needs of
workers and enterprises. Therefore the machines are
designed to maximize production times and reduce down
time for set ups and change over, as well as allowing
an operator freedom to manage multiple jobs. For this
reason the machines are automated and motorized in
order to avoid the use of tools as much as possible and
increase the efficiency and precision of adjustments.
All the rails are motorized as well as the die match and
both dies are clamped hydraulically. All these facts are
controlled by a touch screen where you are able to store
job numbers into the memory and recall when needed
with all set up dimensions. The display may include an
integrated process monitor.
SASPI has motorized the die block so you can adjust the
diameter, with high precision, just pressing the screen,
saving a lot of manual work and time. This feature makes
SASPI machines the fastest machines in changeover.
Apart from thread rollers SASPI has a range of high
quality products as their well known MPA high-speed
shave pointers. These elements can be combined
together to form complex machines like thread rollers
with pointers, washer assembly units, stud selectors or
induction heaters.
The MPA-14 automatic pointing machine is a very reliable, easy to use high speedy pointer. It is fully motorized
(centring, rails, top rail, spindle head...). One of the greatest features is that every part is held as close to the end
as possible during the pointing, facing or drilling process
regardless of the length. So we avoid the vibrations at
maximum and we gain precision and finishing quality
of the part. This is a unique feature of SASPI machines.
Recently we have introduced a process control system
in our pointers that measures the amperage that is using
the machine all the time. So we can control if something
goes wrong in a part or if the inserts are worn-out.
HISTORY:
Talleres SASPI, SA is a company founded in 1961 in
Azkoitia by seven partners. The name SASPI is derived
from “zazpi” (seven in Basque). It is a company that
since its inception it has clear that local and national
market was not his goal. The true potential of their
machines sales was abroad. Although been a humble
company, it was a pioneer in machine tool exports abroad
and outside Europe, overcoming all the problems they
had at the time. It was a company belonging to a market
that in Spain had virtually no competitors and worldwide
were few companies competing on the same level and
dare to export.
In 1986 the company changed management, which further boosted exports and increased the range of products,
thus covering the needs of all types of manufacturers of
screws. With the new support, the company was again
among the market leaders. SASPI has machines in more
than 15 countries.
The last few years, and to overcome the introduction
of new industries to market SASPI chose to increase
the quality and technology of machines to excel in the
market and most elite specialized industries such as
automotive and aerospace. These industries are very
strong and powerful industries where part quality matters more than price.
ACTIVITY:
SASPI, a company located in the municipality of Azkoitia, since its inception in the 60s, has evolved constantly
adapting to market needs. Proof of this has been the
move from being a small manufacturer of machinery,
to actually be a leader in manufacturing machinery for
sectors such as aerospace and automotive.
In this long should be noted the special attention SASPI
intended to:
• Get the best quality.
• Innovate with new product development and application of cutting edge technology.
• Competitive pricing.
SASPI always has been committed to the internationalization of the company, getting a presence on
five continents through its extensive sales network.
SASPI is characterized by its aim of offering customers the best service possible focusing its efforts on
continuous research of new technologies that allow
them to develop innovative products that differentiate us from the competitors, besides studying the
needs of the client to determine with certainty the
processes and equipment that best suit their needs.
For this purpose SASPI has a fully equipped R &
D department which works in achieving these goals
and has emerged as the key determinant of its progressive growth.

Smalley Steel Ring Company is the leading
manufacturer of Spirolox® Retaining Rings,
Constant Section Rings and Wave Springs.
Spiral rings offer a 360° retaining surface and
are interchangeable with standard stamped
ring grooves. Spiral retaining rings require no
special tooling for removal and have No Ears
to Interfere® with the assembly. Flat wire wave
springs reduce heights by up to 50% while offering the same force and deflection as standard
coil springs. Wave springs fit in tight radial and
axial spaces. With over 10,000 standard parts
to select from, all Smalley parts are available in
carbon and stainless steel off the shelf. Special
parts can range from .200” to 120” in diameter.
There are No-Tooling-Charge™ on specials.
Exotic alloys are readily available.
ABOUT SMALLEY:
For over 50 years, Smalley has manufactured
retaining rings and wave springs using our unique
coiling technology. Smalley has become established as the top manufacturer of spiral retaining
rings and flat wire wave springs. Smalley is ISO
9001, ISO/TS 16949, AS9100 and ISO 14001
certified.
144
PRODUCTS:
Wave/Compression Springs: Smalley Wave
Springs (Flat Wire Compression Springs) offer the
unique advantage of space savings when used to
replace coil springs. By reducing spring operating height, wave springs also produce a decrease
in the spring cavity. With a smaller assembly
size and less material used in the manufacturing
process, a cost savings is realized. Wave springs
operate as load bearing devices. They take up
play and compensate for dimensional variations
within assemblies. A virtually unlimited range of
forces can be produced whereby loads build either
gradually or abruptly to reach a predetermined
working height. This establishes a precise spring
rate in which load is proportional to deflection.
Spirolox® Retaining Rings: Spirolox Retaining Rings, available exclusively from Smalley,
have No Ears To Interfere® with the mating components in the assembly. Spiral rings offer a 360°
retaining surface, require no special tooling for
removal and are interchangeable with ordinary
snap ring grooves.
Constant Section Rings: Constant Section
Rings are often specified for heavy duty or impact loading applications. Smalley offers eight
series of rings from stock in over 1,000 sizes.
Fastener Technology International/August 2014
Laminar Sealing Rings: A Smalley Laminar
Sealing Ring is a metallic labyrinth seal consisting of multiple rings in a groove. This arrangement of the rings and the specific orientation of
the rings are dictated by the application and the
severity of the environment.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
Smalley offers an exclusive Circular-Grain®
Process. This process is not a stamping, but
rather a continuous coil that is made from
edge-wound, pre-hardened, spring-tempered
flat wire. The flat wire has a grain structure
that is linear, providing exceptional strength
and dimensional stability. Smalley’s unique
manufacturing process reduces scrap allowing
for the economical production of special alloy
products including a large selection of stainless
steel retaining rings and wave springs.

in 1948 and is the longest operating and most experienced
header tool manufacturer in the world. WTG has undergone many changes including ISO 9001:2008 certification
and continues to re-invent itself to better serve the ever
changing global market. Year after year, WTG continues
to outperform the competition and expand its product line
and operations. As a result of this dedication to continuous
improvement, WTG has become the market leader in a
wide range of hot and cold heading tools.
Recent acquisitions include RICO, Astro, and the Acument Pin Shop. RICO and Astro were purchased from
PCC in July 2010. The Acument Pin Shop was purchased
from Acument Global Technologies in April 2012. As a
result of these acquisitions WTG is now the largest recess
header tool manufacturers in the industry.
