Auction Rules
1. BRING YOUR AUCTION BROCHURE TO THE AUCTION.
YOU’LL NEED IT TO FIND ITEMS AND LIST PURCHASES.
2. Unsold items will be offered for sale Sunday, May 6 after the service. Items unsold after May 6th must be picked up by May 12 or
they will be donated.
3. In order to bid on any item, you must get a bidder number/paddle
at a registration table—only one per family. If you plan to use a
credit card, pick up the credit card form at registration and fill it out
before checking out.
4. You must complete two Purchase Sheets (Purchase Sheets are on
the last two pages of this brochure.) If you do not have one, purchase sheets are available at the registration tables.
5. Allowed bidding increments are listed on the bidding sheets. Of
course, higher increments are always welcomed.
6. There will be multiple bidding sheets for items with more than one
available, for example “Three King Adventures” will have 3 bidding
sheets.
7. Some of the items have specific conditions, such as time limit,
availability, exclusions, etc. The buyer is responsible for determining these from the material provided or from the donor. Tax, tip and
gratuity are not included unless otherwise stated.
8. All sales are final, and no exchanges or refunds are possible,
unless the minimum number of persons are not signed up and the
event is cancelled.
9. As you enter your bids on the bidding sheets, it’s essential that you
enter your name and paddle number each time you revise your

Auction Rules Continued
bid. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY. Keep track of the highest prices
you bid in your brochure lists. Updating your brochure lists in pencil
is recommended (pencils available at check-in).
10. When you’re through bidding, double check that both lists in your
brochure are complete. Include items you’ve won at the Live Auction. Your list will be your receipt; the cashier keeps the other for
UUFSD.
11. When the Silent Auction ends at 6:30, you’ll be asked to leave the
Core area to participate in the Live Auction in Founders Hall. Table
Monitors will gather the bid sheets and enter the winners on a grid
on both sides of a whiteboard in the Core Area, matching item
number with the winner’s paddle number. The completion of this
process will be announced. You are then free at any time to check
the board in the Core Area for your winning numbers. Items on the
tables are to remain there until they’ve been paid for.
12. Cashiers will be in the library. Please do not line up to checkout
until your lists and your credit card form are completely filled out.
The Table Monitors will have delivered the bid sheets to the cashiers so that the amounts of the winning bids can be verified.
13. Preferred payment method is cash or check (made out to UUFSD).
Credit card payments (Visa or Master Card) are also accepted.
Your list (receipt) will be signed by the cashier, indicating that
you’ve paid in full.
14. Certificates and tickets will be held at check-out and given to you
after payment is received. Remember to enter event dates on your
calendar!
15. To claim an item in the Core Area, show your signed receipt to a
Table Monitor who will check your list and give you your item. All
items must be removed by the conclusion of the event.

Auction Rules Continued
16. Many of the brochure photographs are generic representations of the
auction items and not pictures of the actual item or event.
17. It is the Auction Committee’s intention to describe accurately all items
with the information provided by the auction’s generous contributors.
We did not appraise nor do we guarantee the fair retail market value.
We have made a good faith effort to furnish accurate information. In
determining the tax deductibility of items purchased at the charitable
auction, Internal Revenue ruling 67-246 and subsequent rulings remind purchasers that no deduction is allowable except to the extent
that the taxpayer can show that his or her payment exceeded the retail
market value of the item or service received.
18. Donors of property given to be auctioned off can request an In-Kind
donation receipt for tax purposes.
Absentee Bidding
IF YOU CAN’T ATTEND, YOU CAN BID BY EMAIL
HERE’S HOW
Check the Auction Brochure for the items you want. Make a list with the
item number/title and the amount you are willing to pay. Send your list to
John Sherman at stewardship@uufsd.org.
A member of the Auction Committee will place your bids for you on May 5.
ALL EMAILS MUST BE IN BY MIDNIGHT,
FRIDAY, MAY 4TH.
Of course, you can always ask a friend who will be there to
place competitive bids for you.

Other Ways You Can Support Fundraising
Vehicle donation program – call the office (858-755-9225) to
obtain a brochure that tells you how to donate that used vehicle that you don’t want to bother to trade in! Need not be in
running order.
Escrip – register your Von’s, Ralph’s, Albertson’s club cards
and credit cards. UUFSD will receive a portion (1-5%) of your
purchases at these markets and other participating stores.
Kathryn Sturch has more information about this program.
Next year’s auction – be thinking about merchants you patronize that might be willing to offer a gift certificate for the
auction.
Special fundraisers – support luncheons, concerts, classes,
and other events throughout the year. Bring your friends.
Ideas for fundraisers – The Stewardship Commission is always interested in ideas for raising money for the Fellowship.
Please contact us with your ideas.
Don’t forget to
take pictures of your event for next year’s Auction brochure!
