Bonderite® flex process
Henkel’s BONDERITE® Flex Process enables vehicle lightweighting by processing up to 85 percent aluminum.
A standard zinc phosphate coating (BONDERITE® M-ZN 2798™) is applied on cold rolled steel and zinc-coated
substrates, while a zirconium-based coating (BONDERITE® M-PT 54 NC™) is applied on the aluminum substrates.
Easily integrated into existing production lines without cost-intensive modifications, the zirconium-based
pretreatment for aluminum provides flexible paint shop operation, while offering a variety of benefits,
including:
• Excellent corrosion performance on aluminum substrates without zinc phosphate
• Spray or immersion applications in the BONDERITE® M-PT 54 NC™ stage
• Operating ambient temperature in the BONDERITE® M-PT 54 NC™ stage
