LAUNDRY DECODER Keep this handy cheat sheet in your laundry room for quick reference, and you’ll never shrink a sweater again (we hope!). WASHING DRYING IRON There are three main things to look for on your clothing tags: the bucket, the dots and the lines under the bucket. If the symbol looks like a frontload machine, it can be put in the dryer; otherwise it must be air-dried. These look the same as the washing and drying symbols—just follow the dot system. Barring any special requirements for your garment, here’s how to do it. 1 READ THE CARE LABEL Make sure to read all tags on your clothing to see whether they require any specific treatments. Unsure about what a symbol means? Check out our laundry decoder on the flip side of this page. 2 SORT AND SEPARATE Sort your clothes into separate piles. Match similar colours together (whites, darks, and brights, for example), then sort these colours into similar materials, if necessary. If things require a special treatment (see step 1), make sure to only sort them into a pile with apparel that needs the same care. 3 PRETREAT STAINS If you notice a stain, attempt to wash it out with cold water as soon as possible; it will prevent the stain from settling in. If necessary, rub the stain with a bit of detergent and let the item soak. Rinse out the soap, apply a stain product and launder as you normally would. 4 GET READY TO WASH Love fragrance? Toss a little or a lot of the new Fleecy* Fragrance Pearls™ directly into your washing machine to ensure longer lasting fragrance. Add the clothes to the machine, then add your detergent. Powdered detergents are better in hard waters, whereas liquids help get rid of greasy stains. For incredible softness, be sure to add Fleecy* Liquid Fabric Softener in your favourite scent to your dispenser or during your final rinse cycle. 5 CHOOSE THE RIGHT WASH CYCLE AND TEMPERATURE 6 CHOOSE THE CORRECT DRYING METHOD Items that can be tumble-dried should be transferred to the dryer. For extra softness and for static control, throw a Fleecy* Fabric Softener Sheet into the dryer on top of your clothes and start the cycle. ILLUSTRATION ©istockphoto.com/Olga Zakharova don’t forget to remove clothes promptly from the dryer to prevent wrinkles use Fleecy* for scent, softness and static control Select the cycle and the temperature that corresponds best with the labels on the garments. If you are worried about something shrinking or that colours might bleed, wash items in cold water. Colgate-Palmolive Canada Inc. *TM Reg’d/M.D DEC15 - HOME - Fleecy [Print].indd 24 2015-10-20 5:35 PM
